wowgetoffyourcellphone
I'd like to give to the Persians a small special building called "Yakhchāl" or "Ice House" in English. Quote A yakhchāl is an ancient type of evaporative cooler. Above ground, the structure had a domed shape, but has a subterranean storage space; it was often used to store ice, but sometimes was used to store food as well. The subterranean space coupled with the thick heat-resistant construction material insulated the storage space year round. These structures were mainly built and used in Persia. Many that were built hundreds of years ago remain standing. 3 model variations would be nice. Build limit of 5. Adds +5% health to all units with an aura. They would get 1 as their special starting structure. Persian units could have a -20% train time buff (or have extra training techs to this effect), but a -10% health debuff. Building Yakchals would mitigate this and adds a nice cultural touch. Spoiler
Lion.Kanzen
In DE this can be work as my other proposition of cistern. ( with technologies)
Sundiata
Nice.. Wouldn't it make more sense to function as a special building that increases productivity from farms (food can be stored longer, less waste, more net food surplus)? And how about an option to upgrade them with bâdgir (Persian windcatcher/windtower): Spoiler The caption with this last one says it's a water reservoir I think @LordGood was actually interested in the windtowers. Persian windmills are also quite interesting, but I'm not sure exactly how far back they date. Spoiler

I don't see evidence they were used as granaries. Source? Wind catchers could be a nice upgrade. I want to keep these simple though. The mod is already quite complex.

Just from casual reading I read that they were used to create and store ice, as well as preservation of food. The ice itself was also used to preserve food. It probably wasn't used to store grains, but it was used for things like meat and dairy. I'm not an expert though, just an idea. Spoiler 11 hours ago, Stan` said: pers_ice_house.zip 1.26 MB · 4 downloads Looks cool man. A couple requests? Some of the uv mapping looks stretched. Also, the models were exported at a negative altitude. Can reset them to 0? (changing the altitude using the template causes the foundation to float, lol; better to just re-export the models) Also, at the top needs to be a hole to allow hot air to escape. It would be nice if they had custom textures, but that may be asking too much! lol. Thanks for your work so far. Adding these to the Persians gives additional cultural flair! Loving it! I can add that, I was wondering why there would be a hole which would allow the sun to melt the ice. 1 hour ago, wowgetoffyourcellphone said: It would be nice if they had custom textures, but that may be asking too much! lol. I think the Apadana needs updated too, but that's core game. Cult Statues are Delenda Est. If you make me a cult statue for them I'll make a template for the core game too if you want. The Yakhchal and Cult Statues for core game will just pull their parent from the generic "special_building" template and do nothing.
