Here are the tech icons for the 7 sets of administration techs in the Imperial Court. The 8th tech slot goes to the spying techs.

And then for each "level" I'll have a little I, II, or III, like this:

The Administration areas will be, these, unless you guys have better suggestions!

Civil Service

  • Focus: Technology cost and research time

Civil Engineering

  • Focus: Building health and build time

Ceremonial Administration

  • Focus: Temples and Healers

Nationalized Industries

  • Focus: Resource gathering, at the expense of Market research costs and bartering

Southern Army

  • Focus: Citizen-Soldiers

Northern Army

  • Focus: Champions and Siege Weapons

Naval Administration

  • Focus: Navy

What do you guys think?

The Tarim Basin

Quote

A barren desert basin surrounded by mountainous valleys, the Tarim Basin is also called "The Western Regions" by the Han Chinese, and represents the furthest extent of their power.

The basin itself is bereft of life  and offers little in the way of defensibility. The rugged mountain valleys harbor the only life, in the form of hearty shrub and tree species and some goats.

Okay, after playing around with this a bit, I have decided that these techs should boost up your Ministers instead of the whole civ. This keeps the importance of the Ministers. Mainly, these techs can unlock more auras that make the Ministers more useful and effective.

Idea for special unit: Government Minister. Walks around looking all administrative and authoritarian. Has either aura or special ability to make units build and gather faster and boost buildings' production queue. I wish we could have special abilities or commands, like the Pharaoh in Age of Mythology. You would task the Pharaoh to any building and it would just work much much better. Task it to a foundation and the units building it would build it faster. Task it to a storehouse or granary and nearby units would gather faster. Something like this. Max number of Han Ministers would be 9, per historicity:

We can reintroduce the Government Center and they can be trained from there, plus some special techs. Han player would start with 1 as the special starting unit.

These robes are inaccurate. Drama costume probably.

Reminds me of "The Water Margin" costumes  so even if accurate about 800 years later ;)

Enjoy the Choice :)

Those actually look like/took inspiration from something a Samurai would wear...

Well, unlike later periods, the "mandarin robe" had not been formalized during Han Dynasty, so the relevant researches are fewer.

Best I could find so far:

Below: Western Han, civil official (yes, those are two-handed sword/jian. Even civil official carries it)

Below: Western Han Aristocrat (Outdoors outfit during the beginning of summer)

Emperor and aristocrat (and possibly other officials) apparently wear different color for different time of the year. Blue for spring, Red for beginning of summer, Yellow for end of summer, White for fall, and Black for Winter.

The sword-like weapon at the bottom is not actually a sword. It is a bronze Sha (鎩) polearm (pole-sword?).

However what's more interesting are those weapons at the top - two hammer-spears! Essentially a spear-head married to a hammer-head, then mounted onto a shaft. The Chinese sure did use some heavy-duty weapons.

Are they also thicker sometimes ?

As in "broader"? no, most of them are roughly that narrow.

I believe I mentioned  that Han swords are narrow back when I first post in here (forgot which thread though).
