AI bot spam on the forum

From what I've seen, maybe posts written in Cyrillic should require mod approval.

Few seconds ago, for the second time today, one of my posts was hidden until approval, bc I set a link to gitea.wildfiregames.com. Maybe this site can be put on the white list for obvious reasons.

@ThalattaIt's been suggested countless times that the first post needs to be approved by a mod; I support that, regardless of the alphabet. I've never seen an official statement regarding this, so I don't know why it's not done.

Yes, I agree, since surely these posts in Cyrillic are a first one. I'd maybe even go further and require mod approval for the first three posts, since I seem to remember someone posting something that made sense and then their second post was total spam.

When you are singing up for the lobby in 0ad, doesn't it only let 1 person per hour on the same ip sign up? Why not do that for the forum also

But, whom is going to need to create more than one account so soon to creating the other? Then bots would some trouble, unless they use a vpn

WFG has not created the forum software, so we are limited by what options are available in the software. And at least as far as I have seen I haven't found any such options sadly.

Personally I've been/still am reluctact as it would mean that genuine new users might have to wait a number of hours before their first post is approved, and in the mean time they might give up. No matter what we do or don't do there's always a cost somewhere, so the question is what is reasonable. I did suggest changing things in this manner in a staff-only topic, but there were other suggested ways to try and limit the issue that we might try beforehand.

I see, although usually they have to wait hours or days for an answer to whatever they ask, so in principle I don't think the problem is as serious as it initially might seem.
