Okay, guys. This time I NEED your feedback.
Did I cover it enough? Did I miss anything? Was my voice annoying? I want to continue doing this, but I don't know if I should.

I believe you didn't mention (or at least you didn't demonstrate, I may have missed it in the speech) that trade with allies is more profitable, that ships can trade between docks and that you can boost your profits with market upgrades. But the subject is well covered anyway.

There is some technical background noise, please try to configure your microphone / recording software to get rid of it.

I find such video series useful and entertaining, so I hope you will proceed with it.

  2. First of all, port-forwarding is needed to host games, you should be able to connect to other player games without any extra configuration.

Also I dont know how Port forwarding works in general and what its for

When you're hosting a game, it expects incoming connections on the corresponding device (your PC), but they actually come to your networking device (phone modem or whatever do you have), port-forwarding tells the networking device to 'forward' requests from a specific port on the networking device to a specific port on the device where you expect them.

So i have an app on my android which is clled port forwarder. Is it possible to forward the port from there and if yes how do I have to set the settings?

You need to check your PC LAN IP via ipconfig / ifconfig (depending on the operating system). And forward UDP port 20595 to it.

P.S.: second time in the day Stan was faster answering a network-related question :) but I'm posting my reply this time, since it contains some additional details.

As for the network cable, tell me more,  are you saying to run cables through the router to each computer? (I am no network genius). Or run network cable from PC to PC direct (this doesnt sound right to me).

    Both configurations should work.

Since you have a router, you can connect via it, and it's a bit easier: you just have to check host IP via ipconfig/ifconfig and enter it on client, see @stanislas69 0 A.D. Lan Tutorial.pdf (originally posted here: https://wildfiregames.com/forum/index.php?/topic/21454-cant-host-multiplayer-game-even-lan-¿port-forwarding/&do=findComment&comment=323405).

But you also commented on something like direct router-less connection, so I answered that you can use it as well. In this case you have to configure LAN IPs manually, since you don't have a DHCP-server. See a network configuration example in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0k63-FWqfw (up to 3:50, file sharing part is not relevant). For 0 A.D. part: start host on one machine and connect to host's LAN IP on client.

You do however need to enter the local IP (i.e. the one given by the router to that specific computer on the network rather than the one which is used when accessing the internet) and that might be a bit harder to find depending on your router.

LAN IP is listed by ipconfig (Windows) / ifconfig (Unix) utilities (as 'IPv4 Address' or 'IP Address' or 'inet addr').

We did try that, but I was unable to set a static IP, I will work on that this week. This router is antique and proprietary, so much of the options are either hidden or unavailable.

You shouldn't need to 'set' anything, as soon as you connect a PC it either recieves a LAN IP automatically (via DHCP) or uses a pre-defined (on the PC side) one.

Too bad you cannot just connect two machines with a serial cable or Bluetooth.

You can connect PCs directly via a network cable, you have to specify (a different) IPs on both machines manually in this case.

It's strange, as it seems the cpu detection detects you have a CPU with Hyper-Threading, although your cpu doesn't.

It would be interesting to see what cpuid would report regarding hyperthreading support and number of cores.

  6. @xanax "Announcements / News" subforum is for 0 A.D. news themselves rather than for news about news :) But as Erik said above, it's not a big problem to move a post into a proper forum and Erik already done that, so don't worry about this :)

PPM seem to be focused on C&C game series, so I'm not sure whether 0 A.D. news are completely relevant there (you probably should know better if you are a regular of that community; maybe someone would be impressed enough to decide making a C&C-inspired game on our engine if nothing else :D).

Thanks for spreading a word about our project in any case! =)

  7. I don't know Greek, but I can give you some information about the string, as you can see in the 'occurrences' field on Transifex, it comes from XmppClient, so the 'Stream' here refers to XMPP XML Stream which matches a typical meaning of stream in computing ('a sequence of data elements made available over time'). Hopefully this should help to find the proper Greek term :)

Also I see that for Russian translation (a language I understand :)), @vladislavbelov used a more generic term 'connection' ('соединение' on Russian), which may be a good idea when a more direct translation sounds less understandable.

About twentieth minute of 2016-11-07_gauls_4v4_ambush match kindly shared by @elexis here: https://wildfiregames.com/forum/index.php?/topic/21337-a21-replays/&do=findComment&comment=321836

Hannibal_Barca's towers and grape foragers overlooking surroundings from a cliff in the middle, svnUran238cz' safe (for the time being) Iberian town on the left, Vercingetorix_' base extension on the right, ransacked elexis' base on top right, and finally on top middle is a line of Luzbell's archers who are going to meet Vercingetorix_' fanatics soon :)
(wang_wei's green and fatherbushido's blue bases are visible on the minimap)

Dueling Cliffs map. A21 announcement contains a more informative image of the map (better representing its entire layout), but this one demonstrates the mountains epicness in it's own way :)

Maybe because commit delete cursor texture?

The "test" curson was renamed in r18933 and this included *.cpp (engine) file changes, so you indeed need a new build / autobuild.

For ease of use, why don't we standardize a format for games uploaded here? :)

Sounds good :) But let's make it recommended (rather than mandatory) as the main goal for now is to get as much replays as possible; if someone would prefer to post replay packs like @borg- and @bb did for a20 -- it's ok too, we can organize/annotate the replays later :)

That's enough material for a ticket with the pathfinding keyword. Perhaps we should also add the "formation" keyword to related tickets.

I created a ticket: #4318, not sure about the 'pathfinding' keyword though, it's UnitAI logic which is related to movement states, but not to pathfinding logic itself. I added 'UnitAI' and 'formations' keywords for a start, feel free to edit as necessary.

a19 had the new pathfinder, but there were also some formation changes http://trac.wildfiregames.com/search?changeset=on&q=formation&page=2&noquickjump=1, 3086 perhaps

I linked the revision which broke it above (r17036), reverting it fixes the animation, but then the issue from #3429 should return (unless it was fixed by something else in a different way). Maybe the code from r17036 can be enhanced to select the formation-specific animation rather than always returning to 'idle' on "MoveCompleted"?
