  1. Nope, we already discussed this and I don't see a particular building in Britain really plausible as a candidate for the wonder.
  2. I am Swiss so I am not concerned although I have a deep interest for the Celtic culture, especially of the ancient Celts. I understand the animosity against the English people, I am not really fond of their culture, history and attitude in general. But on this matter, I don't follow this logic about the British Isles being a terminology imposed by the English imperialism upon the Irish people. There are evidences in Polybius, Pliny the Elder and Pseudo-Aristotle works showing that the ancient authors viewed all the Islands as being a part of the British Islands, including Ireland. I disagree. First of all because I know the archaeological evidences for Ireland's early Iron Age, they are not abundant. And the heroes you are mentionning are only known from tales and myths. It is impossible to date accurately the events occuring in the Gaelic tales.
  3. It is green so it is corroded. It is not that rare to find well preserved bronze sword: see at 2m30s

  5. No need for a link, a reference would be enough. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/APA_style
  6. What does it bring to the thousands of people visiting Pompeii of so valuable? Honestly this is simply mass tourism in most cases. This is like Athens, far more people are visiting the acropolis than the museum of the acropolis where they would get the most information about it.
  7. What is the most important, extracting the most knowledge you can get from it or the enjoyment/fetichism of our generation to see the items and buildings exposed to the environment ?
  8. You should really read on the topic instead of reacting emotionally. Pompeii was discovered in 1709 and has known several excavations campaigns since the 18th century. Göbekli Tepe has been identified in 1965 and an excavation campaign started only in 1995. Furthermore Pompeii is currently under a new excavation campaign because there are too many depredations and destruction occurring on the site. And Pompeii has many buildings reinforced with concrete only to please the tourists. https://www.britannica.com/place/Pompeii/History-of-excavations
  9. This is not a fringe opinion from a lonely archaeologist, the huge majority of people in the field has this opinion.
  10. Because people knowing the topic have seen the damages by 19th century archaeology. We must not consume every archeological reserves/ressources we know for future generation and for future technology.
  11. It is always the case. Archaeology is a destructive process and archaeological ressources are not renewable, except by creating more material from the current period.
  12. Animal representations were extremely rare at this time on the material that survived. And when it is the case, the depiction and the style are simplistic. The earliest form of emblematic native art appeared with the bracteates, during the Roman Empire.
  13. Herodotus, book 4, ch.62 : This is their way of sacrificing to other gods and these are the beasts offered; but their sacrifices to Ares are of this sort. Every district in each of the governments has a structure sacred to Ares; namely, a pile of bundles of sticks three eighths of a mile wide and long, but of a lesser height, on the top of which there is a flattened four-sided surface; three of its sides are sheer, but the fourth can be ascended. Every year a hundred and fifty wagon-loads of sticks are heaped upon this; for the storms of winter always make it sink down. On this sacred pile an ancient scimitar of iron is set for each people: their image of Ares. They bring yearly sacrifice of sheep and goats and horses to this scimitar, offering to these symbols even more than they do to the other gods. Of enemies that they take alive, they sacrifice one man in every hundred, not as they sacrifice sheep and goats, but differently. They pour wine on the men's heads and cut their throats over a bowl; then they carry the blood up on to the pile of sticks and pour it on the scimitar. They carry the blood up above, but down below by the sacred pile they cut off all the slain men's right arms and hands and throw these into the air, and depart when they have sacrificed the rest of the victims; the arm lies where it has fallen, and the body apart from it. 14. This new form of racism is : Everything not ethnically English should have an accent for more visibility and portrayal. Russians must speak English but with Russian accent, Greeks must speak with Greek accent, French people with French accent, Arabs with Arabian accent etc. etc. Assassin's Creed English voices do that frequently for example. Ghost of Tsushima voice acting is also doing it in English while the actual actor is speaking perfect English with no accent naturally. My mother tongue is French and when I hear English with French accent in video games in odd context, I want to break the jaws of the executives.
  15. The new voice acting choose the path of the neo-racism in vogue in mainstream media:
  16. An interesting video about the assembly code of the original AoE. (Remember the definitive edition has been rewritten in C++)
  17. I don't see anything unusual, you should compare Pompei and Gobekli Tebe. Both are not entirely excavated and won't be in a close future.

  19. Thanks it is clear. I was surprised by the bright red and I thought it could cause issue. I think I have respectful opinions in general
  20. Is the bright red associated to the player colour or is it fixed/constant red?
