Belgium, but I have family and friends in sweden (Gotland and near Gothenborg). We generally speak in english, but they try to teach me some swedish as well xD (I totally love sweden by the way) Anyway dutch (one of the three official languages in Belgium, and the one I've grown up with) ressembles swedish enough to understand about half of the words in an average swedish news article (or Harry Potter 1 xD)

Already played all of them xD It's good, but not very ... you know ... seamless or something, and it shouldn't be in the demo maps, no one will find it there (but I guess it's just there until it's totally 'ready' to be put in the game)

Add a tutorial scenario (once decent triggers have been implemented), even when I'm pretty sure I'll be able to get the gameplay by just playing the game, I still play it once, just for fun.

Yeah, this is something I've wondered about as well. What I did was put one unit of player 3 on the map, make it unreachable for the AI (in the middle of the water xD) then load the map, make myself player 3 and both player 1 and 2 Aegis bots. Then open developer menu, set reveal map and watch the two AI battle ... however, this does not reflect well whether the map is balanced since the AI does 1) not use water, 2) doesn't have really much tactics and probably points 3, 4, 5 and so on as well, even though I don't know what they are xD But it is nice to watch the two bots fight each other :-) There must be a better way to do this, but I don't know it.

inte problem, jag förstår Svenska :-) välkommen!

If there aren't any legal issues with an AoE mod, I'm willing to continue making AoE-based 3d models (and redo the ones I already made once I have more experience). How do I redistribute the mod? Can I put it on the forum? Or do I use an online storage server (mediafire or something)? If anyone wants to send in any other AoE - fan art models that can be used, please do! I can't do all of the AoE models on my own ;-)

This map doesn't have any historical background, it's just a fictional setting in which Macedonians oppose the Gauls. Although it is certainly possible to fight out this conflict on the land, it is preferable to do so by sea (when the navire system has been improved), there are several interesting locations that can only be reached by ship. Some info about the map: Top screenshot: The map isn't balanced yet and there is a lot of little things to tweak, but I'm out of inspiration. If someone could take a look at it and give me some hints I would be very grateful. Attached Map (v2 - 28 dec 2012) Black Isle.7z

Night would definitely add more tactics to the game, and I would love to see some 'raid' based scenarios, where you build your defences during the day and each night enemies come to raid your village. Or even a civilisation ... there must have been some civs that were known to do nightly raids, these could have cavalry that get an atk bonus during night-time or something. But as said before: nice feature, but low priority... still: it should definitely be in the game some day!

Age of Empires was my first computer game, and (I'm quite certain I've already said this in a post on this forum some years ago) I've yet to find a game that gives me the amazing feeling I had when I played this when I was seven ... but 0 A.D. is definitely the closest any has gotten. I would love to be able to play a 0 A.D. 'AoE Classic' mod ... but I'm not sure about copyright (and about my modelling skills xD).

I want to join this. I'm currently working on another map (which is about a quarter done), but it'll probably be finished by 2013 (or at least finished enough to showcase it on the forum)

Wow! Amazing work! Merry Christmas! -
requirement "mesh has single set of polygons"
idanwin replied to idanwin's topic in Tutorials, references and art help
Thank you, that seems to have done the trick! Wonderful!!! -
Okay, fine. But for some buildings this is just not the right thing. I'm thinking mostly about monuments (Stonehenge for example), in such cases you want the ground underneath to be flattened. Maybe have a 'flatten=true' in xml files for this kind of cases?
-
Yesterday I was thinking that maybe we could add an option 'Day', 'Night' and 'Cycle'. During the night LOS would become smaller, giving the attacker an advantage to come closer to the enemy before he gets noticed. Not everyone may like this kind of night/day cycle, so it should be disabled by default, but when playing a map you could choose to change this to night, or cycle. It would also be really nice for scenarios and campaigns.

As long as you can do a quick raid on the enemy, taking all his sheep with you, it sounds fine to me. Something to do with unit count, should also take into account the proximity of these units.

mountain climbing soldiers do look more plausible than floating buildings ...

I don't know what exactly is causing this error message: error: art/meshes/structural/classical_towncenter.dae: Assertion not satisfied (line 569): failed requirement "mesh has single set of polygons" Some of my models have this problem, but others don't. Could someone explain this to me? (Blender v2.65a, 0ad 20dec build)
-
Now that the holidays have started I've also started toying around with Blender again. For some models it would be really nice if the construction site was flattened when placing the building because floating pots, weapons and bones look really bad.

Make a single version and ask whether to use "possibly offensive content" in the game during the installation process and add a check button in the option screen to hide/show this content.

not kings, rulers ;-) regicide is a definite must! (in my opinion) what would ambassadors do? Just a scenario unit? Philosophers could boost research rates? or morale?

[Scenario]Codename: "Romeland Security"

The nazi's have had more than enough victims, should those from whom they stole their swastika be forced to give up a traditional symbol because of the wrong-doings of the third reich? I'm against nazism, people of my family have been killed in concentration camps, but we should not try to erase this from our past, and we should certainly not erase the hindu swastika from our history because of hatred towards the things that the nazi's did. Why, while we are at it, not forbid the german language, destroy all copies of mein kampf and start over again from the year 1913 as if the past century never happened? I understand you hate nazi's, and neo-nazi's, and I share this hatred. But keep it at that, don't go around hating everything that makes you think of them. PS I'm against your way of handling this topic, instead of protesting (yes, I know, protesting has gotten rather popular lately) can't you just discuss this in the thread that was made especially for this topic? -
different building models and effects based on phase

I wouldn't mind giving it a try during the Christmas holidays. -
We should certainly do our best to avoid legal issues, but I also believe that we should not censor ourselves unnecessarily. Censorship is dangerous and it's something I want to fight against. One of the secondary purposes of this game is to be historically correct and to accurately (but with some artistic freedom) represent ancient cultures. The Mauryans are a culture of which only few people have heard, and it may come as a shock to some of the less educated amongst them that the Mauryan symbol of luck is similar to the swastika. But I believe that's a good thing, at least they learn something. That's my opinion, but this isn't my game, so I'll just leave it at that.

same problem here on an Ubuntu 12.10. Compiling the code on my System 76 laptop: no problem ... but on my old desktop: no linux binaries (both run 12.10), I'll test this fix when I get back.
