Introducing the Official community mod for Alpha 26
Gurken Khan replied to wraitii's topic in Gameplay Discussion
Just wanted to throw in here that my spearmen are the first to die. Or the only, actually. So if their survivability is further reduced, I probably won't even take them along (again). -
For this alpha it takes a long time to "wrap things up"; when I won a game and select to exit and view the summary it really takes a long time till the stats come up. I thought maybe it was the community mod, but then I remembered that before it the cursor would actually turn into a spiral signifying the game was unresponsive. Not a major issue, but it still would feel better if that wasn't the case. Can anybody confirm?

Where is the "back to work" button gone?

As with other civs, I usually have around 50 women working on the fields. In one game I had 18 paddies worked in the peak.

It's been a month, did you notice a negative impact on the server? -
I guess pushing doesn't work when units are fighting. It really pi puts me off majorly when I loose units because they are bumping around for ever on their fighting colleagues instead of retreating; even when it's only a handful of javelineers not tightly packed... It's probably aggravated at every bump with the turn and acceleration times.

I'm guessing your path is C:\Users\Chesnutter\Documents\My Games\0ad\mods See if you can open that directory in your windows file manager, go to your download folder and do a right click on the BoonGUI zip; it should give you the option to extract. Where is the "back to work" button gone?
Gurken Khan replied to gui456wSERTDYF's topic in Gameplay Discussion
The back to work button (a pointing hand) is displayed contextually; if the order isn't applicable you won't see it. -

All the best for 2023! cheers

Archaeological potpourri
Gurken Khan replied to Gurken Khan's topic in Introductions & Off-Topic Discussion
There's currently an exhibition about Augustus: https://www.heise.de/tp/features/Bilderboom-der-Antike-Macht-und-Medien-im-alten-Rom-7442957.html It focuses on his media revolution, how he made politics by flooding the public (and private) with statues etc. It also draws comparisons to modern autocrats... -
I think it's a fun upgrade concerning kills.

Women don't, healers by healing.

Units can't enter buildings that are not for them. Barracks can only be garrisoned by pedestrian soldiers, stables only by horses and camels... Women and healers can't get experience by being garrisoned. I would be ok with fortresses giving experience.

How to change behaviour of soldiers distracted by towers
Gurken Khan replied to alre's topic in Gameplay Discussion
I don't agree that gathering and building are low priority tasks per se; depends on what when. 1 and 2 I think they should flee, 3 probably keep on building; if it's near the border it's potentially critical. The main reason I play on turtle speed is because my units are so dumb. Maybe your changes will improve that. For example building near the border I usually watch closely and give manual orders if necessary or change the stance accordingly, so the programmed response is less important to me. -
Word.

I don't know if they ever had them. The idea is to make the civs different. The other Hellenic factions have them as mercenaries, but Sparta is relying on their famous spearmen. ^^

suggestions Thread for posting suggestions for Alpha 27.

Can we have the indicator back that a ship is being repaired? There was a hammer symbol together with how many people worked on it. With ships being dumb and coastlines being difficult it didn't always work, so I'd prefer if I could see at first glance if works. Edit: It shows when the ship is empty; can we have that it shows regardless? -
No, archers aren't in the Spartan roster.
