There are certain structures that you can build in Neutral Territory: 1. Docks (Well, actually it could be built even in your enemy's territory) 2. Civic Centers 3. Military Colonies 4. Roman Encampment (also doesn't respect territory at all) 5. Structures that I have not listed yet. (Wooden Towers? I haven't checked if Ulysses removed these) Edit: The Mauryans have Mobile Dropsites (Worker Elephants) so they're they have the really annoying strategy for stealing your resources. Of course, it's a risky, time-wasting tactic.

@Itms It's the default setting. @GunChleoc I want to know how dbg works. This is what I did: 1. Run Terminal and put: dbg pyrogenesis 2. Then typed: run Did I do it right? Here's another thing. I clicked the "Continue" Button on the crash box, and the game runs fine, except that it doesn't seem to save my settings (Can't go fullscreen mode). I'm trying to find out whether I borked my own system, or am encountering a special-case bug. In any case, I'll help in the backtracking as much as I can.

I haven't had the chance to play it yet since the crash happens when I try open the game. My first install came from the Software ppa. Next, I uninstalled it and tried the deb files. Same result. Now, I'm just lost.

Here's my specs if it's needed. What do you think? Is my hardware really too outdated for this game, or is it just a bug?

Tech. I want that to be a tech... on Phase III :-P

I'm new to the Linux File System. Where do my replays go? (Mint is my distro if that's important).

As with all projects, the torch must be passed on.

I don't care how 'late' this is, I'm opening my Christmas present early this year! Thank you WildfireGames Team!!!

This guy's tutorial series helped me learn the basics by rote. After that, causative's "Road to Expert" seems to have the best outline. It helped me accelerate from Easy to Hardest Petra (on some maps at least). But I mostly like it by the fact that it teaches "Any-faction Phase I" first before addressing the "Faction-specific" things.

No more tickets... the team is quite silent... Is it going up? Is it going up... Will Ulysses be emerging finally? I'm honestly excited!!!

Speaking of "name" and "playing a faction", I was reminded of this video. I couldn't stop loling at how the player (who won this game) was introduced.

So... when will the editing be done? -
Cool! This should become a "Request to Change Your Name" thread.

Fighting techniques references
sphyrth replied to Enrique's topic in Tutorials, references and art help
I know it's discouraged, but historically accurate fighting motion gets you closer to Total-War-like mechanics. So, there has to be compromise when this is implemented. To be honest though, I DO want to see shield bashing in-game myself. -
Why do the Forums Get So Quiet Before a Release?
sphyrth replied to Palaiogos's topic in General Discussion
When majority of the active forumers are also involved in the development, it's expected that the forums become quiet when much of the focus is sucked by ensuring the stability of the next alpha. Don't worry, there are whiners like us who can keep it "alive" to some extent. And, yes, this is one of the drawbacks of Open Source. You just have to get used to it. -

They look like actions figures that I want to just collect and play with! -

I personally like the soldier in it. But is it just me or does his helmet look taller than it should be?

sphyrth replied to Jeru's topic in General Discussion
I know that the devs are trying to push the new alpha out asap and I really like how they approach it with the intent of making as stable as they can, but my impatience is getting to me. So I'm thinking of ways to keep my mind off to something else for a while. That, and I'm hyped to hear some news about your event. -

If AoE was my childhood game then I wouldn't have been this historically stupid. Anyways, thanks! -
Questions About the Melee Roman Infantry Design
sphyrth replied to sphyrth's topic in Gameplay Discussion
Okay. Checked my history and I think I found out where I'm messing up. Marian Reforms -> Segmentata's popularity begins to wane -> Caesar's Time -> Rome was official called an Empire. I was confused because I thought Marius' reign was AFTER Caesar's Imperial time. Anyway, choosing the Hamata is the safest bet since it never really fall out of use... even at the time when the Segmentata was popular.
