It's also not just about adding some good looking new terrain textures to vanilla, we have to get rid of the textures that are no longer acceptable. We will also have to redesign a lot of maps to use the new terrains, because a real revamp won't be a one for one replacement of the old terrains. New biomes will need to be designed and the maps adjusted to them. Lots of work. Doable in a year though and completely worth it. It'll make 0 ad look like a real AAA game.

@Stan` and I have a gentleman's agreement to work together to revamp the game's terrains for Alpha 25.

Latest stuff for DE. Trying some "alpine"/"arctic"/"winter" textures and maps. This one I may title: Cisalpine Winter (2 players) PLEASE COMMIT THE MAP RESIZING PATCH FOR ATLAS. THANK YOU. lol That way I can start making 2, 4, and 6 player versions of skirmish maps.

I've wanted to change this one for a long time.

It's not that I wouldn't want to implement this kind of representation, it's just a lot of work including a significant amount of trial and error and design work. -

Training him automatically researches the Hellenistic Reforms tech in Empire Phase for free, which unlocks the Spartan Reform Phalangite and Stone Walls. Already implemented. -

Agis IV doesn't seem very compelling of a hero for the Spartans. His main claim to fame seems to be his attempt at reforming the Spartan system and then being murdered for it. He reigned 4 years without ever battling an enemy faction besides other Spartans. Looks like Cleomenes III is one one want: https://www.wikiwand.com/en/Cleomenes_III -

Can we give macedonians some love?
wowgetoffyourcellphone replied to badosu's topic in Gameplay Discussion
AFAIK it's just this here. No real discussion was made when the Royal Stoa, the Persian special building, etc. were added. They were just added to add some other cool stuff to the game. -

Yeah, I wish EA would implement some kind of consistent Mercenary system to allow for these outlier units. This would allow EA to give more unit types to all the civs and balance them out some, while retaining a uniqueness to each citizen roster. Whether EA adopts DE's mercenary system or some other system, I think it should be done, perhaps for Alpha 25. Keep the Stoa as some kind of special building, but with a civic or cultural bonus (see DE, or some other bonus) -

An easy way of further differentiating the look of the Greek civs is use the same model of stone walls (no need for modeling new walls) and just exporting new models with new UV mapping for the Macedonians and Athenians to use, while keeping the old ones for the Spartans (and Thebans). -

Actually, the Spartan walls could retain the current "rustic" texturing while the Athenian and Macedonian walls receive a new UV map, looking more like the clean, square cut texture of the artillery towers (Thebes can use the "rustic" Spartan wall actors).
