    I'm not botany expert, isn't my area but I was investigated about Tropical areas like Mesoamerica and Asia (Tropical area). my point is this kind of fig. and those are more different than we have, or already exist. Ficus Elastica. other tree speciments from Tropical areas. no necessary coastal land.

    some abstraction can be considered unique tech.(its planned have a more developed tech tree, more large less generic.) developing unique religions / belief and trait based in cultural "meaning" like folkloric conceptions. for each prominent god. for examplebonus from farming to cult from Ceres or may be Sucellos.
