===[COMMITTED]=== Ptolemaic Elephant Tower
Mythos_Ruler replied to Sighvatr's topic in Completed Art Tasks
It would be nice if there was a ledge running under the crenels, like this one here (the white towers on the smaller elephants): -
==[TASK]== Etruscan temple

They aren't "logs" on the roof. It's clay tiles, surely. The edge of the roofline has antefixes. Like the Athenian Wonder. -

Great song from a decent movie "The Great Gatsby." -
Your author calls the Britons of this age "Celts" and even refers to continental Celts as "Gallic."

The geometry of your cheetah looks great, zentaoaki. As micket mentions, I'd be a lot happier if you could get it below 1000 tris, but it's not a massive concern, since you're likely to only see maybe 2 or 3 of these on-screen at any given time. Still though, it's always good to have as few triangles as possible without degrading the aesthetics of the final model too much. I can see immediately that the tail could be optimized.

I think it's weird that the player color strips don't go to the corners.

"TechPhase" here would probably be "RequiredTechnology" instead. Make sure to keep the same or similar terminology and methodology.

Yeah, the other ones are better.

===[COMMITTED]=== Town Bell icons and sounds
Mythos_Ruler replied to Itms's topic in Completed Art Tasks
A herald trumpet would be good for the 'Town Bell' (need a new name for this if we're going to use a trumpet). I don't think there needs to be multiple different levels of town bells. Just the town bell and then it switches to a "back to work" button. -
The game represents the Romans during the 2nd and 3rd Punic Wars. It is probable we will not put in the Marian Reforms, but we can talk about that more when more features are added to the game.

Civ: Eastern Romans/Early Byzantines

Byzantine Wonder can be the Hagia Sophia or Hippodrome. -
A cheetah texture should be relatively easy to paint in Photoshop or Gimp, especially if the artist already has a texture for reference.

A new building will definitely need this as well: <BatchTimeModifier>0.8</BatchTimeModifier> Or else it will error. If it is a building whose parent is already a unit-producing template, then you don't need it.

See how the Hellenes wall gate actor does it.

The Athenians did not call themselves "Athenians." Neither did the Persians call themselves "Persians." These are Anglicized words. The Macedonians called themselves Makedonikoi. Yet, we are calling them Macedonians, because that's how English speakers know them. Likewise, English speakers know "Gauls" as those Celts who lived in the region called "Gaul" in Latin. It is very likely the Iberians did not refer to themselves as Iberians. "Carthage" is Anglicized, coming from Latin, "Carthago." I don't know what my point is here. Other than to say that it is all rather arbitrary.

I like the attention to detail with the armor and clothing and mustaches. However, the composition, as others have said, is kind of odd. The right side and the left side don't even seem to be a part of the same scene. But again, I do like your style. I'd love to see more.

I'd make the tower a bit taller. I think a lot of our wall towers are too short, so might as well start with this one and have it be taller. Maybe 20% taller.
-
The Belgians could straddle the Celtic and Germanic "cultures" of the game the same way the Macedonians will straddle the Greek and Successor "cultures." That's one possibility.

One of the problems I have with the Egyptian buildings right now is the oversaturated stone colors. Makes it look cartoony compared to the others.

We can look at both approaches.
