As you've already noted I don't comment publicly on specific cases of moderation. Everybody affected by moderator actions will however get a detailed explanation of what he did wrong when asking for it privately. I can assure you that each and every moderator tries to be as objective as possible. If anybody believes a moderator doesn't follow the rules for moderators as documented in https://wildfiregames.com/forum/topic/121838-moderation-of-multiplayer-lobby-irc-and-forums/, please let me know. Players affected by moderation actions may feel that they are treated unfairly, as they're often not aware of how other players are treated for similar violations of the terms of use. In addition, other players might not be prosecuted for similar violations, because no moderator was made aware of such violations. That's why I can only repeat that it's important to report players which violate the terms of use to one of the moderators! There are also players which will use the missing public reaction from moderators to claim they're being treated unfairly, while knowing that they're not. How violations of the terms of use are sanctioned depends on the severity of the violation and the number of violations the player already made in the past. For example for first time violations of low severity a verbal warning or a short mute might be issued, while repeated violations or violations with a high severity might be sanctioned more extensively. If players decide to continue to violate the terms of use over and over, without showing any will to improve, we might even need to issue a complete ban from our services. That's a situation we try to avoid, but unfortunately sometimes have to take to foster a healthy community. Usually that only happens after a moderator talked multiple times with the offending player, tried to explain why their behavior violates the terms of use and tries to get them to change it. (That's of course only possible if the offending player is willing to talk.) Our goal after all is to have a welcoming community and that only works if certain behavior isn't tolerated.3 points

We might want to make some changes in between the three scenarios just minor ones but that’s beside the point… keep up the good work and make sure to back the map up!2 points

There have been reports that rejoining games isn't possible sometimes, as the rating for the player rejoining the lobby doesn't show up (https://gitea.wildfiregames.com/0ad/0ad/issues/7185). There was already some discussion regarding this topic in the following thread: Analysis of logs for cases where that happened to players showed that in these cases the players show up as connected with two different instances of 0ad to the lobby server. As we can assume they didn't do that intentionally, it's still not clear how that can happen. Workarounds which would fix this problem as well would be https://gitea.wildfiregames.com/0ad/0ad/issues/5320, https://gitea.wildfiregames.com/0ad/0ad/issues/4203 or patching Slixmpp to let EcheLOn keep track of all connected resources of a player, however these would just be workarounds, without addressing the root cause. What I need for further debugging to find the root cause are: whenever this problem happens to you, ping me in the lobby whenever this problem happens to you, reply here with the following information: operating system kind of internet connection (landline, mobile network, satellite, ...) list of installed mods reason why you left the game in the first place (crash, loss of internet connectivity, ...)1 point

Based on my 4-5 years of experience playing 0 A.D., I have noticed that many players are either overrated or underrated, with some claiming their skill level is higher than it actually is. To address this, I propose the following ladder to categorize players' levels: Iron Level (1200 or below): These players are beginners with limited experience in the game. They are still learning the mechanics, and progressing beyond this level may take a few months to several years, depending on the player. Bronze Level (1200–1500): Players at this level excel at booming but are weak in combat and often struggle against rushers. Many prefer defensive playstyles and are not as active in offensive strategies. Silver Level (1500–1700): These players are "eco-bots" with excellent economic skills and strong armies. However, they rarely rush and lack proficiency in advanced rushing tactics. When they do rush, it is often infantry-based. They primarily prefer playing on mainland maps and are less skilled on low-resource maps. Additionally, they are vulnerable to early attacks. Golden Level (1700–1900): These players are aggressive and knowledgeable about rushing strategies. They excel at disrupting the economy of silver-level players and often dominate early engagements. Diamond Level (1900+): These players are highly creative, capable of devising new strategies for both combat and economy. They often serve as role models, with others learning from their gameplay. In my opinion, among last year’s active players, only Vali, Borg, and Vinme belong to this elite level. Note on Cheating: Some players use tools like ProGUI auto-train, hacked auto-civilization selection, or multi-click mice. While some may argue these are not cheats, in my view, anything that provides an unfair advantage is cheating. These tools can artificially elevate a player's level. For example, a bronze-level player using cheats might appear to be at the silver level. Therefore, players using such tools should be demoted by one level in their ranking.1 point

Scenarios 1, 2, and 3 all take place at the city and its surroundings. So, I'm hoping to be able to use the same map for all of them (the one that I'm creating right now). But we will only see whether that is actually possible once we get to the concrete implementation. Scenario 4 will definitely require a different map, though, if we decide for the idea with Hemeroscopium as the final target, since that city needs to be situated further to the North (somewhere not covered by the first map). But it might be possible to reuse parts of the first one for it.1 point

No report from somebody without a rating yet, so yeah, worth keeping that in mind, even though I believe it's unlikely to be a contributing factor. Who knows, maybe a27 will already fix this issue.1 point

have you had a report from someone without a rating? I wonder if ratings could not be the direct cause but one of a handful of contributing factors.1 point

@Dunedan in the last topic you closed, you say you won't go into details, if there are surely things you don't need to talk about, there are still hanging question I feel I legitimately can ask. I've witnessed myself 2 forum threads that weren't doing anything wrong, no insult or nothing, just friendly jokes that you deleted for no reasons. Geriatrix is known for having break some TOS, to also have bullied some community member... These are regrettable and punishable offenses, but a lot others did the same a just get muted, and that seems appropriate. He is an important member of the MP community so, and the community is rather very small, so I'd like to ask you clarification on: Are you actually banned his account regularly, even when he return without breaking any TOS? Is there more offenses he did that would justify your actions that the one we already know about? Why are you silencing off-topics and jokes that he participate in? Is there a reply from him at the time you delete the thread that justify it? I want to be reassured that your trying to do the right thing and that no hate is leading your action, currently I (and probably others too) have more cues toward Geriatrix being unfairly treated then anything. But it's also because we hear from him more from him then for you. Kind regards, Atrik1 point

I just happened to catch a player while they had the problem and was able to ask some questions: OS: Ubuntu 24.04LTS 0ad installed as snap package no second pyrogenesis process running, as verified via "ps" installed mods: Feldmap and autociv, disabling them didn't help using WiFi at home and landline connection to the ISP Having more of such detailed reports would be helpful, as a pattern might emerge.1 point

Hi, I have no account left, all forbidden to connect to lobby, Geriatrix included, so the full ban is effective and then I retire from now by force. Before leaving, a big thank to the German Squad and to my main 1v1 opponents (by number of games) : berhudar, @borg-, @vinme, @JC (naval supremacist), @Marcus Aurelius, @chrstgtr et al. (very sorry not to list everybody with who I have enjoyed playing this game for so many years to this cut - that would overflow the forum) Enjoy 0AD and good luck for the next release. Thank you @Stan` et al! Geriatrix PS a27 looks very promising from what I locally tested.1 point

As you said, many players frequently break the rules. But only one player got banned. That banned player was also the subject of many pages of complaints on the forum, which were authored by basically just one person making the complaints (who notably needed frequent reminding of the forum rules in their rants). The rules should be equally enforced without preference or prejudice for/against anyone.1 point

I don't know if it's because I'm demanding, but there is always room for improvement. I miss the size of the art team we had from 2015-2020.1 point

At Wildfire Games we try to create a safe and welcoming space for all players. As everywhere on the internet, this can be challenging. While we try our best to do so, we also rely on volunteering moderators from the community to help us to enforce our Terms of Use. While enforcement of rules is always subject to interpretation, there are some principles which guide the work moderators do: Moderators are expected to be role models and follow the Terms of Use. Moderators must not engage in conduct that would be considered harassment, coercion, or intimidation. Moderators must treat all players according to the same standards. There must be no arbitrary preferential or punitive treatment of individual players. In their role as moderators, they must only use official channels for communication, in particular only the official multiplayer lobby server, the official 0 A.D. IRC channels and the official 0 A.D. forums. Moderators must internally document the reasons and details of corrective actions they take. Moderators must not share details about corrective actions with people other than the involved parties, other moderators and members of Wildfire Games. Moderators must not share personal information about players they learned in their role as moderators with anybody who isn't a moderator or member of Wildfire Games. If you feel a moderator violated these principles or if you'd like to support us with moderation, please send a private message in the forums to @Dunedan. Aside from members of Wildfire Games the current community moderators are: @rossenburg @Palaiologos @MarcusAureliu#s1 point

I like the idea of at least giving the commander player a hero unit. Perhaps when this unit dies it can be retrained at one of the team's CCs. Furthermore, this unit can only be retrained X number of times and costs more resources for each revival.1 point
