  2. 0 A.D take the history in your hands! The first time I played Age of Empires I fell in love, but with 0 A.D I got married. ------ now to the point --------- As it is already in the final stage of development, there is Alpha. There is no room for anything new. continuing the series of wishes for the next Alpha. I wish: More technologies for early and second phase. more cultural and religious background.(Bonus in stats and HP, XP). More units. new sub classes. ( Differentiate units with little armor and with a lot of armor) More maps. New modes. More differentiated factions. More strategies. More AI development.

  3. Another way to solve identification problem: give everyone an ID number and a public name which can be changed. You can recognise everyone by their ID but they have the freedom to identify themselves as whatever. I can change the name and profile photo as I wish but the ID cannot change, nor the QR code.

  11. that wasn't my point. I'm trying to let @Sevda know how things will look like incase there is an agreement on a rename feature.

  12. this can be introduced in the game, changing name and maintain ID. I think i did this in a dummy mod i was working on. Allowing users to change names is easier to integrate but this can also increase impersonation. I have a mod that works fine for this feature; but eg.- i can my name to your name "Sevda" whiles you were offline - It will be successful and my name will show Sevda in the lobby. When the real Sevda tries to login with the same name he will get a message saying "user already logged in". I dont know how this can help reduce smurfing but if somehow it does, then i guess there should be limit. Social media is completely different from the game , other RTS games allows u to rename ofc but they have a way to prevent players from abusing the rename feature - they are encouraged to buy an asset like a rename card or something or there's a time limit. I guess limitation should do if its ever considered to be added @Sevda Case where you try to change name to an already logged in player: When the player is offline, you can rename to their name ( but cant take their ratings data since playerId renames unchanged). Maybe there can be a workaround to prevent people to changing to an already existing names regardless of either they online or not

  13. I remembered one very important thing about diplomacy! Due to the fact that the game often slows down and the ally/neutral/enemy buttons are very small and too close to each other, it is possible to accidentally declare war/neutral on an ally. And he instantly becomes an enemy/neutral. What if you do it like in Age of Empires II, when an ally or a neutral, instead of declaring war/neutrality, simply starts to resent, sending messages to the chat with sound, and only after a certain warning declares war or neutrality. At the same time, in Age of Empires II, even with a former ally/neutral, you can still restore the union/neutrality by fulfilling its conditions. And the lower the AI difficulty, the higher the chance to restore neutrality or alliance.

  15. I am just trying to copy this from https://www.moddb.com/mods/hyrule-conquest/news/rolling-ridge-and-wizzrobes A look at two of the Minor Factions you can recruit. Posted by The_Undying_Nephalim on Aug 16th, 2022 Today we'll look at the two last Minor Factions that will appear in the next release of Hyrule Conquest. Gorons of Rolling Ridge In the mountain ranges of Labrynna rest the Gorons of Rolling Ridge. Shy, reclusive, and a myth to many in Hyrule, this particular race of rockmen was quite distinct from their mineral-eating, lava-bathing brethren. Although it was quite easy to make friends with the passive fellows, finding them in the first place was a daunting task in itself. Rolling Ridge provides players with a set of durable and high-armor value units, many which have Camouflage. Factions that lack in durable unit options, such as the Kokiri and Fairies of Tarm, are prime factions to seek out the aid of Rolling Ridge. Their unique building is the Talus Mine, which can endlessly harvest Material from the ground to use for building new structures. Bracer - These smaller Goron warriors spend most of their time dancing and eating between the Talus Peaks and Mount Ebon. Despite their shy but friendly personalities, they are more than capable of defending their homes with fists of solid rock. Pebblit - Like the larger Stone Talus, Pebblits spend a vast majority of time laying on the ground as harmless rocks. They can be stirred into aggression and provoked to chase hostiles, and indeed many on the Talus peaks do. Bastion - A giant Goron of Rolling Ridge, the Bastions defend their homelands from would be miners and gem seekers. Using their two massive stone arms, a Bastion can pummel anything smaller than itself into rubble. Buster - High on the mountaintops of Rolling Ridge these Gorons perch themselves, tossing giant boulders from above onto invaders down below. These skilled Gorons are sometimes known for causing "boulderstorms" when bored. Stone Talus - These massive stone creatures seem to spend most of their time as dormant rocks and boulders on the mountainsides of the Talus Peaks. For reasons unknown, they will occasionally spring to life and violently attack anything that moves around their resting place. The Stone Talus on Rolling Ridge are particularly powerful, and the native Gorons have taken the effort to somewhat domesticate these giant lumbering monsters. Smog - The Elder of Rolling Ridge and his tribe of Gorons, Smog advises his people with his centuries of experience from the top of Crown Ridge. He spends most of his day in communion with the Goron spirits, ingesting all manner of smokey incense to aid his connection. When threatened he's able to turn his mastery over the smoke against his attackers. Wizzrobe A truly ancient people that once ruled much of Hyrule, legends say that the Wizzrobe undermined and destroyed their own civilization with their powerful sorcery. Their cities sunk beneath the earth, and for centuries they have maintined a shadow cult-like culture in the darkness of Hyrule's mountainous catacombs. Occasionally these dark magicians make their way to the surface, using their wizardry to raise their ruined cities from beneath the earth. The Wizzrobe provides players with a powerful selection of Mages. Factions that are lacking in any kind of magic damage and defense, such as Moblins and Gorons, would be foolish to not consider establishing an Embassy with the Wizzrobe. Their unique building is the Magic Circle which will not function in the next release, but once completed will be able to teleport your armies anywhere within your territory. Fire Wizzrobe - Perhaps the most common spellcaster in the Wizzrobe ranks, control over fire seems to have been the easiest form of magic to master. These pyromancers use their magic to create and unleash steady streams of flames at their enemies, incinerating just about anything in seconds. Ice Wizzrobe - Wizzrobes skilled in the arts of frost, these icy magicians could halt enemies in place with their cold magics. Earth Wizzrobe - These magicians could will the mineral earth to their command, creating barriers and projectiles out of rocks. Some of these geomancers could hurl boulders large enough to rival catapults and other siege weaponry, crushing multiple enemies in an explosive blast of rubble and dirt. Illusion Wizzrobe - The art of Illusion was one of the most difficult schools of magic for a Wizzrobe to master, and certainly one of the most dangerous. An Illusionist faced the danger of losing all touch with reality, becoming lost in their own creations and mirages, and developing crippling paranoia and mistrust of anything. Those that mastered the art could use it to terrifying effect on their enemies in battle. Conjurer - Conjurers were select Wizzrobe that had devoted their study to the creation and summoning of arcane and magical creatures to do their bidding. A powerful Conjurer could materialize an entire army of loyal minions under his command. In the next release of Hyrule Conquest they will be able to summon Mad Scrubs, Armos Statues, and Twilight Zora. Carock - Carock is among the most powerful of the known Wizzrobe, and there is little other information other than that. He has been tied to many assassinations and overthrowing of monarchs, making him one of the Sheikah's prime enemies.

  17. I am just trying to copy this from https://www.moddb.com/mods/hyrule-conquest/news/zuna-and-tokay A look at two of the Minor Factions you can recruit. Posted by The_Undying_Nephalim on Aug 11th, 2022 Today we'll look at two other Minor Factions that you can employ in Hyrule Conquest. Zuna Perhaps one of the oldest races native to the Gerudo Desert, the Zuna are an isolated culture of reptilian builders and weapon crafters. Though they seem fairly cordial with the Darknut Legion, the Zuna will rarely make contact with anyone outside of weapon dealings. The skill with which the Zuna make their weapons is legendary, so legendary that the Darknut Legion employs them to create incredibly ornate swords for their soldiers. Despite their famous profession, the Zuna rarely ever engage in warfare and their mercantile army usually only operates out of defense. The Zuna provide players with an excellent assortment of siege weaponry. Factions that lack many good options for destroying bases will want to consider setting up an Embassy with the Zuna. Their unique building is the Oasis, which can quickly heal organic units inside of a Zuna base. Tridenteer - Wielding their iconic tridents in hand, these Zuna soldiers patrol the confines and borders of the Merchantmen capital, Zunayus. While technically no more than police, these Zuna are sufficiently trained to defend against a full-scale invasion of their homeland. Tribowmen - Along the terraced walls of Zunayus, scores of these deadly archers defended the capital for many generations. The strange design of the Zuna's crossbow allowed it to hold and store up to three bolts instead of one, giving them the chance to fire several shots before reloading. Devalant - Devalants are giant, burrowing creatures with large snapping pincers that can be found in the far western reaches of the Gerudo Desert. They create sinkholes in the sand as they burrow underneath, drawing in their prey. When a suitable target is near, the Devalant will vomit a burning fireball onto its victim. The Zuna were known to occasionally domesticate these creatures, using them as a sort of guard dog for their villages. Triballista - Much like their handheld crossbow, the Zuna Triballista allowed its crew to load up to three giant bolts at a time instead of one. A single Triballista could hurl these bolts at multiple targets, potentially breaking open multiple holes in an enemy's defense. Siege Tower - A giant and mighty battering ram that the Zuna once used to destroy many a castle, they were perhaps most well known from history in the battle against Baral's Stand, where they managed to break into the mighty Darknut fortress. The Siege Tower can effortlessly destroy the heaviest of fortifications and garrison troops inside. Visier Vorday - The wealthiest and most powerful Zuna to have lived, Master Vorday amassed his assets by being a suck-up and yes-man to the various empires of the Gerudo Desert. While he may be seen as a total coward by outsiders, his habit of selling out to foreigners has lead to the Zuna becoming a giant merchant empire and biggest arms dealer in all of Hyrule. Tokay Hailing from Crescent Island just south of Labrynna, the Tokay were, at first glance, a tribal and primitive collection of people. Their odd manner of speaking, awkward behavior, and obsession with mundane items such as clothing over rupees gave them a reputation for being backward and outright stupid. Despite their quirky demeanor, the Tokay proved to be more than a pushover tribe of spear-wielding reptile barbarians. The Tokay provide players with cheap and affordable fodder units, as well as aquatic options. Goron and Darknut players might be drawn to using the Tokay to supplement their expensive units and give them a fighting force on the water. Their unique building is the Big Boss Hut, which provides a large boost to Population Cap and spawns a free Battalion of Tokay Hunters. Hunter - Armed with a spear in hand, Tokay Hunters would skim along the coast of Crescent Island and hunt the many large fish that roamed the sea. When threatened on land they could easily hold their ground as well. Slinger - Tokay Slingers were the defenders of their island homeland, knocking out and tripping up anyone who invaded. Large groups of Slingers could unleash a huge storm of stones with terrifying speed. Bonker - Donning a coconut shell on their heads, Tokay Bonkers were sent skull first into enemy lines. They would ram into targets much larger than themselves, more often than not sending themselves and their foes staggering in opposite directions. Aquadongo Jockey - Riding on top of a breed of Dodongo native to the Crescent Islands, these mounted jockeys can cross through harsh waters where ships cannot. On land they can halt enemy cavalry with their spears while in the water they can keep sea creatures at bay. Guerrilla - These sneaky bands of Tokay have mastered the art of not drawing attention to themselves, something not hard to pull off since most dismiss the Tokay in general. The Guerrilla can hide in open view and sneak explosives into an enemy base, sabotaging their buildings and bringing them down to rubble. Big Boss Otaylo - Otaylo became Boss of the Tokay not because of power, intellect, or bloodlines... but because she bought a blue shirt to wear from Labrynna. With a spear in arms and Coconut on her head, the Big Boss clumsily leads the Tokay on hunting parties and raids against merchants for new and shiny trinkets. Next time we'll take a lot at two more Minor Factions that will make it into the next release, the Gorons of Rolling Ridge and the Wizzrobe.

  18. I am just trying to copy this from https://www.moddb.com/mods/hyrule-conquest/news/minor-factions An overview of Minor Factions and how they will work in Hyrule Conquest. Posted by The_Undying_Nephalim on Aug 6th, 2022 While the name implies small scale, Minor Factions have always been one of the biggest features I've tried to incorporate into every game I've worked on where it's applicable. As far back as Hyrule Total War the concept of Minor Factions was implemented, though to a much crippled degree because of the nature of that engine. With no limits in 0AD, I've been able to expand on this idea. So then, just what is a Minor Faction? A Minor Faction is like any other faction, just with a much smaller roster of units. These factions represent civilizations that have something akin to armies and villages, but trying to come up with six Heroes and a whopping 20 units is extremely difficult and would stretch well into bottom of the barrel ideas. Each Minor Faction will come with five units, a Hero, and a unique Building. In each match you will have the option of picking one of five Minor Factions by establishing an Embassy with that Minor Faction at your Marketplace. Depending on your pick, you will be able to construct their bases at either Camps or Ruins. Think of a Minor Faction as an extra addition to your techtree that can be used to fill a weakness or missing gap in your own faction. As an example, Moblins are severely lacking in any kind of Mages. A Moblin player might be inclined to establish an Embassy with the Wizzrobe, who can provide them with very powerful Mage units. Minor Factions are not free however, and it can be quite a gamble to rush into setting up one of their bases. You'll have to consider how you can incorporate Minor Factions into your techtree and build orders, and this alone can lead to a pretty insane amount of variation. As far as determining what Minor Factions are available, there will be five options per map and these options are based around the biome of said map. For example, on a Temperate map such as Hyrule Field you will see Lon Lon Ranch show up in your marketplace as an option, where's they are nowhere to be found on arctic maps around Mount Hebra. Instead you'll see Yooks or another arctic Minor Faction as an option. Below is a tentative list of all the possible Minor Faction and the biomes that they appear on (please note this list is not final and subject to change): The next release of Hyrule Conquest will only see the introduction of five Minor Factions, and until a later version all of them will be available on all maps. In this article we'll go into detail on the first of the Minor Factions: Lon Lon Ranch Owned by the wealthy and powerful House of Lontha, Lon Lon Ranch is known throughout all of Hyrule for its famous horses, crops, and especially their milk. The Lonthas have amassed enough finances over the centuries that they are able to keep the Hylian Royal Family at an arm's length and operate somewhat autonomously of the crown. The Royal Family sees no issue with this arrangement, seeing as the Lonthas provide the best horses in all of Hyrule to the Kingdom. Lon Lon Ranch provides a player with a variety of units, mostly based around Archers and Cavalry. Their unique building is the Grain Storehouse, which generates a steady income of Food. Ranch Hand - An assistant who works on Lon Lon Ranch or its many smaller branches spread throughout Hyrule. Ranch Hands require little pay and can be hired in bulk to quickly bolster your army's numbers. They are armed with Pitchforks. Rancher - Skilled employees of the Lontha family, Ranchers tend to chores and the managing of Lon Lon's workforce. They carry bows and arrows and are often seen patrolling the walls and towers of the Ranch. Ranch Rider - Riding on horseback, these mounted units are the finest and fastest cavalry in all of Hyrule, rivaling both the Gerudo and Ordona Province. Cowgirl - Cowgirls are swift cavalry archers, and thus one of the most valuable and aggressive units in the game. They can pelt slower enemies from a distance and quickly take off. You'll need fast cavalry of your own or long ranged archers to fight against them. Cow Cart - Carrying around a large supply of famous Lon Lon Milk, these carts distribute the dairy to those under the Lontha's employ. Units will heal faster when they are idled near the Cow Cart. Malon - The daughter of Talon, Malon has been raised by her father with the sole purpose of taking over the family business. From an early age she had quite an affinity for animals and ranchwork, in particular she has a great fondness for horses and has trained many. She rides on Epona, a horse that she has had since she was a young girl and carries her mother's bow and arrows into fights. Stay tuned, in the future we'll discuss the other four Minor Factions that will release in the next version.

  19. So I have little to no technical or artistic experience but I know a lot about Ancient Near Eastern Civilizations and I was thinking that having the Nabataeans or their predecessors the Lihyanites included in gameplay would be kind of neat... They were a major trading power between the Eastern Empires of Assyria, babylonia, Persia, Phoenicia, and Egypt and the Western Empires such as Macedonia and even Rome. Their major cities were Petra (the most famous) and Mada'in Saleh, but also had outposts all over present day Israel, Jordan, Palestine, and Northern Saudi Arabia/the Hejaz. There is a great exhibit on them and other Arabian trade kingdoms at the Sackler Gallery in Washington DC if anyone is interested. Here are some photos of Nabataean architechture: Tombs at Madain Saleh (Below) A Temple at Petra (above) A building in a minor Nabataean city The one below is in a series of photos of Petra http://www.flickr.com/photos/paulmannix/3482513029/

  21. The purpose of this topic is to show in a simple and basic way how to improve your skills in 0a.d with 20 simple tips. 1- SHIFT button. Extremely important, mainly for order of buildings and micro. for example when picking up some wood collectors to build a house, hold the SHIFT button and right click on the house and then again on the wood, so immediately after finishing the house, they will automatically collect wood again. Your enemy is dancing in front of you, and your units missing shots, then select your units, hold SHIFT button, and select the stopped units you want to hit, so after killing the first selected enemy unit, they will fire in the next, avoiding that you shoot the dancer. You have selected 40 units, and you need to select more, keep SHIFT Button press, and select the 15 units, so you have 55 units selected. If you have enough wood and want to build 10 houses, keep SHIFT pressed, select the house and click 10 times in map. SHIFT greatly facilitates the construction of walls (make a test). 2- CTRL button: mainly required to select units. Let's imagine that you have 10 archers, 10 lancers and 10 women, you select them all, then in their interface show 3 small squares in the center with 10 archers, 10 lancers and 10 women. If you hold CTRL Buttom and click on the square of the 10 women, then you take the 10 women out of the selection, stay only 10 archers and 10 lancers, its is very important especially when suffering from harassment. CTRL button is also a shortcut key for storing units in buildings. Select the units, keep CTRL button press, and right click on the building. 3- U buttom. Shortcut button so that the units exit from within the buildings. 4- Two left mouse click. Press two left-clicks on mouse on archers for example, then all archers in your sight will be selected. 5- H button. Your units attacked the nearest unit. 6- Dance: the units automatically attack the nearest units, then select a unit and send it to the front, then click with it from side to side, you can use the SHIFT for this. 7- Storage. Must be made as close just to wood, fruit and hunting as possible. Metal and stone must have a distance that fits the units between the metal/stone to the storage. Doing too close will make your units have to walk a unnecessary distance. If necessary, make two or three. As your wood is cut make new Storages. When there is enough space for a new storage. 8- Outpost: Vision wins game, simple as that. Have vision so you will not have any more surprises. 9- keep some women close to the men, so that the collect gain 10%. 10- Tips for using with CTRL and U. I'll use an example that I only use at the moment (I did not see anyone else use until then). you are playing with iberians, and you are collecting outside the walls, so your enemy attacks you with some horses, you have no way to defend, and the gates are too far for you to run, what do you do? Select your units, press CTRL and click for units to enter the tower of the walls, then quickly click the U button several times so that the units exit quickly (Do not forget to select for the tower to unload the units inside the city). The same can be done with several types of constructions, in several occasions, use your imagination. 11- manipulation of animals: some animals can be manipulated in your favor. If the animal is too far from its storage or CC, hit him, and continues to walk behind it (no more hits), this will take the animal to the desired location. Walruses are aggressive animals, so if you hit a shot at him, they will go after you. then it is important that you select a unit and walk on the map giving a one hit on each,(preference ranges unit) and then send your unit back to your city, all walruses will follow. 12- Buildings within the radius of attack of the CC. An important tip especially for the beginning of the game, keep your houses and other possible constructions within reach of your CC, if your enemy rush you, he probably could not convert his constructions (If this happens, you probably lost the game). 13- Avoid fighting within range of towers and castles. Just fight if it's in your favor, if that does not happen, fight in another region, or make small attacks in multiple places at once. This is a regular mistake among beginners. 14- Whenever possible, make economic upgrades. Serious error between beginners and good players too, and plsssss, baskets upgrade are very, very important, basically you reduce 50% of walking time (first upgrade). 15- In fights whenever possible have melee/tank units on the front. Has already been proven in several tests that melee + ranged can win fights vs only ranged (Of course this depends on several factors). 16- Use constructs like houses/barracks to reach some resources beyond the edge. 17- keep in mind some basic things about factions / units. You are playing on Mauryans and your enemy is Romans, you do not know what strategy he used, but you should avoid some. Example, If he is a smart player it is likely that he will use spear horses against you for the simple fact that archers can not stop them, so what should you do? Make some lancers instead of archers, this will block it. 18- Preferably to armor upgrades rather than attack. Armor upgrades are cheaper, and reach more soldiers than attack upgrades. 1350 for +1 armor for melee and ranges units or 1500 for 20% attack only ranges units? 19- Balance eco. This is the most mistake among all players. Try to keep your economy always balanced and in progress. If you are collecting fruits, and they are running out, do not expect them to end up for making some farms, make before. If you are going to attack/defense, do not use all your units of a particular resource, only in special harassment and specific strategies. This will cause your economy to stop, you will have to switch resources, and this will see a snowball. 20 -keep an eye on the time. Minutes are important so you knew how well or how bad it is going. For me, for example, I know that if I'm in the minute 14 and I'm still in phase 2 in a game without major problems, I'm late, If I am playing against a good player, I can be in serious trouble. Maybe I even have a larger population, but if it has some rams or elephants, this can complicate me. I memorized some schedules, this facilitates my games, I know when to attack, pass phase, and i also know when the enemy probably attacked me in a probable rush. Well there are several other tips, but I hope that in a simple way I can help raise the level of the gameplay. Tips from other players are very welcome.

  22. NOTE: THIS IS A REVISION OF THE ORIGINAL PROPOSAL BASED ON FURTHER RESEARCH AND GAMEPLAY CONSIDERATIONS. THE FACTION WILL NOW ALSO COVER THE FIVE DYNASTIES AND TEN KINGDOMS PERIOD AS WELL AS THE TANG DYNASTY, EXTENDING ITS SPAN TO FROM 618 TO 960AD. PLEASE NOTE THAT MANY ELEMENTS IN THIS PROPOSAL ARE INCOMPLETE AND MAY CHANGE DUE TO ADDITIONAL RESEARCH AND GAMEPLAY CONSIDERATIONS. SPECIAL THANKS TO WOLFLANCE FOR HIS INPUT. FACTION PROPOSAL: THE CHINESE Map From Wikipedia BRIEF HISTORY Tang Dynasty (618-907AD): The Tang Dynasty is commonly regarded as a golden age of Chinese civilization where great strides were achieved in science and the arts and military might flourished. The most populous nation in the world, it was home to 50-80 million people and its capital Chang'an was the largest city on earth at the time. At its greatest extant its territory covered as far south as modern Vietnam and as far west as present day Kazakhstan, drawing in a cosmopolitan society of various different cultures. The Tang exerted strong influences to and fought against contemporary kingdoms in Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Tibet, and Central Asia. Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms (907-960AD): The collapse of the Tang Dynasty saw a time of great political upheaval in which 5 dynasties succeeded one another in the north and more than 12 warring kingdoms establish over the span of a few decades. This period saw some of the most important advancements in military technology in history. The battle of Langshan Jiang in 919AD saw one of the fist documented use of gunpowder in warfare. GAMEPLAY Being the most advanced nation of the medieval world grants the Chinese notable technological and economic advantages. The Chinese have a powerful well rounded military consisting of strong heavy infantry and fast cavalry backed by foreign auxiliaries of nomadic warriors. The Chinese are unique in being the only faction with access to primitive gunpowder units in part 1.
