  1. Daaamn. He's got talent. Small advice, don't forget to look to others queens like Amanishakheto and Amanitore for historical materials on the dress.

  2. For Amanirenas Id suggest you take LordGood's drawings as references

  3. @Victor Rossi, if you do Amanirenas, don't be scared to make her a little chubby Strabo also says she was blinded in one eye, which is often interpreted/represented as a badass battle scar across that eye. He also says that she was "manly", although that may refer to her taking charge in the war, rather than a literal physical description. I wonder if she can be made a little chubby in-game (especially around the hips). Since all the heroes were sitting monarchs, you should try to use either a single or a double uraeus (rearing cobra crown), in combination with or without a golden skullcap. refs: Nastasen and Arakamani:

  4. I live in my forest more than my house heh I love hiking through the forest, and just lying down looking up at the beautiful pure blue sky {a lot of time here in Bergen the sky is grey,so much raining in this city lol} or sitting hearing the water flow, and the nature. Yes I bring my lap top when I want to play OAD while in the forest lol It's so much more relaxing than playing on my desktop in my house but when I play with my husband we are in the house because he hates playing on a lap without a desk or table. You have the scorpions and I have the wolves lol Let's not forget there is a bit of danger on our adventures lol The forest so vast and deep holds anything from a hungry wolf to a cute rabbit.,and your jungle holds even more hungry animals lol We do need to plant more trees, and I am one that does plants oaks, and fruit trees, and if more did plant trees we would have our beautiful forests back. It all started with we need resources to money, and greed, and you won't ever change some greedy person's mind, but you can always preseves, and show nature you still love her. What you take from nature you must return, and eventually you will get a favour back from mother nature whether it is another berry bush that you picked berries from or even an apple tree. The best way I return what I take from mother nature is I say a prayer when I am ready to pick a berry or when I am fishing with my favourite uncle. Also a lot should learn how to hunt/gather because our forebears survived just with that skill for getting food, and they were healthy and stronger in the past than now. After domestication everything went to hel from environment to health. You have a great point about what we will question in the future lol

  5. Better to keep in mind you can get a rush: make something like 4 men when you reach 20 pop for a good defense This only when you are P3, before you need just 1-2 barracks Maybe exercise to reach 300 pop in 18 minutes: it is a good archievement. Always keep in mind that a full women boom is not so good in 1v1 games

  6. @Sundiata Awesome! I'm incorporating those into my references. As soon as I start sketching I'll be posting it on the portrait thread to make things more organized.

  7. Those refs are quite decent. Some more South/Southern Sudanese for inspiration: Nastasen and Harsiotef were late Napatan rulers, so they offer a nice excuse to go for a lighter skin-tone, similar to modern Nubians/Northern Sudanese:

  8. Wow, that's some really valuable information that will contribute to making a more authentic character instead of a generic face. Thank you

  9. Thanks, I'll take a look at his work. Nice, I'll look into it Just one last thing. I'm pretty ignorant on the differences in sub-saharan ethnicities, so I'm doing some research on it. I know it is pretty hard to reconstruct such thing as the average Kushite, but it would be useful to know what to avoid in terms of skin tone and facial features. What I've found so far is that the Nuba people closely resemble the ancient Kushites. And here are the references I've gathered for the face:

  11. AOE3 is such a beautiful game, especially a game about the new world, and that whole time era. The time when nations were shocked at what they discovered on new lands from riches to tribes. It's beautiful you can act that out,and experience what the early settlers experienced. There are not many games about the conquistadours or the new world unless you play Expedition, which is a goody.

  12. Yeah it might not be good in 1v1 but in multiplayers it might not do bad as some teams do like one guy collects resources and gives to th other who is millitaralized to fight at all cost he could only do food by 40-45 women but not wood and mines so the others booms with 100:100 men women to collect resources and provide to another or many more.

  14. I have suggested this before, and I think it would be a great idea to have a regular scout that just scouts the map so you can use your cavalry or impourtant units for defending and fighting. The scout can also attack wild animals or enemies if needed but it isn't made for war or massive damage attacks.

  15. Congratulations on getting this to 100%! Since the others aren't around a lot any more, feel free to make the terminology consistent and pick the best terms yourself - maybe message the 1 remaining contributor first, so you can coordinate your work.

  16. Removing micro in the multiplayer so skilled players cannot defeat unskilled players as easily? Skill gap in multiplayer being bad for the game? What!? I do not think you get the point of multiplayer games... Removing a feature because it is used by skilled players to defeat less skilled players so everyone would be the same skill level is... I have no words, I am speechless.

  18. All ranged weapon reloadable units should have a cd between shots, also separate animations and functions (Shot > Ammo > Reloading) and make the firing up to sky instead of directly to units, at least for batallions, single units should stay as they are firing directly. Why (Shot > Ammo > Reloading) because i've made the chu-ko-nu (chinese repeating crossbow) animations and as the name suggest it shot a round of bolts before reloading, and game only manages 1 shot per animation frame and inmediatly goes to reloading function In case ranged units wants to be limited, someone could make a mod making the ranged classes limited per conditions ie; 100 Archers per Archery Range, or 100 Archers per General/Officer

  19. Hi guys, "I figured out the problem", lol It's not ranged units that's the real problem. It's actually the melee units themselves that are the problem! They don't have a directional defense, nor can they make use of shield walls. Many ancient armies fought in formations, especially heavy melee infantry formations were usually the core units in pitched battles. Because they often carry shields, they weren't as susceptible to missile fire as they seem in current games like 0AD. Let's face it, shields are purely cosmetic in 0AD, and as long as directional attacks and directional defence aren't developed, we're always going to run circles in this ranged vs melee discussion. An infantry unit (with shield) being attacked from the front by archers should be able to stand his own very well. But should be very susceptible to ranged attacks from the sides or from the back. This implies real tactics, not dancing units! Currently phalangites for example fight out of formation more than 90% of the time, and considering formations are broke, putting them into formation is a recipe for disaster. I don't need to stress how ridiculous this is.. Melee infantry will never properly come into their own until formations and battalions (and their implied benefits) are fixed and implemented, as well as directionality of attack and defence. I think it's frustrating that there are people who think dancing units are just fine, and there are people that think lack of battalion systems and decent formations isn't an important issue, especially with regard to these kind of discussions.

  20. He is one our historian expert (one of those are still active) he is more concerned about the predominance of projectile units over infantry melee , a undesirable effect probably by bad balance happen in mostly online games. is very unhistorical and effects accuracy. is very weird see armies composed with little melee units...

  21. I'm totally against the people who say that micro is cheating. As @(-_-) said, I personally think that 0ad has to fix some unnatural moves, like horse and elephant dancers ones, or that a single unit can dodge 100+ shots. Anyway, I think that the movements of a infantry hero are more natural (a man is able to move himself really fast to dodge some shots). But I think that many player confuse the word "Dancing" and the word "Micro": dancing is just use (as I said before) innatural moves of a unit with no effort, just clicking the patrol control. The good micro is when you pay attention (obv when you have a quite low number of units) to the single units that are rushing or attacking and you move the attacked ones, to save them and make the enemy lose shots against them (not dancing, just moving): this is a very complicated tactic and players that use it are just very good in the game. If you are moving large masses of units, instead, on the battlefield you can use the tactic I already talked about with more units, or use the hero to run near the enemy units, making them missing shots (but the hero will die if he continues too much)
