A friend recommended 0AD to me three says ago. I've been dipping into it. I'm pretty impressed. I speak as a former senior dev on Battle For Wesnoth, so I have a better idea than most what's required to produce a game like this. Some of you might recognize me for...other things. Well done, everybody. I partiicularly like the attention to historical detail; I can recognize authenticity in the costumes and architecture. This kind of collaboration - attracting more talent than any single proprietary shop can afford to hire - is one of the strengths of open source. I'm expecting great things of the eventual 1.0 version.7 points

Nice! Shouldn't every civ (in vanilla) that doesn't have a dedicate ram have access to these, the most simple/basic/primitive ram? It would help with balancing siege weak civs without affecting historicity... They should be noticeably weaker than covered rams though! It would be horrendous to see 40 archers take 15min to take out one of these...2 points

A maybe good tutorial for making trees, https://blog.michelanders.nl/2018/05/realistic-trees-in-middle-distance.html?showComment=1527188656219#c75831215386337556741 point

Suggestion: separate volume control for music inside/outside a match (I usually leave the MP lobby open waiting for people to join a game while I watch youtube, so the music is incovenient, but I like it when actually playing the game).1 point

Those are some strong lads lol. I'd go for a smaller log with handles and let the weight hang from their shoulders instead of breaking their backs1 point

It could be a nice feature, to change the way of deleting buildings. There are some unlovely things: - buildings can be destroyed by one click without to get significant ressources, this leads to some weird AI-tactics (f.e. destroying buildings before loosing it), even humans use it. - connection between "deleting building / status conquer bar" isn't obvious - sometimes players are cut off from ressources and have a big (useless) city around their cc, but they would need every little piece of material to recruit workers Building needs workers, ressources, time, why not to make deleting buildings the reverse way of it? Plus: - allows to clean up few things: no more possible to delete buildings shortly before siege or loosing it by conquer (normally occupants can't go out without to die), no more need to mix conquering buildings and other elements of gameplay - allows recycling as new ressource income (needs worker, time), more options&fun for players in some situations Minus: - connection hitpoints and recycling a bit tricky to prevent abuse (recycling full damaged buildings, repair ability, .. ) -> possibility to make sink down the building only by owner (reverse of building it): during this action no functionality of building, as it would be built completely new, but full hp&conquer& .. states, repair abilities remain. Ressources are gathered once building got teared down. Reverse of deleting (building up) could be made possible for case owner switches fast.1 point

Incredible man. Just incredible. Make sure to not scale it too large. Footprint shouldn't be any bigger than the Hanging Gardens or Great Pyramid already in the game. btw, I don't think it looks too gray. The light color makes it look "new" to me. Let's see it next to the other Byz structures.1 point

Yes, there were great similarities, often indistinguishable, but that's hardly surprising. Central Eurasia formed a single continuum, there were no real borders; the region was perfectly suited for (semi-)nomadic lifestyle; culture, ethnicity, and language were rather fluid, constantly merged, and were therefore surprisingly homogenous for such an enormous area; steppe peoples rapidly emerged suddenly, replaced each other, and disappeared for centuries. Hunting was a very important part of their lifestyle and deer were one of the largest and most widespread game. The longer and more complex the antlers, the older the animal, and the more prestigious the kill. Divine stags and hinds also appear in many mythologies. It remained an important symbol up until modern times. Here's a beautiful example from 18th C AD Qing China, combining the Persian taste for lapis lazuli with a Central Eurasian golden deer (the Chinese touch is the flower in its mouth): Another very significant and frequently recurring symbol is the griffin, typical amongst Iranian peoples. Now we've seen lots of pure gold, let's finish with an example of Scythian (gilded) wood carving (5th C BC):1 point

Gog tweak their launchers to make them compatible. That's how they manage to make old games like DungeonKeeper work.1 point

Psht, yeah, tell that to the Athenians. But in seriousness, making it an ability that has to recharge rather than a standard attack mode would work.1 point

I guess that you posted on the wrong subforum again. Anyway, standing at the first lanes of the link that a user already posted on another thread: this means that you can modify the game as you fish as long as you say that Wildfire Games made the game and that your version is a fork of their game. ( basically it is like releasing a p2p mod )1 point
