  1. Hey Welcome to the mod section glad to hear newcomers. I guess you can do pretty much what you want for maps Just have to remember that if you use assets froms mods the player will have to have it enabled in order for it to work. Also I made an eyecandy mod on 0admods it's nice for scenarios too. If you have any questions or need something really specific for your map feel free to ask and I might find some time to make the asset for you

  2. Hello there, I have recently commissioned from Manuel Senfft Proto-Germanic voices for my RTS game, Wyrmsun. Manuel Senfft has agreed that the voices be released under the CC0 license, and as such they could be used by 0 AD, if you deem them useful for the project. I know that Germanic factions is something only planned for a later expansion to 0 AD, but it doesn't hurt to make you aware of content that may be useful for that expansion. The Proto-Germanic words were based on the information provided by this Proto-Germanic dictionary.

  3. Yes, the blend files ánd the rigs are all useful. But the 8-direction renders are not useful since 0 A.D. is a true 3D game and doesn't use sprites to display units.

  4. I think your stone tower example would work better with individual upgrading and an option to ugprade all. But I agree that it might be useful.

  5. Would be good to add feature for techs, where costs can be per number of certain entities. So, a "Stone Towers" upgrade that costs various amount of stones depending on number of wooden tower the player has built so far (so, like 25 stone per tower). Another example would be "Spies" or "Espionage" tech that reveals vision of enemy units, cost per enemy unit (like 10 metal per enemy unit). Anybody have any other examples where this would be usefull?

  6. BFME 1 and 2 handled upgrades that way; it made it more painful to lose troops / buildings. I think it works much better for battalions; it would probably be too much effort for individual units (keeping track of which were upgraded, etc.) even if you selected a group of them.

  7. I agree. Would be nice effect! Also, water shadows need to be stronger and color affect by ambient shadow color.

  9. We should have some way that the skybox gets affected by fog too for the player's view (so that you don't see those white silhouette while the skybox retains it's original color)

  10. You could've saved yourselves some work by adding the shields that are already in-game. (just saying)

  11. For triggers you can take a look here: http://trac.wildfiregames.com/wiki/Triggers Also you can see some examples in maps like, A Silent Day in Gaul , Gallic Fields.js, Trigger_Demo.js and survivalofthefittest.js. (The last three comes in withinn the game).

  12. And another tiny update. Modelled (28 faces), baked and textured (normal, diffuse and specular map 256x256) a roman shield as used in the punic wars: ... and added it to the ship:

  13. Is there a "To-do list" page or something where I can find areas in which I can help? I am familiar with digital painting and I think I can also help in texturing (soon) given that someone will teach me or send me a tutorial on how to work them and applying them to 3D models. I have Blender and GIMP installed at my computer, I tried to do 3D modelling last year via tutorials but I gave up Also, how do I make use of triggers in Atlas? I also hope that more Chinese flora props/units will be introduced in the next version of RotE, the Bamboo tree was missing in the props list, I need bamboo tree props for the Han maps. Lastly, is collision between props and actors planned in the future for 0AD?

  14. Nice. Look kind of like King's Landing in GoT.

  15. Thanks for these voices, there's indeed no Germanic faction planned for part 1. So they will not immediately be useful (there's no work started on part 2 yet). However, they might be usable for a mod meanwhile. Also, as the time range covered by proto Germanic is rather big, and it has quite some sound shifts during the time, did you focus on any particular timeframe?

  16. Hey stico thanks for the offer you can contact me by P.m. for the link if you want we will use them. In 0ad you dont have to bake jpgs the engine knows how to use bones and stuff. Though I ´m really amazed you made that in a few weeks. Thanks for the gift and feel free to contribute more if you find the time

  17. Hi, I wish to join you guys as a scenario designer and part-time researcher. I've posted some of my works at my ModDB page http://www.moddb.com/members/wackyserious/images I have a background in map and scenario design, I've designed maps using the map editors in the Stronghold Series which also has map triggers. I am also familiar with Atlas and attempted to do some maps using it. I like to read topics about world history and played a couple of historical video games and mods (Stronghold series, Total War series and mods, Chariots of War / Spartan: Gates of Troy, Praetorians, Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom, Sudden Strike Series, Historical Mount&Blade: Warband mods and Historical Warcraft III custom maps) I mainly play RTS games. The Rise of the East mod brought me here, I am currently captivated by Chinese history specially the Late Han - Three Kingdoms period after watching the Chinese War Epic Red Cliff. Watching the TV series Vikings also brought me closer to Norse, Anglo-Saxon and Frankish history which your projects are also dealing with.

  18. Gaia is a non-playable player/team on Age of Empires series and 0AD, to which all the natural environment units found around the map belong.
