  2. While the idea of putting troops behind walls is both historical and interesting, in the context of current gameplay it is not nearly as efficient as simply breaking the walls with catapults or rams, however there is the other usage of siege towers which is fire superiority, being able to overlook enemy fortifications and essentially clear them or support an assault on them. It is not like we can map an exact historical battlefield anyway. We do not build siege towers on site and then roll them up to the walls, and we also roll them over terrains they historically cannot go over, their very movement is largely ahistorical, so frankly I say add interesting features with the understanding that yes players will probably use it as an infantry carrier/tank or something equally amusing, but that is ok

  4. I heard they plan to kick off the release process for R28 this month.
  5. I think they are in the nightly build now. https://gitea.wildfiregames.com/0ad/0ad/wiki/NightlyBuild
  6. Ok, that is pretty cool, maybe we'll get another release soon so everyone can play with it easily?
  7. https://gitea.wildfiregames.com/0ad/0ad/pulls/7104 Most of the changes are not discussed in the forum.
  8. Wait, Germans are added? Sorry, I'm out of the loop. It would say that's a good idea.
  9. I made a post about music too. It is so good. My favorite is Peaks of Atlas and I listen it even when not playing.
  10. It's not linked to one of the civs? Not even the Britons?!? That's a crying shame! With the Germans added to the game, how about giving them Tavern in the Mist now?
  11. AOE2 as well, I think. yes, that's how I'd wish Siege Towers worked, but first you'd need to fix several things about Walls.
  12. It would be nice if the Siege Tower could do multiple things. In Empire Earth, it was able to drop the troops beyond the wall. It would be nice if it had multiple attacks and upgrades.

  15. Yes, they currently function like mobile defense towers, which is not how they were used historically. I think it would be rather boring to make them just be able to let infantry scale walls, like in Age of Empires 2 DE. Especially since walls are heavily underused in this game. If we decide to do it, then we should make them a lot cheaper.
  16. Understood. But someone else suggested they were weak relative to cost and Dakara, I think, was responding from a balance perspective. Siege Towers are weird because they were important historically, so they’re in the game, but it’s difficult to accurately portray that historical usage in the current game. Personally, I think siege towers should be revamped to provide special building capturing capabilities, which would be a nod to their historical usage. Anyways, I think what you suggested has been suggested before. I don’t recall why it didn’t go anywhere, though.
  17. That is fair, though I am not suggesting my idea because they are weak, but rather because I think it is interesting and a way to add some nuance to them
  18. Working on a trailer/photo mode. It's not SS but raytraced AO, shadows and potentially GI.

  20. The formation control feature in general could make sense for a tip, but using it outside of fights I'd say rather not.
  21. IMO its a bit obscure for a tooltip @guerringuerrin
