Geùvadan started following Re-launch of for Honour and Glory and presentation and 0.d. Dawn of the Renaissance
-

Team based border line style
Obelix replied to ffm2's topic in Game Development & Technical Discussion
Thank you for your approach! Is Issue #3695 (team border styles) related? -
People always build towers and research 'Sentries' in the hope of having a strong defense system after research completion. But, a tower without garrisoned soldiers is a present for your enemy. Better destroy your own tower early before letting it fall in the handy of your opponents, if you're not capable of garrisoning your best swords men there. It's not a bug, it's not unintended, it's part of the players own strategy.

Hey, i want to report the problem with muguiwara. He said that i lost connection and he paused game, but im actively tried to rejoin i couldnt. this isnt my problem, because i could normally chat in lobby, and comunicate with others. commands.txt metadata.json
-
no, just "rejoin" or something like that in the middle of the screen, that's how I usually join, but it took a very long time to load
-
You're welcome. What exactly didnt work, was there an error message?
-
Okay i guess i will report, but still dont sure if im right (he said that he apparently waiting for me ) thanks

Hi Normally, rejoining works fine. However there is one known bug: Sometimes (very rarely) the rejoiner doesnt rejoin as player, but as spectator. You would see this. However, ragequitting in 0AD is quite common (at least if the players have low rating). Especially when players see the enemy executing a winning attack. So you might be interested in this thread: https://wildfiregames.com/forum/topic/107081-ratings-disputes-and-offence-reporting/

@hyperion The times it happened to me I was on Vulkan and had played awhile. What I found curious: when I killed the game after 1/2hr or putting the laptop to sleep and waking it up again, there was one last entry in the log about loading something (after I sent the kill command). As that specific item didn't seem necessarily suspicious to me I didn't save it tho.

BUG - Game incredibly slow/freeze at start because because of 1 player.
hyperion replied to Atrik's topic in Help & Feedback
Thanks, Going by the video the issue is likely the simulation freezing due to a player not sending his turn end signal within a reasonable amount of time, which is different than the game freezing. For the player causing the issue this might indeed look like a game freeze tho. That would also match @Gurken Khan report which I first thought to be unrelated but actually might be the same. Given that in one video there are still sporadic simulation updates happening it's not a hang but something taking much more time then it should. So of most interest right now are logs / OS / hardware from players causing the issue. Looking at the mainlog of @erictommy there are a few mods which are unlikely to cause the issue but at least in theory could, so keeping an eye on what mods are enabled wont hurt at least. That mainlog also contains warnings for compiling glsl shaders. That is reasonably suspicious as it also happens early in the game. Maybe a problematic GL driver might be the root cause. That could also explain why 0.27.x as there where major changes there to support Vulkan. Players causing the issue might want to try switching to Vulkan if possible to see if it helps. Trying to update the driver is certainly a good idea as well. I'm not yet able to reproduce it so more hints are welcome. -

Hey! what if enemy that hosting server 1v1 lost connection, so i cant play and join? im sure i would win the player that hosting game is Muguiwara (819) ranking, and im PolishEmperor (1161) We played one game and it was fine, but in next one i just lost connection, and cant rejoin . i think he left or something. I lost connection exactly when i tried to attack him with my army edit: muguiwara said that he paused game, and waited for me to reconnect, but im actively trying to reconnect and it wasnt working. so is this game issue?

Currently ping stats dont match with player index in team game, the peer number is based on join order as far as i know, and we have to keep track of these in head. If someone changes teams the peer number will get all messed up So its really hard to see which players lag and which dont I suggest better ping visuals/stats that match the username. Or display a green/yellow/orange dot near each player username that indicates ping. So that we know which players to ban

@hyperion https://drive.google.com/file/d/15vGn4ddL1nNRbtZeXqI5sqKLhm7zyNAt/view?usp=sharing This is another example. The game was originally hosted by @erictommy, and everything was going fine until several spectators joined at some point. One of them caused an OOS, but we continued the match for a few seconds until the simulation completely froze (the GUI was still responsive). levai was one of the active players in the match — I don’t remember if he left on his own or was kicked, but once he was out, the simulation started working again. When he rejoined, the same thing happened: simulation frozen, GUI functional. We decided to save and rehost the match, this time with me as the host. After everyone loaded in, the simulation was frozen again. Once levai left, it resumed. So we saved and hosted again, but this time replaced levai with RangerK — who happened to be the player that, when kicked or banned, allowed the simulation to continue normally — as if there was a problem tied specifically to that slot or civilization. What’s strange is that the simulation started failing when a spectator joined the game. Until then, everything worked fine and levai hadn’t shown any lag or other performance issues. A preliminary hypothesis is that this bug occurs when a player or spectator finishes loading the game or map. Why do I think this? Because the only thing I can clearly identify in common between a match just starting and one already in progress when a spectator joins, is the act of loading the game/map.

Good point for the game resign at pause. That really happens quite a lot. It must be so disappointing for the player who rage resigned not to see other people's reaction before he leaves. I know we don't re-download the full replay on rejoins, but I only mentioned the game reload because it would be required to have that feature to allow rewinding the game in the cases when you do have the full replay. I was only talking about allowing you to replay what you have already watched while spectating. -

The Iberian conundrum - Solving a misleading patchwork
Genava55 replied to Genava55's topic in General Discussion
Maybe it can start with a unique building, like a general embassy where you can recruit Viriathus or Caros or Corocotta. They would be unique heroes filling the unique slot the player can use for the hero. But each one of them can set a unique building to start the construction site. From these unique buildings, new units, techs etc. can be available. -
@hyperion https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BUfQS7Vyi9jUcRVY7M2IW_P4VFA_JUF_/view?usp=drive_link Sharing through drive bc file is too big This happened today. Unfortunately, I didn’t start recording from the beginning, but the behavior is exactly what we mentioned earlier: The game starts, the GUI is responsive, you can select units and buildings and issue commands, but nothing moves and unit production doesn’t start either. The suspected player gets kicked or leaves, and everything starts working normally. In this case, it was reza-math, who often plays in my matches. It could be a "false positive" and just a connection issue. But I think this is the kind of behavior we’ve been seeing more frequently lately. @Atrikcould you confirm this is more or less what you described? reza-math is using Windows 10
