wowgetoffyourcellphone
Female Citizen References Here's some references for female attire. Just remove the jewellery for non-royal versions. Some texture attempts: Could be improved: Comment: I've made 3 skin tone variations for these female textures, the tones are available in the female base psd. wackyserious
Do you have a 512x512 copy of the original skin tone? The one that I recovered from 0ad source had cropped parts on the upper arm area. Left: Skin tone that I use Right: Adjusted to the skin tone that you have uploaded
wackyserious
@Sundiata What would be the lightest skin tone of an ancient Nubian?
Sundiata
The lightest one you just shared. Representing Southern Egyptian & Northern Sudanese (modern Nubians). The more southern Meroites would have been very, very dark (like modern nuba people). Edited August 13, 2017 by Sundiata

wackyserious
Darkest possible filtering, going further will make the skin lose its detail.

One of the benefits of a spec map is that is makes some detail pop out.
wowgetoffyourcellphone
@Sundiata: Footwear. Basic and Advanced = barefoot. Elite = sandaled? Need references for headgear. Basic, Advanced, Elite. I suggest Basic just be a plain head, no gear or paint. Edited August 13, 2017 by wowgetoffyourcellphone

wowgetoffyourcellphone
Just now, wackyserious said: I'll try to work on the spec_map tonight It's very simple. Make a copy of your working file, then apply a desaturation layer over everything. From there you can lighten and darken things on a per-layer basis to get the highlights you want. Lion.Kanzen
@Sundiata what about war body painting?
Sundiata
If the Nuba mercs make the cut, they're the ones that should get some body paint. Painted half white (with something powdery looking), or half reddish, or half white, and half reddish. They're also the ones that could have a wider variety of animal cloths. perhaps, skirmish, perhaps with knotted clubs. Is wackyserious the lordgood of units? Sundiata
Only problem I see for now is that their heads are a different color from their bodies :/

wackyserious
I'd say not even close Lordgood is an excellent artist in all aspects. I just enjoy making unit textures.

I don't think the thong/tassel needs to be a 3D prop. It's very small.
wowgetoffyourcellphone
Priest: Guy in front, could maybe use a bronze/gold helmet as shown here with the cobra piece on the forehead. Also maybe a new staff. Some textures so far:
