forestcomber Posted Sunday at 15:58 Report Share Posted Sunday at 15:58 It would be great to have some level of or option for intrinsic / automatic (unassigned) building repair by units having that skill. Just like the priest or doctor unit intrinsically heals nearby injured units. A farmer wouldn't stand idle while their farmhouse is damaged. The same goes for any unit with building skills. This seems natural to me and would allow the player to focus more on strategy. I love this game, love the music !

However, it doesn't really make since that the farmer just being near a building should repair it, since he is just standing there. However, what if idle workers (defined that way because their last order was to build, gather, or repair) automagically would start repairing buildings?
LienRag Posted yesterday at 14:00 Report Share Posted yesterday at 14:00 At minimum we should have units assigned to repair a building then automatically repair other nearby buildings once they finish, like builder do build other buildings once they finish the one that they are assigned to. Or a stance that makes units repair automatically any damaged building nearby. Repairing palisades is a real chore right now because of the lack of such mechanisms. Classic-Burger Posted yesterday at 19:32 Report Share Posted yesterday at 19:32 Similar to the behavior(stances) of military units but focused on civilians. Repair. Gather. Build

Build I think Starcraft 2 had something similar where you could set workers to auto-repair.
ffm2
I'm not really sure about this ... but wasn't it like this in some alpha very long time ago? Or maybe as in you repair something and if that's finished and something is nearby and can be repaired too the unit switches to this one... Or I mix it up with some other game. No, I feel like I remember this too. I think even when you were building something, workers would go repair nearby building once done too. Not so long ago then, I joined in a26. Player of 0AD
For me it's good how it is currently. The advantage is that units will be shown as idle after repairing, instead of doing more repairing. Repairing can be a waste of time. But having one or two units in this repair mode would be kind of nice in general. But if it matters to you setting the repair in queue is also not too much apm intensive.

The funny thing about forums is that they keep a written record of every user’s actions. The sad part is that you post at more than 13x the rate of the people you mock for posting too much. I don't stay stuck in something that has no future. If there are no changes, this game will continue as it is. Stop killing innovation. Without innovation, this game will not grow. If the game is not adapted, it will perish. Trying to make yourself understood is a waste of time. But I'm leaving this on record for anyone who comes and reads it.
