  1. It certainly would be great. But we are trying to make mod realistic. So, mythological creature wouldn't fit there well.
  2. Rock, Paper, Scissors system sucks. In RoN it was terrible. In 0AD units will be more realistic. They will be strong in situations they really were. Pikes don't always have to win against cavalry.... Salo: 0AD is standalone project. Not MOD. But it isn't finished, yet.

  4. Bah, Gentoo causes global warming. Save tree, use Debian.
  5. You scored as Trajan. You are quite fortunate to rank as the emperor Trajan, possibly the greatest of Roman emperors. You have relentlessly expanded the empire and even humbled the mighty Parthian empire. Loved by all, vastly larger than life, you are the model for all future emperors. It is hard to find a bad thing to say about you. HAIL CAESAR! Trajan 75% Marcus Aurelius 64% Vespasian 57% Hadrian 54% Antoninus Pius 54% Augustus 50% Claudius 46% Tiberius 39% Domitian 39% Nerva 39% Vitellius 36% Nero 21% Commodus 18% Caligula 11%
  6. Hey, another Debianist here. Welcome. Would you mind visiting our For Honour and Glory 0AD mod subforum and shoot some ideas? If you have knowledge and interest, of course. Regards.
  7. Well, this would mean, that all Spanish knights would be knights of one order. It would look weird and be ahistorical.
  8. OK. It will look good and also show diversity of italian states.
  9. I think, that it wouldn't be problem if you added put them in you list. Just put them separated as some special units we will keep an eye on and will discuss them later. Just in case we decide to use them. EDIT: I got an idea. What if we make textures for those orders and give them to normal knights. If player trains knights, some of them would be in dress of the order..
  10. Sounds good. But how it would be done. I don't think, that 0AD engine counts with such option.
  11. Now I realised, that first period ends in 800 or so. You are right. At this time it was Lombard. There is problem we face. At the beginning of our mod, Italy is Ostrogothic. Then it is reconquered by Byzantines and then captured by Lombards. I mean three nations with different style and units took place in this period. Question is, whose units should be there. Mixture would look weird.
  12. Fine. Do it in AoK style. About that feature in AoE III, I don't know it. I've never played AoE III. But keep in mind, that Knights of Santiago fought for Spain (AFAIK), so other nations sending emissary shouldn't be able to train them.
  13. I don't know. i don't know much about this period warfare.
  14. Cossacks included Venice. And they had unique ship Galeass.
  15. I think, that France and Germany should share many, if not all, units in first two periods. They were united in one kingdom, anyway.
  16. What is difference between Stradiot and Light Cavalry. I thought, that Stradioti were Light Cavalry, weren't they?
  17. I think, that first period should be Ostrogothic or Eastroman rather than Lombard. Belisarivs and Narses conquered Italy on Ostrogoths for Byzantines. Byzantine rulers didn't take much care about it and therefore they lost it to Lombards. I like native names. It just looks good. It isn't that much important but looks cool.
  18. Research is fine. Berserk -> Berserker
  19. So, if I make simple square mesh, which should be shield, and then form it by transparency to different shapes, does it mean, that I can't use player colour on it? That is shame.
  20. I don't know about that ski warrior. I would make him available for player only in some snowy scenario.
  21. Fact is, that Frankish kingdom incorporated both, Germany and France. And it is also well known, that its main striking force was in cavalry. When I think about it, it wouldn't go much against history to have more cavalry units. Time will show whether it won't go much against gameplay and balance.
  22. I understand your point, abadu. Once I ask you to replace or remove units that have stats and usage close to other units of same faction and period and once I suggest to add them. Well, it is pretty chaotic. Problem is, that I don't know if WFG will include Total War style in Part 2 or not. In Total War style, it would be no problem to have heavy cavalry unit along with knightly order. But in AoK style duplicating units would be simply redundant. However, I think, that Knights of Calatrava, Santiago and Aviz (and perhaps other) were quite interesting and important.
  23. Take your time. Your tests are more important. Ratniki Solva were pikemen in Medmod and Kopya were spearmen (in Czech "kopi" means something between spear and pike", Czech and Russian languages are quite close).
  24. I think, that bazaar style already contains all advantages of cathedral. You can easily limit access to source repository. By setting read only to all and write access to chosen will keep you total control over development and make source available to more people/testers. I really can't find another reason for non-opensourcing other than keeping knowledge private. There was also mentioned, that opensourcing would screw multiplayer. I think, that this is not an issue, too.
