  4. It's really interesting to see the results of the survey. More people should fill it in!
  5. At the moment it's just an embelishment for scenarios, but it would be nice if someone could implement this in the game. I think that when one of your units comes close to the cage it should open and the unit inside should become yours.

Cages: 2 models (flat top, rounded top) 3 textures (metal, rusty metal, rust) open & closed model This is what they look like Download: cages.7z Each model is about 350 vertices, I have totally no idea whether this is too many or not, but I don't really think there will ever be very many of these in view so even if it is a lot, this shouldn't be a problem.

  11. What is unique to the romans is that they can build their siege walls anywhere. Mauryans could have two sets of walls (the second one requiring an upgrade), but they can build both only in their own territory. That way the Romans keep their uniqueness, and we give a new unique trait to the Mauryan civ. To my personal taste the lowest one could be the wooden wall and the upper one the stone version. The others look really great too, but these two capture the Mauryan architectural style most in my opinion.

  13. For use in scenario maps? (the units inside the cages are slave actors that have been placed seperately) do people have to be captured, or have they already escaped? EDIT: Latest version: cages.7z
  14. I miss wolf herd behaviour as well. They just wander around aimlessly (and without their legs moving). They should stay together and attack together. I miss having my explorers get killed (really). Many explorers died in the wild, and I believe they should in 0AD as well. Some dinosaurs could be nice (as easter eggs of course) and a dragon for scenarios. Crocodiles, hippopotamuses, rhinos... No having animals scout, I mean: can you imagine a owl drawing a map or reporting what he saw to his master? Dogs helping with hunting is nice though.

Just found this some minutes ago (I'm not a frequent 'Introductions & Off-Topic Discussion'-dweller), but I like it :-) Keep on writing, improving and maybe - one day, if you feel confident - give publishing it a shot. Happy New Year and a 2013 full of inspiration. If I find the time, I might like to read your other chapters some day (but unfortunately most of my time has to go into studying and preparing my next concert, what's left goes to contributing to 0 A.D.) I'm sure you've found the right kind of community to read your writings!

That was the purpose, there is only a small stroke of land on which you can expand, with lots of open space for naval invasions, so it should be hard to defend your whole coast well (with a better naval system of course xD, I tested this map with my sister earlier today. It took me 20 rams, 2 catapults, a lot of spearmen and 5 boats to take over the island (it was, frankly, more difficult than defeating my sister...) Our boats got stuck everywhere (not on the coast or on rocks, no, they got stuck on each other) so naval warfare was a real pain in the ***, buildings floated quite a lot on the uneven terrain. We each had three CC each.

  18. Bombats xD I've played games with Bombbugs and Bombants, even Bombbats, but I've never heard of Bombats xD Could be our alternative for the smithereen guys in AoK?
  19. We can't put any existing superheroes in the game, but why not invent one: Wombatman? Just a crazy idea I had, no idea what that would look like, but the name just sticks. Must be a female hero, or at least a feminist because the name is Wo(mbat)man. Has something to do with wombats as well I guess...

Thanks for your comments. @Pureon: could you specify which textures, I already corrected some inconsistencies over biotope borders (mountains <-> temperate), replaced the rougher ones in the mediterranian part of the map and made the river banks smoother. Updated the attachment in the first post, download the second version of the map there.
