  1. Not sure this is topic to have these discussions, so sorry in advance. But I don't understand first 2 points, what BO would be appropriate and how to come with more cav? I tried without stable to make cav from CC, but then I am behind in women and food production issues later... I tried to disrupt food, but then cav got injured and I had to heal them. Next time, he used teleportation technique from CC and put slingers and spearmans in my face. He was on stone near cc... And slingers have too much range for cav to harass them. I lost 2 horses then I think. He did nice pull only part of women that are on side of CC where attack happens, remaining half just harvest normaly while I lose health (=time). That secondary berries he harvested while I was healing cavs. The only cav that I found useful are Persian 60m range cav. Especially in p2 when you can upgrade them to 70m range. But still , should be easy to defend.
  2. fyi , regarding p1 cav nerf, there's recent tournament game between Weirdjokes and me. I built cavalry and tried to harass but they seemed useless against infantry slingers with few spearmans. I only lost build time, resources and my attention on them. I did @#$% up macro game, but point is I got literary nothing from cavalry. Not sure what I could do with them better. However, I don't find this match is high level, but maybe you guys can see something interesting for balancing. Cheers.

  4. @chrstgtrYes it's skill level. But skill level is defending from opponents' side. I assume skills are similar. Point is that it's risky build and can work only if opponent make big mistake. On other side, you are on bigger risk of making mistake b/c of much micro. Maybe recent Tournament game ValihrAnt vs Feldfeld is example? Vali's attack failed against lower rating player (idk about "skills" tho). Yes, I watch every ValihrAnt game and watched nice Cav play in Vinme vs dakeryas (again vinme more rating than dak). It mostly end up in mid or late game as someone already said. TLDR; I am still new so I will not insist. But I just scared that we will make P1 game more dead. It's already pretty much dead in 99% of ~1400-1500 rating games. Dude you must build cav and do some micro/scouting early game, you can't just boom to 250, send entire army + rams + hero and see "gg". Cheers!
  5. Please don't nerf P1 cav. I use them a lot early game recently. They are expensive and you are on big risk of being overwhelmed just for small mistake. It works only if player is veeeeery slow with reactions to pull gatherers. On other side it's so hard to keep eco going and you either forget housing, resources balancing or unit production. So, I basically helps only to confuse opponent since no real damage can be done. But you are on risk of being confused b/c of a loooot of microing on other side of map. Or you can send them into blob of opponent's infantry during some work around CC and lose them all - I think I saw it in the recent Vali vs Feldfeld tournament game. That's quite disaster. P.S. We talked about that starting from this message: https://wildfiregames.com/forum/topic/83784-introducing-the-official-community-mod-for-alpha-26/page/17/#comment-529865
  6. Yeah I tried with AI and apparently it works. Thanks man!
  7. I noticed sometimes that army goes into formation even though I clicked "no formation" before that. Maybe when I "slide" mouse to make line of units (not sure tho). This causes unit loses for me. So can I turn off this behavior?

  9. I agree, I don't see why propaganda would be involved in this case. I don't even think it's about different interpretation. If I caught it properly here, I see the author who started post, says they weren't infantry but cavalry. Video shared after, says that their role actually changed during history ( I didn't listen it carefully TBH). So it could mean that claim is true, but in same time it's not. We can say it's missing wider context which is common mistake in historians and regular people.
  10. History is very "tricky" science. There is always a bit of propaganda involved in, I believe every in nation history. But despite that, the biggest problem for such far history are Sources. Many books/libraries are destroyed, sometimes scientists don't agree if they should take national "poetry" as valid source, some nations even didn't have book at all until quite recently, etc. Also another problem is "selectivity". Some "scientists" (intentionally or not) ignored sources that doesn't fit their government ideology or goals. Some scientist have valid sources and write what they read indeed, but they miss Context. To understand entire context across different epochs, you need big bran and big knowledge. Etc. So we should not believe there is "central authority" for History. There is no simple truth. There are many layers of truth. So yeah, I agree it's poor when someone is ironic and believe his perspective or his sources are the only valid.
  11. I guess it would be useful to have systematically organized lessons/tutorials for 0AD. There are plenty of videos on YT such as: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfkBgjzDUJA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlrIXzxzUGo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksXxYwhD0hg I also remember some PDF with title something like "From Nub to OP..."... It's all just too much spread on internet and hard for beginner to catch up everything. Idk, how other games have it, but for inspiration we can use OpenRA Academy: https://discord.gg/3AEEuYTn Just use Forum instead Discord. This topic is to discuss this suggestion. What you think about that?
  12. Live stream, casting RAGL tournamet games: https://www.twitch.tv/thekaution
  13. P.S. I watched the YT video and saw you are about to cast my game and was very happy... and then suddenly you thought you have wrong replay and casted another game. So much disappointment for me
  14. He's forum username is different to one in 0AD lobby... That's same person - check here as well: https://challonge.com/sv36zmko
  15. @Pemulis Nice topic. Somehow I skipped musical education in school and childhood and I didn't even pay attention to notes. I couldn't even distinguish what is higher in relative big intervals like between C and G notes. I was fired up with huge powerful subwoofers in high-school and it was about making your hair and body vibrate b/c of pressure, unlike listening notes, intervals, etc. I could distinguish only between bass on 50hz and treble on 5-10k Not so bad, but point is that my brain just ignored "small" intervals like in above example. Recently I bought guitar, started to read/learn musical theory, improve my ear by listening, started to listen more careful church choir during liturgy (Eastern Orthodox church music is so rich). It just opened new world to me - or better to say gave me "hint" of new world. As you noted, now I hate to see how people listen (not listen but USE), music while doing something else. It's used as "background noise" to make something more fun! Disguisting! I also hate to listen loud music on some celebrations here. What's point? It's not natural and I doubt it's good for ears and mind. It's not fun for me. I believe it will get even worse b/c of internet and non-stop entertainment. People will not be able to stay alone in silence. We hate silence today.... we are scared of it. As you said, we can't read books, listen quality music without engaging other senses/mind centers, we can't live without high levels of dopamine that other low-quality entertaintment provides. I feel that personally. It's much easier to play or spectate 0AD for hours than read book for 30 mins. I think that's issue, tbh. It can only cause social and health issues to us.
  16. Idk about charts, but there is some Mod to display information about players. This is how it looks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niQ69mTcYV8
  17. Starting on ~ min 7 - small hunt/horse imbalance. More hunt for ValihrAnt but there are berries for Edwarf so maybe they have equal food.
  18. Just to collect info here, it seems seeh noticed one more imbalance in his video (around min 7-8). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niQ69mTcYV8
  19. As FYI Source: https://wildfiregames.com/forum/topic/83784-introducing-the-official-community-mod-for-alpha-26/page/22/#comment-531609
  20. @thephilosopher Long-term solution is not "don't play maps x,y,z..." and install 3rd party mod. I just hope we don't lose new players b/c of that. Also I'll use chance to remind to "can't join" issue... It can be even more frustrating then balance... Sorry @Feldfeld, I missed that berries.
  21. P.S. yeah he had 800 from trees and 6 sheep. It's total 1400 . I had 1700 from hunt. But it's not big difference indeed. @Feldfeld
  22. I agree that wood/metal is priority no 1. After that, incorporating food balance from Mainland Balanced to all other maps.
  23. P.S. he had 2 trees (800 food). I had 16 animals (1600 food). But he had very near tree and 6 sheep. @Feldfeld
  24. Thx for explanation. Idk, I just think that Farmstead = 2 soliders + build (or res.collecting time), which can be huge early game. I am not sure it's good for competitive games. IDK. On the other side I understand wish to have randomness and I like that, too. I just hope there is better algorithm.
  25. I'd like to share my feedback/suggestion from this Topic: https://wildfiregames.com/forum/topic/93698-map-layout-unbalanced/#comment-531470 I'd suggest to put high on priority list task to fix resource balancing to make 0AD playable in competitive 1v1.
