  1. 20% sounds like a lot. Anyway, Silk Road shouldn't be a team bonus AND a tec.
  2. Nobody jumped on the sad trombone, but how about a sad shell trumpet? I actually think the descending tones, drawing out the last, deepest tone would be a good structure. Do have something deeper than a shell trumpet? I feel it should stand out and sound meaningful, and if it is played only a couple of times per game we don't have to restrain ourselves too much.
  3. Building walls is sooo effing annoying and frustrating. (When it's not just building on flat ground with no enemies around.) "Naturally" I can't rebuild the segment that got destroyed at the end of the wall. Can somebody tell me why I can't build those two segments previewed here? Looks to me like I should be able, but when I click it's just nothing, no foundations laid. savegame-1502.0adsave
  4. Archeologists have discovered an undisturbed tomb in Petra: https://edition.cnn.com/2024/10/12/science/petra-tomb-indiana-jones-discovery/index.html There's been an episode of “Expedition Unknown.” on Discovery Channel about it yesterday.
  5. @Grautvornix The "flooded areas" are the expanses of water without which the strip of land in between wouldn't be an isthmus; and yes, those buildings are built on ice. (I used to avoid that because I wouldn't want to build on ice irl, but whatever makes sense strategically...)
  6. On the one hand I like that the campaigns would be connected. On the other hand I think it's debatable if we really want to hard-lock the later campaigns behind the earlier ones. Do we really want to tell players in which order they can play them? Why not let them pick what they play or in which order?
  7. Maybe that's only in replays; I saw vids with several portraits.
  8. I think there are portraits of allied heroes next to your own hero portrait. You battle lions etc. too, right? I'd just go for a poignant default message not accounting for fringe cases, e.g. the player killing their hero themself.
  9. Works for me (Firefox).
  10. If you go to the top of the page next to the highlighted "FORUMS" is "IRC Chat", you can try and see if someone is online; give them some time to respond if at first there's no reply.
  11. Hi @loreto1, welcome to the forums. I suspect your new modem has different settings from your old, like port forwarding or something. Did you try the stuff in the FAQ? https://gitea.wildfiregames.com/0ad/0ad/wiki/FAQ Or try catching a dev in the IRC chat to help with troubleshooting. hth
  12. @Gerrit Search the forums to find content on them.
  13. I can't really say much about moderation, the people, the processes, the policies. But it seems obvious to me that policies shouldn't be decided by a single person. And it also seems obvious to me that the single address for a complaint about a person mustn't be that person themself. Regarding leadership and inaction: maybe it's time that the people who can decide something decide something. It's been over a year now that @Stan` stepped down as project lead? As far as I'm aware there hasn't been a word since regarding leadership or the general structure of the project. Let's hope we can sort out this situation and the way forward amicably.
  14. Sounds like a you problem to me. Maybe you could elaborate why you hate it? As things are I gonna continue building a ring of fields around my CC with a ring of houses around that, so my women don't have to go to some location to work but work right where they spawn and are easier to protect. (I do some additional farming somewhere in the back.) And what else should I build there? I never build markets downtown but at the very fringes to maximize distances. Apart from incentivizing farming somewhere off the CC with fertile land I guess a bunch of auras could be added to the CC to encourage building urban centers (houses get housing bonus, markets get resource trickles, forges get research bonuses...). If it is deemed worth the effort.
  15. While one could win spamming only f&w units, there wouldn't be access to p3, certain buildings and a lot of tecs, the forge upgrades for example. With a slower eco (very limited gathering tecs) and a weaker army (because of few/no forge upgrades) it could only be successful to a certain difficulty level.
  16. I once again want to mention that I'm very unhappy with the game using different numbers from what is shown to the player. Everything looks like I can build a CC, but when I press the button nothing happens. I didn't even get an error message, which I believe was the case previously. I had to get another metal to build, it's a rounding thing and a fringe case. Still I think it's fundamentally wrong that the numbers and the button make it seem like I can build that structure when in fact I can't. And it's still baffling to me that parts of the game think I can build it (as shown by the normal appearance of the button), while other parts decide I cannot (as evidenced by pressing said button). It would be better if the button was greyed/redded out and told me what the problem is, but ideally there wouldn't be different interpretations of 187. savegame-1459.0adsave
  17. I wanted to point someone to the FAQ, but the gitea version looks like an "AI" generated placeholder, no pics, lots of raw html... So if anybody were to look for something useful to do: I think the wiki could use some love...
  18. Hi @Pippo_Baudo, welcome to the forums. This would belong in the "Help & Feedback" subforum, but don't worry. Have you tried the tips in the FAQ? https://trac.wildfiregames.com/wiki/FAQ If that doesn't help you could attach your logs to your reply so that people could look into those. Here's how to find them: https://trac.wildfiregames.com/wiki/GameDataPaths
  19. Ackchually, some civs don't have spearmen but pikes. And is it "basic" when it's p2? But maybe I'm too pedantic. I'm for rephrasing it to "huge" tracts of land.
  20. Previously unknown Neolithic society in Morocco discovered Multi-disciplinary archaeological survey at the site of Oued Beht, Morocco, reveals a previously unknown 3400–2900 BC farming society, shedding new light on North Africa’s role in Mediterranean prehistory.
  21. I only use snapping when I'm iber and want my houses to align with the walls; the one-click orientation is just faster. I gotta do the actual placement manually though, because the houses ALWAYS jump off the position I want them at when I click; dunno if it's because I use it with shift, but it's annoying. I've tried it with palisades and walls in the current RC and was disappointed it didn't work. You still have to manually look for the right millimeter position if you want it to to start right at a building or mountain. And it's still annoying AF if you want to complete a barricade when (a) segment(s) have been shot out.
  22. I think placement in this case was fine. It's just that that chicken was strolling in 'n out that corner of the CC.
  23. This chicken ran into unreachability, causing (unannounced) idle time; is there still something funky going on with the Han CC layout? savegame-1440.0adsave
  24. Yeah, quite often. I find it aggravating when I'm pulling cav back and some pedestrian motherhugger hits me from ~halfway across the map. Maybe pikemen do it, but of course it's very noticeable with the punch crossbows have.
