  1. Yes, I'd definately have a pretty good lawsuit on my hands Øyvind I try not to be a hero, but if he had gone for me that would have been it....for him As for company hats and vehicles, nothing No hat, no logo on his shirt, just driving a regular early 1990s Dodge pickup. Didn't realize so many folks at WFG were former martial artists You guys all need to start up again If you are wondering, I am a blue belt in Wado karate (only brown belt left before black), and will be starting Shorin-Ryu karate in the fall. Hopefully I will get to train with Greg Reid this fall. In Wado karate he is the #1 practitioner in North America, 8th-degree black belt. Evidently he can break your spine and crush your heart by punching you in the chest.
  2. Hate comes from greed, the basis of all depravity Its simply a desire to have what the other has, or to remove the good that someone else enjoys. I will never understand people like this! But Londoners are tough people and if anyone will come out of this standing on their feet, they will. Already it is not being reported like the Madrid bombings were (admitedly much larger) as a shocking and unreal event, but something entirely manageable. I don't know if this is because of media intent, the fact it is a copy attack from Spain, or the Brits are taking it on the chin but shaking it off quickly. My heart and prayers go out to the victims and the people of Britain
  3. Welcome Matt What's your favorite game for each platform?
  4. Quite the experience actually! As many of you know, I do martial arts (5 years now) and have always been security conscious. Today I was working at the store when a guy walks in at roughly 8:30 PM. Nothing unusual except that the guy was holding a screwdriver in his right hand, along with a small black bag. And holding the screwdriver like a knife I might add. Without a word he begins walking towards the till, not at the counter but to the side where we walk behind the counter. He takes a step up onto the raised dias behind the counter and at this point alarms are going off in my head. At this point I'm about ready go for him. The first thing that came to mind was to grab his right arm in order to control the screwdriver, followed by slamming his head into the cabinets behind the till. A second plan of attack would be to grab his right arm, break it, then see where I was, probably looking for a way to get out of the store. Just as I was about ready to move something told me just take a breath, which is when he said "Pump?" I'm so bewildered that I watch as he walks right past me (although I'm still on the edge) and towards the back where the breakers are. "I'm here to fix the pump," he says again. Then it clicks into place: he was there to fix the pump that had malfunctioned that morning. Of course my boss forgot to tell me that he was coming, plus the entire situation hadn't been explained to me by my coworkers, what had heard was mostly in passing. Plus he wasn't wearing a uniform or anything that might denote him as a repairman, besides the screwdriver in his hand As a result I wasn't expecting anything. Needless to say I began to relax. Rick, as I later learned his name was, probably has no idea of how close I came to seriously ruining his day. Even more unreal is the fact that he lives in Moberly and I've probably seen him before and simply forgot. I am thankful that I waited and didn't just jump into a fight! Strangely there was no fear, only an overwhelming sense of awareness, confidence, and purpose. No thoughts of "What am I gonna do? What am I gonna do?", just simple, logical calculation. Necessity and facts were the only thing going through my mind. My training kicked in and it was all about taking him out as fast as possible if he made a move. Plus I kept waiting to see what his intentions were, which probably saved me from assault charges A very interesting experience to say the least I've never been faced with the very real possibility of having to use violence and it was nice to know that I felt ready and able to take on an armed opponent with confidence of victory/survival.
  5. I worked and dealt with drunks and crackheads in the store....again Being in Canada there were no fireworks I did come home and watch Stargate SG-1 though, LOTS of fireworks there hehe.
  6. ....because of this! I love this strip, its got that right mix of sick humor, celebrity hits, and crazy comedy to crack me up

  10. I work at a general store actually, but the two reserves near where I live are crawling with people into exotic substances
  11. Sounds like my workplace, where there are multiple crack addicts, plus one pusher who comes by every day almost and her gang of runners. Real mess, especially when you see people coming into the store to buy stuff when they are high. BTW, Bic lighters is where it is at, they are the only lighters we sell that are hot enough to melt the crack rock
  12. Sorry John, I did see your request. I was busy going to the movies yesterday I will get it up today
  13. Saw that too, not bad Colm Feore is an excellent Caesar. Needless to say armor and weapons are screwed up, as well as history, but it is quite entertaining Notice that Vicent Regan plays Marc Anthony, better known for Eudorus from Troy
  14. No problem John Really enjoyed the first one
  15. I am waiting for August 20th, my last day of work at the Moberly Lake General Store Had enough of that place Oh and August 31, when I move into dorms at GPRC.
  16. Testudo is in, it is a Roman formation that was in use long before the Empire. Other formations include the phalanx, sparabara, and syntagma. Should be fun Archers will not fight as melee units unfortunately
  17. Poetic as always Ken Its going to be interesting to see what kinds of scenarios/campaigns the community will create for the game. Hopefully we'll get a few original stories from them i.e. Demetrius go with his buddies to Plataea......
  18. I will say that after Rome I will probably play Iberians, very cool civ with very cool weapons, units, and tactics. One could make an awesome movie out of Caro no?
  19. We live in northern British Columbia in Canada, so that explains everything I guess
  20. We have 160 acres of mixed coniferous/deciduous (sp?) forest. Easliy 20,000 at least, probably more.
