  1. Battlestar Galactica is my personal favorite at the moment, although I have not been watching much TV these days Too many good things to do on the computer these days, like work on 0 AD
  2. Hmmm....to add some more info to the discussion, the guy dressed like a Mongol in Moscau evidently died of AIDS in South Africa in 1993 LOL Tunak, Tunak is pretty funny in its own right On a channel I get, forget which one, the viewer is often treated to Punjabi music videos. Some are quite catchy and others are a truly acquired taste
  3. Man, that Moskau video is at once incredibly funny and embarassing. The depths to which people will sink for money. May I be yet another to add my voice to the resounding chorus of past ages that "Disco is dead and we like it that way!"
  4. However if we were to do a highly unlikely Dark Age addon, Islamic Arabs and Turks would be major opponents of Rome's protege, the Byzantine Empire. Although frankly after Part II we will all be looking for something new to do
  5. Brendan has just released the concept art for two new soldiers, both of them super units. The first is the Persian Immortal, famous for their actions during the Greco-Persian Wars and the battles against Alexander the Great. Second is the rugged and unwavering elite professional soldiers of the Iberian tribes, the Devotio. Brendan has truly turned out some magnificent work in these two fine pieces. Activity in the forums has been quite quick as of late, with topics covering many different aspects of the game popping up. In particular the following have been drawing a fair bit of attention: Screenshots We'd Like to See How will the civs play? Additional Civs you'd like to see? Don't be a stranger! Post your opinions and ask questions! We are always happy for lively discussions and keep an open ear for suggestions. Lastly, a new history article, written by yours truly, entitled An Introduction to Ancient Combat has been posted in the history section. It is the first of a series of articles detailing the basics of ancient combat, dealing with fact and history while dispelling some commonly held misconceptions and Hollywood myths. A busy couple of days to say the least, with something new coming to light everyday!
  6. Aww that's so cute Jason :P LOL @Rober and Esteban - Nice to see you guys again! Been a while.
  7. Indeed, if we were going to do the Macedonians as their own civ we would make sure to include the sarissophoroi, but unfortunately we were only able to choose 2 super units (Foot Companions and Companion Cavalry) and three heroes (Philip, Alexander, and Demetrios). We went for the most famous Macedonian units, although in an expansion pack the sarissaphoroi and hypapsists would be in
  8. Not really I think, its more of a general discussion of a piece of equipment. There is very little debate going on in my opinion
  9. And indeed the Romans are not forced to lose such battles, nor is anyone, in the game.
  10. It's been idly mentioned a couple times......
  11. Hehe yes the trout is pretty sweet Do we still have the ? EDIT: Oh yeah Welcome to WFG! Would you care to mention what else you like about the game?
  12. I usually listen to Rammstein or other loud rock, but a lot of times I find myself listening to the King Arthur soundtrack for some reason. It has a way of cheering me up when I'm down Strange but true.
  13. Think hard of one form of ancient combat where the Romans were feared by all who knew them
  14. Yes I have a had dream of making a Bronze Age addon to 0 AD. Get Mycenaens in addition to those you mentioned Aztec
  15. Indeed Vit, there is very little difference! At a purely technicolor dream level I would like to do the Germanics as a general civ with two branches: one for the earlier Germanics of the 1st century AD (Teutoburg Wald era - Suebi/Cherusci/Chatti) and the second for the famous Germanics of the 2nd century AD (the Marconmani Wars era - Marcomanni and Quadi). The main difference being that the Marcomanni and their allies had much better equipment and weapons than the Suebi. Obviously the Suebi would train units faster but on the flip side they would also die quicker. The tradeoff is there. That being said the Suebi branch would probably have one of the highest natural hitpoints for any unit, so assuming one could tech them up a ways it would be impressive.
  16. Sweet Egyptians as in late-Pharonic or Ptolemaic?
  17. In for Part II Assuming you mean Teutons as Germanics in general, like the Suebi, Cherusci, Marcomanni, and Quadi and not just the Teutons who migrated with the Cimbri?
  18. On a purely hypothetical level, what other civilizations and peoples would you like to see in 0 AD if you had to chance to mod them in or WFG put out an expansion pack? For myself, I'd like to put in the: Illyrians Thracians Scythians Diadochi, most likely the Seleucids Anyone else?
  19. Life is going great I've just finished my last final, so this year of university is done. Time to make some money for next year! The game is coming along quite nicely. You have had a chance to look at the screenshot section of the site I'm sure. That gives a great visual reference to the game's status. And there is always something new being added. Curu, good question, he's just up and disappeared. But I'm sure he's going to turn up. As I said before, a lot of older members are coming back We know its really happening when Aldaron or frieddog shows up.
  20. In a way yes, it was becoming hard to tell Spartiates from standard hoplites, hence the change.
  21. Got any particularly favorite WWII small arms? Mine would have to be all German: Gewehr 43, Mauser 98k, and FG-42
  22. Hey Øyvind! How goes dude? Good to see you around Must say we are having a few of the old members come through, Quacker, Aztec Brace, Mabuse, now you. Unfortunately it is has slowed down quite a bit, but we'll see what the summer brings. You going anywhere for the summer?
  23. That is a little strange, but it figures that research impetus would start where the money was coming from. My interest started with my dad, who as a private pilot got me very interested in WWII aviation and air combat in general. That kick started me into military topics of pretty much all areas. Plus both of my grandfathers fought in WWII, one with the US Army (saw action at the Battle of the Bulge) and the other with the Croation Army, and this gave me further interest in military topics in general. An interest in ancient combat started when I was about 5 years old as I flipped through my copy of Usborne's History of the World Since age 6 I was pretty much a lost cause Pretty much now I am a hopeless addict for anything remotely connected to weapons, armor, tactics, or history. As a by product I also have an uncurable attraction to epic literature Obviously through your dad I'm sure you've gotten the chance to sit in a Leopard or two, or even a T-72 Had a chance to see an example of the later in the Canadian War Museum. Must say that is an impressive vehicle, although the Centurion next to it was a bit more to my liking (unfortunately I couldn't affoard that much gas). In addition they have a T-34 that fought at Kursk and all the way to Berlin. Must say that was the brutest machine I have ever seen in my life
