  9. Found a way to get a launcher for linux mint, but i can't get an icon. Can you convert the .ico file into .svg if possible? (icons for my specific OS use that filetype) Did it ma'self. Launcher guide for linux mint 17 qiana (mate) Right click on desktop.   10. Well it works in multiplayer, but darn china is weak. 50 food, 50 wood, and 60 metal for the swordsman which is weaker than all other variants? Oh dear. Did you forget to take something OUT of that cost? Basically spam melee infantry to beat china. they cant resist, what with such an expensive unit to counter them.

  13. Hey gents, so I’ve been playing around with atlas, but not getting very far. So Im a stickler for 99% Accuracy in practically everything I do, so in discovering the height-map import feature (1% for human error margin) I've decided to start the mapping things game. I used to make maps for AoM So most everything is familiar to me, but height-maps are a mystery. (in non important ways) Firstly, some questions What are the Pixel X Pixel resolutions for the tiny ; small ; medium ; normal ; large ; very large ; giant map sizes? I dont want to deviate TOO much from the in-house sizes, i just want to use heightmaps for 99% accurate syncronised map techniques I.E making 4 hills exact same height, size, and in a perfect symmetrical locations from each other Is there a good heightmap program i can use (in linux! Wine hates me at the moment) Gimp can only do me so good. Speaking of gimp..... I've noticed maps export .XML Files, which the latest gimp has a boner for, can these be opened in GIMP itself? Nope, and it's XFC, not XML. *facedesk* also. assuming there is no usable heightmap program for my personal preferences, is there a pallet of colors i can choose to match specific heights? Currently all i know is black is bottom, white is top, perfect gray is in the middle. oh and, this is just for base, i want a near perfect pallet to detail-ize in atlas itself.
  14. If the 0ad project is 5 years old.. how about quinquennis (five years old) Or if we can get campaigns working (unlikely) quotare (to divide into chapters) might be nice. If we get a morale system in place for the next build, maybe quatefaci/quatefeci (to shake or weaken) would be relevent.   15. Q seems to be a difficult one. I've found this website with a bunch of Egyptian words. has some Words which could be translated into latin text with a Q instead of a k or cu etc. anyway Qa'a : Last pharaoh of the first dynasty Or: High-roofed reception room in Egyptian houses Qadesh: Same word as kadesh, just translated differently? OR: 1) Fortified town in Retenu, site of famous battle 2) Goddess Qenbet: Some kind of judical court? Qoseir/Quseir: Port on the Red Sea coast. Mind, this is the bottom of the barrel, i cant find anything for any other culture. :/ And these are translated from hieroglyphs, which aren't exactly clear.
  16. Pairing is actually a nice idea, but i think it's too painful atm. like pairing cav conscription with infantry conscription? Bad idea, it should be as follows: Infantry: Health - Recruitmentspeed Cavalry:Health - Recruitmentspeed Harvesters: Gatherspeed - Carry more Melee: Armor - Damage Ranged: Range - Damage so on so forth, then we could have things like policies, which would be game changers. (like they did in aoc hegemony) Fortress health +1000 infantry health -15 : infantry health +15 Fortress health -1000. etc. thoughts?
  17. Tch, he found out about the deer. Try to make the trees more spaced out. small rocks inside your forests (harvestable ones ) might be nice too.
  18. Considering the complaints arent to cavalry raiding, but to javcavs themselves, your thoughts are silly and irrelevent. So the problem cant be resolved by "stop it before it does happen", that's silly elitist thoughts. The problem is that It's an UNBEATABLE STRATEGY if it can be pulled off! and on certain maps, it's far stronger than on others. (mountain passes for ex, are easy as hell to block off) what on earth are you supposed to do if theres 30 javelin infantry infront of your base building a civ centre with 10+ javcav to guard it? that civ centre will go up in 5 seconds, with the tower up in 10. with current pathfinding, it'll take 30 seconds to organise your army to attack that position. that's a lost battle. with current balance (assuming pathfinding is perfekt) it's still a lost battle even if you had 60 men. towers should reinforce positions, not hold them all by themselves right up until siege is avaliable.
  19. incase it's a hardware specific problem: Whats your computer specs? graphics card should suffice, it might be forcing graphics options that arent exactly optimal.

He does raise a valid point. so far I'm not sure how much money WFG has raised (and spent) for 0ad. if ever I felt like finding out, I would have to dig into someones paypal account or some forum thread or rather. Not that I would, or care much of it, the game is free after-all, any donations made are voluntary and for the most part the only reward is the game. However some people get e-peens when they see numbers, and especially money numbers.
  22. They have their weaknesses ONLY IF: You can get siege units or elephants.You can kill them BEFORE they are built.You can swarm them with a-lot of melee infantry. A-LOT.That's all. The power-cost ratio is extremely big, the power you get out of a 200 (or 300) cost structure is far too big. I suggest they are either weakened, or at the very least made more expensive. I've had entire games ruined by people rushing to town phase, building a market and rushing over to my territory, building a civ centre and 3 towers. you cant beat it, until at least you hit fortress age, but by then you've lost all your expansion possibilities + economy expansion possibilties. 'tis gee gee.
  23. Since the alpha 17 wishlist thread has been derailed to hell, by TOWERS. (stand still ye buggers) Can you pleas continue your heartless discussion here instead of in an irrelevant thread? anyway, topic is: are towers too overpowered, how can they be fixed. I am of course referring to DEFENSE TOWERS, not OUTPOSTS or WALL TURRETS.
