  1. I reused the thorax part and the belt part (The belt will be very useful in other textures) The linothorax/chainmail .psd is has undergone a lot of progress. It will be a very useful art source for modders/devs alike.

  4. @wackyseriousFirst of, let me tell you, I'm a big fan of the work you're doing! Keep it up! About the elephants: if the tower is used, it does need to be noticeably scaled down. I think towers are actually ok, as long as they are really lightweight.

  5. I especially removed the roof so it doesn't look like the sentry tower. I can add the barriers though.

  7. Yeah, the Cart and Ptol elephant towers should be smaller than the Seleucid ones. Sundiata is right. Can go so far as to have the Cart/Ptol tower have 1 dude, while the Seleucid tower has 2 dudes.

  12. This was an 8 player Last Man Standing Capture The Relic game with only one relic and a 35min victory timer on the map Marmara. The game took many surprising turns, so it stands out in comparison to all these casual team games. Reasoning on the settings: Last Man Standing mode is interesting, because it requires players to chose their diplomacy wisely, help the right enemy in the right moment, stab him into the back in the right moment. (Trying to make the enemies defeat each other while taking as little damage as possible). It's also interesting because every player has a different strategy to come out on top and it's never predictable what's going to happen. We selected one relic because having more makes it very unlikely that one player captures all of them. We set the timer to 35 minutes, because otherwise it might be too easy to hide it behind some fortification. Summary from my POV (Spoiler alert): As usual on a last man standing game, everyone except JC allied everyone else. Noone wanted to capture the relic in the beginning, because it meant getting 7 enemies instantly. The first one to capture it was Achelao. But the relic was immediately moved outside of the city so that anyone would be able to take it. Teymyro was quickly defeated by his neighbor Achelao. Mercy and Pretension (JC) allied and started a war against Achelao that lasted until either of the belligerents were defeated. Since I was the neighbor of Achelao and since Achelao was nearly defeated, I had to support him, otherwise I'd be next in a 2v1 situation. The next one to get the relic was soloooyo and he kept it in the middle of the map near the sea. fpre took care of both soloooyo and Pretension. After long enduring battles, Pretension was defeated and Mercy went into exile on a tiny island on the bottom left corner. I used that timeframe to defeat the remains of my former ally Achelao, before becoming a threat to me. I declared war on my right neighbor fpre as well, as waiting any more time would just become a disadvantage to me - even though my army suffered losses. Because mord declared war on fpre simultaneously, the fight against fpre was successful and he was driven into exile as well. mord was one of the few players who had not only trade for a long time, but also an incredible 466 income per trip. His CC was in the corner of the map, so he wasn't in the focus of any war. He declared war on fpre to capture the relic. The relic was hidden in the very corner of the map behind layers and layers of Iberian fortification. It was now up to break these endless fortifications of mord who stacked endless resources as well. Time was running against me, but I succeeded. Meanwhile, the two players in exile (fpre and Mercy) had rebuilt and captured territory near me. fpre declared war on me 5 minutes before the timer ran out - just when I was about to be able to capture the relic! Mercy didn't care about the winner of the game, just wanted revenge and kept fighting me. I had no more units left, but two enemies. I resigned as I had hoped that Mercy would turn on fpre to capture the relic. But fpre resigned as well and againts all odds - Mercy was the declared the winner! What a journey! 2017-08-12_marmara_relic_lms.zip

  13. I like it. Is there any chance the Spartan range could get a redo? It's looking out of place compared to all of the others. Just my opinion of course.

  14. Nope All I can say is that they're cylindrical, and it's the original shape (it's not broken of or anything)... I don't think anyone really knows. In some alternative medicine circles it's referred to as "The Wands of Horus", but that seems like a load of BS at a first glance... Here's 13 pages of academic ramblings specifically on the subject, but doesn't really say anything conclusive, only conjecture: Personally, I suspect they might be symbolic cylindrical seals, representing royal authority. Who knows, another one of those Nile Valley mysteries... @stanislas69, good video!

  18. Balance? Maybe, maybe not, not that much if the stat changes are applied evenly for all civs, etc. We already have 15 variations of stats in your example with the promotions, so this wouldn't be much different. Now that I think about it, the Light/Medium/Heavy would probably have to replace promotions, unless promotions dealt strictly with 1 set of stats [attack rate, vision range, speed, etc.] while LMH would deal with a different set of stats [armor, cost, attack strength, etc.]. No overlap.Could work. I think the Blacksmith would be reworked. at the Blacksmith you would unlock Medium and Heavy options via techs. Light is the base cost, while Medium options add perhaps 20% and a further 20% with the Heavy option. Heavy might even add some metal to the cost or replace the wood or food cost. So, it would depend on what your economy is doing for you. I could imagine a Champion option being unlocked for some types of soldiers. Say, for the Gauls, you could have a standard swordsman available at the Barracks [which they currently don't have], with unlockable Medium->Heavy->Champion options.

  20. The Statuary of Kush, and other artefacts of cut stone This post focuses on the rich legacy of statues of cut stone in the Kingdom of Kush. Kushites loved statues, and produced a large corpus of monolithic carvings of many of their favourite subjects, particularly of royalty, but also deities and animals like lions, rams and even frogs. Other interesting stone objects include the many inscribed stelae, offering tables and the carved boat stands and altars in the temples. The most common medium is sandstone, which was the primary type of stone richly available in their territories, but granite and a number of other types of stone were also used. These statuary and carvings were produced during every period of Kush, since at least the Egyptian period. Statues and other cut stone artefacts from Kush:

  28. Moving the part that does the layout of the resource objects into a function and calling that from the function where you replaced horizontallySpaceObjects with verticallySpaceObjects. Possibly placing that in some other file if you want to. Mostly so in your mod (or someone else in a mod) can just replace that new function without having to ship a modified copy of session.js. You added full copies of session.js and functions_utility.js to your mod, with small modifications. This is going to be hard to maintain. If the only thing you actually ship in your mod are two script files, one with the verticallySpaceObjects function, and one with the modified placement/layout function (which needs that part to be split from the function it is currently in), then the amount of work you will have to do when you upgrade to the next release will be reduced by a lot.

  30. this makes me think that perhaps fundations have different size than built walls, thus you are not able to rebuild the tower because the walls obstruction is too big. ( i don't have a solution though )

  31. The Kingdom of Kush: The final great reference dump for Kushite Reliefs This post is essentially a photographic addendum to Voyage à Meroë and The Lepsius Collection. As with the other two, this collection is quite extensive, and the three sources combined form a great basis for comparative studies of Kushite reliefs. Some of the conclusions we can draw from these reliefs relate to the enduring and evolving nature of Pharaonic culture and religion, well in to the Christian period. In every sense, these people considered themselves the true heirs of the New Kingdom. There is an almost dogmatic adherence to "Egyptian" styles, but for those paying close attention, there are many peculiarities typical of Kushite art. Some of the more interesting details in a number of these reliefs regard the ethnicity of the subjects, which is more clear in these photographs, than they are from the early 19th century sketches by European explorers. Kushites looked just like modern Nubians (Nilo-Saharans) in lower Nubia, and like Nuba and South Sudanese (also Nilo-Saharan) in Upper Nubia. Both ancestral groups mixed extensively with each other, and to a certain degree with Afro-Asiatic speakers (Ancient Egyptians and nomadic peoples like the Beja or Afar). Another interesting point is the large variation in quality of the reliefs. Some are very crude, while others represent some of the finest reliefs ever produced in the Nile Valley, not only rivalling their Egyptian predecessors, but surpassing them. High quality reliefs were produced throughout the Napatan and Meroitic periods, but most have been thoroughly destroyed since. We only poses a fraction of what would have once been a massive corpus. The few weapons and armours depicted confirm what we already established earlier: Bow and Arrows, Spears, Pikes, Swords, Axes, Mace-Axes, Oval Shields, Skullcaps, Cotton Corselets and Bronze Scale Armour Corselet.
