  1. I might do that soon just so that I get something on the channel 0 A.D. related. The sooner I start attracting people who are interested in 0 A.D. to the channel, the sooner I'll have people around that would want to participate in 0 A.D. related things. It's a shame that I'm having technical issues connecting to the Hitbox servers at the moment, because I bet streaming live matches with fans would be a big hit. My viewers always have a ton of fun when they get to play games with me on the live stream.

  2. The Identity component has a list of some common ones: http://trac.wildfiregames.com/browser/ps/trunk/binaries/data/mods/public/simulation/components/Identity.js#L67 But it's by no means complete. Also note that mods can easily add their own classes, and classes are added for many reasons.

  3. Malus = Latin? https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/malus in English sounds good, hehehe but the etymology say "Bad"

  4. You guy use what you want. I don't even use any of these term in my mod (I just think Penalty sound way better than malus). Tooltips say like this: I think this the information player need (not a bunch of numbers).

  5. This reference reminds me this topic, and the theory about Greek interaction with Gauls culture.

  6. I have my doubts, particularly with the studded leather. aside from that i think that first reference image is the most reputable of the three

  7. Yes, the tech parsing to display it in the structure tree is quite different from what happens in-game. The game doesn't care about when it will become available, it just needs to test if the requirements are already matched. That said, it's very strange your tech doesn't work. Perhaps the siege tech linked only works because it's researched from a phase III building, so automatically goes in that phase (and the calculation is omitted).

  8. I used these images as reference for the Celtic thorax. I'm not really sure if these armors are historically accurate (especially the 2nd and 3rd images) Everyone, please do point out, or voice your opinion if you have doubts on the historicity of my references.

  9. Well, I got a bit done here though focussing more on usability and speed than perfection ... and found out that water erosion works, well, without water x) I call it "Splash erosion" - for it's like letting go a water baloon above each vertex - but before the next step all water is drained/evarporated ... so there's no need for a water plane whatsoever ^^ From left to right: 1) Base terrain (nice but unplayable) 2) Decay eroded (smooth but boring) 3) Water eroded (slow) 3) Splash eroded (Fast but conserving most of the structure) Got that idea when playing arround with erosion_demo_simple_water.js (feel free to do so, see setup line 26 ff) which kept working when basically all parameters where 1 erosion_demo_maps.zip

  10. I'm going to assume you're Bulgarian based on your e-mail address, and that you have personal stake in this. We aren't denying that we aren't adding them because of the amount of work that needs to be done. It's a ton of work, we haven't even finished up the Seleucids yet, and we need to also review what we already have. Seeing as you're so attached to this, I can see you're not going to take our word for it and just keep pushing the topic with your hands over your ears, as if that will somehow magically get models and balances made. I would love it if you could prove me wrong in this aspect. We're not denying the importance of Thrace when we deny it from the civilization roster.

  11. IMO this concept is not ready to be voted on (or even beeing discussed as such) since there are several questions that come to my mind immediately that aren't mentioned at all: - Would garrisoned units not visible still add arrows (and/or damage/attack speed) to the structure itself? - Do the visible units help against capture? - Can the visible units be targeted? - Can the visible units be selected? - Can the visible units be replaced with non-visible garrisoned units? If so how (GUI wise)? All that questions and the chosen answer have a potentially very bad impact on gameplay, the need of micro-management, the clumsiness of the unit AI and the balance of such structures/ships. Note that this list is quite likely not at all complete.

  13. Very well handled. After looking at quite a few of his posts in the past I completely agree with the staff's decision, as even this is being lenient. Romulus if you are reading this then I would be grateful for the fact that the staff has allowed this to continue for as long as it has. They are even giving you one last chance despite your failure to take advantage of your many chances in the past to clean yourself up. if you seriously wish to improve your behavior and rejoin the community then I challenge you to read on and prove feneur wrong. Otherwise, please don't waste everyone's time any further if you don't seriously wish to improve. I recommend that you take a walk or whatever it is that helps you think, and then sit down and make a list of things that you need to improve in your posts at wildfiregames' forums. Politely pm a couple of the staff members to help you and politely ask them to explain anything you don't understand. Proofread every pm you write twice before you send it. Once right after you write it and once after taking a break and doing other things. You may want to save pm's and posts in a word document so you can look at them later to check for any bannable errors. You need to be as careful as you can to prevent yourself from slipping up. If you enter a state where you feel anger or rage then take a break and come back to the computer with a cool head. Overall, remember to use common sense and treat others like you would like to be treated. Gratuitous swearing, insults, or trolling will get you banned. If you must be rude and flame someone don't do it at this extremely early stage in your rehabilitation. Just don't say anything at all until you can post without being rude. Later on, at least be smart and creative about it if you must do it at all(Again, it is best to not do it at all!). Don't go calling others names or insulting their [insert adjective here]. In general, you'll never go wrong by being nice, polite and mature. There is a general etiquette that the community members follow that you can only learn through reading and posting but here are a few examples: Jokes at the expense of someone's gender, race, religious affiliation, or sexual orientation are not acceptable.DO NOT POST IN ALL CAPS EVER AGAIN. IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE SCREAMINGPost your topics in the appropriate forum. If you can't find a topic you created, politely pm a staff member about it and do NOT under ANY circumstances make a new topic to ask what happened to the original topic or to just re-post what just got moved/removed. Don't post NSFW content, this isn't the place for it.Don't spam.Don't go overboard with meme's, and don't post any meme that may be considered rude or insulting.Respect veterans of the community, they have been here long enough to acquire a certain level of respect from others. It is very important to carefully consider the context of the conversation and the user you are responding to. Make sure you are informed on a discussion before posting your thoughts as that topic you thought from the title was about berries might have evolved into a conversation about giraffes and elephants. Don't be a backseat moderator or post just for the sake of being rude or posting without contributing anything in general. Some people bring happiness wherever they go, others whenever they go. Which will you be?

  14. And in the 80s, there were games that ran fine on a few KBs memory and 8-bit CPUs with speed in the MHz Obviously requirements change, I assume you're referring to commercial games, and one reason they run fine is the developers don't care at all about crossplatform compatibility, so they can write sloppy fast code that is unintelligible and only works on, say, Windows and x86. And they don't care much about supporting old hardware. And they tend to be paid a lot for their work, which is full-time, and spend significant time and effort optimizing the game. But actually, multiple cores or processors isn't a magic bullet, similarly 64-bit vs 32-bit CPUs aren't a magic bullet, the programmers have to understand how to take advantage of them, and there are a lot of design issues that are raised. In fact, a lot of commercial software struggles with this. It's a huge unresolved prickly problem in software development. The problems would be significantly worse if we didn't understand how to properly use multithreading, and did it anyway, than if we didn't even attempt it (debugging thread-related issues is a nightmare, for instance, and they can be very subtle). Most of the time, for most code, there's no advantage, so you're adding unnecessary complexity, but when there is you have to understand the pitfalls.
