  2. I felt like trying to model this evening, so I went out and made a Hyena. I think the model itself is fairly accurate (enough for the game at least), I did some crap texturing job but I really suck at texturing. Will probably try to armature and possibly animate it later. Any comments? Edit: update below.

  3. Updated with flatter back, a bunch of other things, a mouth, and a "proper" texture. At least the UV-ing is good.

  7. Update: Thankfully, we are now we are paying for hosting directly from our SPI funds using an SPI credit card. The first installment of 157.98 EUR (appx. 171.33 USD) came out of my credit card on 18/01/2015. I am asking the rest of the Treasury Committee for permission to ask SPI for a reimbursement, plus wire transfer charges, which, according to my records, are 22 USD. Total: 193 USD. Thanks.

  10. Looks pretty good! Not sure about the rounded looks though. From photos it looks like it has a flatter back and whist still it looks up and while running reaches it nech forward Sorry about typos.

  11. Just picking up random work seldomly results in good quality code. Picking a task you want to do (either one in our tickets, or one you invent) makes it a lot easier to achieve a result. As such, I don't see it as a problem when you just start creating your mod. If you need changes to the engine, we can still guide you, and then incorporate the changes if they are good. We could also incorporate some of the things you add as a mod, if they're coded decently. You'll see that all art and most gameplay code is implemented as a mod (the public mod), so if you want to create your own game using the engine, you can just replace that mod with your own mod. And either distribute it as a complete game (engine + mod), or distribute it as a mod people have to install in their 0 A.D. installation (note that people can disable the public mod, so total conversion mods are possible). I do have to warn you for the legal aspects though. If your art gets mixed with existing game art (including the GUI art), you should also distribute your art under the CC-BY-SA license. If your code gets mixed with code from us, you should also release your code under GPLv2+. About the manual, that's mostly updated, some pieces may be missing, but there shouldn't be a lot of wrong parts. If you find something wrong, just drop by on #0ad-dev on Quakenet to discuss it, and it can be fixed.

  14. Can't say a blog post is the most reliable source though, especially since I wrote that post like two years ago. Here's a better reference: http://www.salimbeti.com/micenei/shields1.htm

  15. Dont not forgot to main repo.-------------------------/-/--/------------ Artist's rendition of a Mycenaean warrior in full armor, alongside a "Tower" type shield. Original illustration by Christos Giannopoulos. Source: http://clustercritter.hubpages.com/hub/Shields-of-the-Classical-Antiquity# Bronze Age Greek Shields Most people would imagine a classical Hoplite Corinthian helmet, muscle-shaped breastplate, a heavy round shield and a spear when they think about the ancient Greek. Those are the Greeks at the dawn of the Iron Age. The history of ancient Greece however can be traced to a much earlier period The Mycenaean civilization, where ironworking has yet to be discovered, and chariot warfare still reign supreme. The Mycenaean Greek used several different designs of shield the Fgure-of-Eight shield, the "Proto-Dipylon" shield and what modern archaeologists dubbed the Tower Shield. These shields were made of several layers of bull hide stitched to a wicker and wooden structure, sometime reinforced with leather rim and metal shield boss. Some shields might also be covered with thin bronze sheet. Most Mycenaean shields are body-length, a feature that offered a much-needed protection to their warriors, who often wore next to nothing in battle (Some Mycenaean warriors with higher social status does come with full set of armor though).

  18. Good question. I don't know, but I think the romans must have had weapon racks, I can't imagine every soldier buying masses of pila before going to battle. I searched on google, but no results yet. If anyone wants to do some further research...
