Despite the danger of revealing my preferred civilizations, my favorite tracks: Eastern Dreams: all time favorite, even my wife plays it in the car Sands of Time: so fun to listen to Forging a City State: i just want to grab a hammer and build something... The Road Ahead: same as above, the start of a magnificent city Harvest Festival: such a happy feeling In the Shadow of Olympus: takes me on an Aegean island The Hellespont: same as above Water's Edge: just the calm feeling of being near water From the new ones: Bandit Country: unleash the power of Africa!2 points

Merged https://gitea.wildfiregames.com/0ad/0ad/pulls/8329, which fixes a probable cause of what we see here, at least this bug should result in pretty much what is described in here. @elexis spent some considerable time trying to debug this.2 points

Under Options > Gameplay > Formation control, one can set orders to unit to not override current formation. With the current workings of formations, this can lead to a non-negligible efficiency gain for orders like gather, build, capture... This because units will waste far less time bumping into each others while in the same formation. I'm posting this because I have for a long time, I not understood it was a setting when witnessing players using it, thinking it was marginal usage of a custom command where the game allowed you to define formation. Recently, much more players starting using it, so I started to try it too. I'm used to using formation at my advantage in fights, so I don't hate the current formation buffs. However for economy, it feels a bit... Weird... To be able to make gains using formations, that should be more like a battle thing. I don't have a defined opinion or improvement ideas for this, but hoping opening a thread on it can gather interesting ones.1 point

(Insert Pepperidge Farm meme) I was already here to remember a different version of the tracks that were later remastered. And then when some of the now "old" songs were brand new. It's hard to believe there are this many of them. And I wonder how many times I might have listened to all of them. I remember playing them outside of the game too, but I was already doing so like 15 years ago. At this point I got quite desensitized to them and it's harder to focus on the music (which makes them even greater background music). Btw, @OmriLahav was here recently, so I guess he'll like to hear our appreciation here too. He really gave the game a major part of its soul. All seriousness aside, imagine if The Player Of Many Names downloads the songs and after a while he'll be like "Oh wow, that's a nice beat, is that something new?". And then he'll check the song name and it says "You_are_Victorious!.ogg".1 point

It is possible, you just have to different listings, like this: <Attack> <Ranged> <Weapon1> <Bla Bla Bla/> </Weapon1> <Weapon2> <Bla Bla Bla/> </Weapon2> </Ranged> </Attack> I've done it before, on accident.1 point

Those are looking really good, @lukamas! I especially liked this one, the head looks very realistic: Do you have any updates on when the hyenas will be added to Atlas? I'd love to see them in the game, their presence would really enhance the biodiversity and add a nice touch of realism.1 point

It's safer to go for the Scythians, and let them settle in the late phase. That is, a CC that doesn't move, in compensation, a stronger CC. Herding should be included as the main activity and hunting. https://ageofempires.fandom.com/wiki/Pasture_(Age_of_Empires_II) This, however, can be built outside the territory perhaps. I haven't played Delenda Est in a long time.1 point

I think moving barracks and civic centers around the map will be too much for regular players. Can still include them with other features (like the Ox Cart transforming into yurts, maybe allowing the player to build outside their territory, etc.).1 point

I've been using this option too for a while now, and honestly, the difference is quite noticeable, especially for tasks like gathering or building.1 point

As the Civilization 'Germans' have been implemented in the development version of the game and therefore will be included in Release 28—I'm curious how the poll would turn out for place two today. I guess the Scythians & Xiongnu (combo deal) will keep their lead, but would the option Syracusans (of Sicily) still hold the silver medal?1 point

Not that I know of, but it should be possible to write a python script that reads the height map and generates a texture. I wrote an importer for PMP in Godot that way.1 point

Civilisation choice is dependent on map, position and your strategy. If you are next to enemy, or map is small: Ptolemies, Macedonians, Spartans, Iberians If you are in pocket position: Persian, Mauryas, Kushite If you want to do cavalry spam: Persians, Gauls, Romans, Carthaginians If you want to rush someone or play aggressively: Britons, Han, Mauryas, Iberians, Ptolemies If map has low resources: Mauryas, Carthaginians1 point
