Hey guys, how is everyone? Today I'm happy to present you with the final result after some drastic improvements to the River Delta map. All terrains have been updated to the Sahara biome, map layouts updated to resemble a more natural looking marsh-like landscape, updated resource distribution and also added some final touches that I think will make it more fun to play I've scaled down the 4 player map size from giant to very large so it may be possible to create a 6 player map as well in the future. I'd love to take a look at the new performance improvements of the newest version and explore the possibility. I have uploaded the daytime 2 player and 4 player versions in the original post where I have attached the files. Do take a look and I'd love to hear what you think. Edit: Night time versions uploaded.5 points

I'd really like it if individual (non-shooting) wall joints (we call them towers currently) could be individually upgradeable to shooting towers.2 points

Great post. I could see the Sasanids going into either base game Part 2 or M_A.D.2 points

Moved the off topic to the current thread. The current game (Part 1) is -500 B.C. 1 A.D. So it would be for Part 2. We don't have enough artists to take that on at the moment though. Most of the artists are spread across all the mods and the game and are generally the same people.2 points

The Sasanian Empire officially Ērānšahr was an Iranian empire that was founded and ruled by the House of Sasan from 224 to 651. So 0 A.D. cover this period. I've posted this request with all of this civ's pictures and architecture and some info 2 years ago you can check it out here. Thanks for your attention pls help. Request for Sassanid Empire in Millennium A.D. Arsacids timeframe: 247 BC to 224 AD Sassanid timeframe: 224 Ad to 651 AD These two empires are the successors of Acheamanid Empire after the collapse of Ancient Persian Empire (Acheamanids) and the Alexander Macedonian Empire and Selucids.2 points

It seems that no one has mentioned these two Vulkan issues yet. With Vulkan in fullscreen, after pressing Alt + Tab, the screen remains stuck on the 0ad display. No issue with OpenGL, nor with Vulkan in windowed mode. This occurs on a VGA (D-sub) monitor, but there is no issue when using HDMI to a USB video capture card connected to an old laptop. It also occurs on a HDMI TV. (2025/5/8 update) With Vulkan and GPU skinning enabled, the screen jumps to the desktop and the program shuts down when loading the game. No crash report. Win 10, Vega igpu, driver: Adrenalin 24.9.1 (latest) By the way, is it a known issue that when multiple control groups control a large number of units (e.g., 632), moving the camera—even without selecting units—feels a bit choppy? @wowgetoffyourcellphone @alre https://code.wildfiregames.com/D3706 https://code.wildfiregames.com/rP25135 Confirmed--turrets could attack until a24/a25 (can't tell on the date). Unsurprisingly, it was a Nescio written change. Little real reason is given to explain/justify the change, which wratii kind of hints at in the commit thread. Basically, the notion that turrets were OP and needed to have their attack removed is a fiction.1 point

The Sasanian Empire officially known as Eranshahr was the last Iranian empire before the early Muslim conquests of the 7th–8th centuries AD. Sassanid Empire is the medieval representation of the Persian or Iranian society and civilization so it is hoped that Mod Makers and those who can make mods make this medieval civilization. The Sassanids, who succeeded the Parthians, were recognized as one of the leading world powers alongside its neighboring rival the Byzantine Empire, or Eastern Roman Empire, for a period of more than 400 years. Following the division of the Roman Empire in 395, the Byzantine Empire, with its capital at Constantinople, continued as Persia's principal western enemy, and main enemy in general. Hostilities between the two empires became more frequent The Sassanids, similar to the Roman Empire, were in a constant state of conflict with neighboring kingdoms and nomadic hordes. So many thanks to@Stan`1 point

Just as the last words I want you to know that Arsacids also known as Parthians founded their Empire in 247 BC. Well it is covered in this part, part 1 of this game. Wish you the best. Keep in touch ♡♡♡♡♡ Love ya1 point

I dare say that I am the biggest fan of this game and I have spent more hours on this game than anyone else and I am very enthusiastic and dedicated to making this game and its mods and the national duty that is on my shoulders and I am sure that if I learn how to make mods I can make several civilizations in a week or two. Recently I have been looking for a game that covers the timeline between 1500 and 1900 AD and I have not found anything except for our good friend Age of Empires III which is also of low quality and is not as good and perfect as 0 A.D. and is not satisfying, and you cannot make a good map in it and many other problems. The mods that are made for Persians(Safavids, Afsharids, Zandid, Qajarid) are also not accurate, and the last one of them is under progress for over 6 years. So I am in great need to make M A.D. quickly and then very soon make part 3, which is the period 1500-1900. I'm a history geek of my beloved country, Iran. So, I can come in handy regarding stuff like Persian Language, Persia's History, and some of its neighbours. [Persia=Iran=Eranshahr]1 point

There's no need. Firstly, as others have said wall turrets shooting arrows was problematic because you could cram so many close together. It was also a bit of a buff for iber and just made for an annoyance even after an iberian player had been fully destroyed. We have towers for arrow shooting, and walls for blocking movement. Let walls be walls and let towers be towers. Trying to blend gameplay mechanics like this is unnecessary and distracts from the actual gameplay purpose of these structures. I'm glad wall turret arrows were removed tbh.1 point

I’m saying people who don’t understand how the game is played shouldn’t be given any weight in gameplay discussions. It’s really not a controversial position. For example, about once a month, a new player makes an account and says “rams are OP—my 100 archers can’t kill them! Please nerf rams!!!” One way to react would be to say this is a really common complaint so rams must be OP. Another way to react would be to say these are new players that don’t yet understand that you need melee units to kill rams. This second reaction also knows that if you make rams super susceptible to archers then rams will quickly become useless.1 point

shooting wall joints were canceled because they didn't have any positioning restriction and this made it possible to cram a lot of firepower in a small space. this is what I remember.1 point

Also I can provide any developer interested more necessary info and background. The History of the Imperial State of Iran( شاهنشاهی ایران) since Cyrus the Great established the first official State of Iran.(before Acheamanids we had some dynasties such as Elamites and the Median Kingdoms that would date back to thousands of years BC, but our first État-Nation was founded by Cyrus the Great the Powerful, Peaceful, Liberal Shahanshah of Iran[Persia/Iranshah]) Acheamanids>Alexander the Evil Conquest>Selucids> Arsacids(Parthians)>Sassanids>Arab Conquest and Arabo-Islamic Caliphates(Rashidun/Umayyads/Abbasids)> Resisting Northern Parts of Iran or Eranshahr called Tabarestan(Deylaman/Gilan/Mazandaran/Gorgan)> Reviver National anti-islamic Movements against Muslims and Caliphates(Siahjamegan and its leader Bezadan Wandad Hurmuzd, Sunpadh, Ustadhsis, Ishaq al-Turk and Khatun of Bukhara from Bukhar Khudats, Sepidjamegan being led by Al-Muqanna the Veiled Prophet, Sorohjamegan or Khorramdinan being led by Babak Khorramdin, Daylamites, Asfar Shiruye) >Ziyarid>Saffarids>Buyids>Samanids> Irano-Turkic dynasties which had Iranian Language and Culture but were originally Turks(Qaznavids, Seljuks, Khwarazmshahids)>Mongol invasion of Persia and Mesopotamia led by Genghiz Khan>Ilkhanids(Iranophile peaceful iranic-cultured descendants of Genghiz Khan the Evil)>Timurid>Aq Qoyunlu>Qara Qoyunlu>Safavids>Afsharids>Zandids>Qajarids>Pahlavi the most important, liberal, glorious modern imperial state of iran which was unfortunately overthrown by Marxist-Islamic terrorists and rebels and Commies. Since 1979(the Collapse of Iranian Imperial State) our country and we are all broken, sad, murdered, poor, and misfortune. Our lives are ruined by Marxism, Communism, Socialism, and Islamism. Long Live the Shah Viva Iran! We have a 2,600-year-old empire that I hope will return with the remaining Shah of Iran, Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi, Shahanshah Reza Shah II.1 point

I've been using the Millennium A.D Mod and played as the Byzantine Civ because of its cavalry similarities to Sassanid Knights with Kushites and Umayyads architecture in scenarios. I've created lots of real historical scenarios and the real map of Iran and the whole middle east. Byzantine vs Sassanid vs Rashidun Caliphate. Also I've used Rus civ as Arsacids. But I never tried to make a mod myself. It's too difficult and I'm not sure if I can do it cuz I have no experience and knowledge in that. But thanks for your time and support and your suggestion.1 point

On another note, I've actually made some great progress on the map recently: (haven't painted the ocean floor yet) I will upload some screenshots and the files when I'm done; but I want to remake some sections and polish everything up a bit more first. As you might remember, I am using the 'desert_persia' biome mixed with the 'aegean_anatolian' biome. Southeastern Spain is a lot more arid than regions like Italy, Greece, or Turkey and not far away at all from a typical "desert". Honestly, I was really afraid it could turn out looking horrible, but they ended up fitting together quite well in my opinion. The only thing I struggled with was fading between bushy and earthy spots. There are a lot of textures available for empty and dry grounds. And some others full of bushes ( / vegetation in general) - namely 'Desert plants b persia' and 'Desert plants a'. What's missing is something in between to fill this gap. Patches of bushes don't just abpruptly "end" at a particular point; instead, with increasing distance, bushes are becoming smaller and sparser. And it's this transition that I find very hard to replicate with available textures. If someone could create a such a texture that would be amazing. Essentially a sparser variant of 'Desert plants b persia' (and if of 'Desert plants a' too that would be even better!) @wowgetoffyourcellphone maybe?1 point

Look at the other thread that discusses which techs are most used. Spies is literally never researched (and for good reason). The game shouldn't be cluttered with junk.1 point

Funny chat screenshot: Geriatrix flexes his 20000 commits to open source project This is intended to be entertainment, not malpractice reporting as I see no strong violation of ToS here. Funny claims by Geriatrix or whatever his new account is: 1. I somehow made a 2200 and a top 10 player quit. But he cannot name any of these 2. I am somehow destroying 0ad, in a irreversible way, by contributing. 3. He tried to frame @MarcusAureliu#s with some random bot claims but couldn't even come up with a complete theory XD 4. He still shares links to old cheat videos1 point

Is this single player, multiplayer? In TGs? How are you controlling for different variables?1 point

My idea recently was to turn it into a repeatedly researchable tech that temporarily reveals the location/vision of one/all of your enemy heroes. So while it might not see use frequently, it still may be relevant in something like regicide.1 point

Spies needs a total rework. If it's most useful case is to find a lone fishing boat in the corner of the map after the game is all but officially over then it is a feature that shouldn't exist.1 point

Oh, I totally forgot about this last post I made here. Regarding icons, I will try to incorporate existing ones (like the resource types), but I don't think there'd be much value in creating new, specific ones, if players don't see them anywhere outside of the tutorial later too. Regarding the instructions, I have spent a good amount of time thinking about it and here's my plan: I want to split up all instructions currently stuffed into the tutorial panel into four different categories (each displayed on their own panel - with only one or maybe two visible at once): - Simple Tasks. Basic instructions like "Left-click on your Civic Center", "Train _____ units", "Order them to build a storehouse". Only the active one needs to be displayed at once. - Basic Information and Tips. Everything that doesn't directly help players progress through the game, but just teaches them how to do something. For example, how to select units, how to build structures, or how to read the minimap. This could still be done in an interactive way, but these sections need to be skippable. - Game Objectives. Larger tasks like "Explore the map", "Repel the attack", or "Capture the Civic Center" that take more time to complete. I plan to add this functionality to scenarios and trigger scripts in general, and not just the tutorial. Objectives can be given, completed or stopped at any point during the game, all of which is announced by fading in some sort of "banner" in the top center. They don't need to be required for ultimately winning the game and could instead function more like "side quests" too by providing other rewards (like unlocking certain units, receiving some resources - stuff that can be done in trigger scripts already) But I haven't really thought about how to connect them to the current "victory conditions" (conquest, wonder, etc. - which are called "objectives" in the game right now) yet. - Plot Points. There is no interface in place right now to tell a story to the player. At all. This would in first instance become relevant at the start of a game, of course. But I imagine it would also be cool to have the possibility of advancing the plot during a game as well, maybe even depending on player decisions... (this interface too could be made available to all scenario scripts, and not just the tutorial) At the moment, I'm trying to come up with good UI designs for each of these. Ideas, design concepts, or UI mockups are much welcomed, as always.1 point

Working on some new tip images... My computer is quite old, so I usually keep my graphics settings at medium to low. But every time I crank them up to take some screenshots, I'm just blown away by how good everything looks - even up close. It's truly incredible. Huge respect to the people behind it.1 point
