In my opinion the top 10 (forgive me if I forgot to include you; I haven't played with many of the players on the leaderboard. This is just based on the few people I've met and I could be biased) 1. Hussar (Simply unbeatable, I haven't seen him lose a single 1v1 and can hold 1v2 in team games against strong players) 2. Berhudar (Very skilled player who is also very versatile, although not as magical as Hussar) 3. Decger (Did you know that God plays 0A.D? His username is Decger) 4. SaidRdz (devastating attacks with archers and infantry, very fast boom and strong base defence as well) 5. Vinme (legendary champion cavalry spam, but perhaps a bit monotonous) 6. NoobDude (the exact opposite of his name) 7. weirdJokes (the pioneer of new strategies, possibly the most creative player in the lobby. His champions can win outnumbered fights, although it would be better if he fights with more units) 8. Ginnungagap (also creative like weirdJokes, but he is hindered by too much voice chat) 9. Havran (Half of the time he is unbeatable like Hussar, simply strong) 10. Stockfish (surprises you with rushes in 1v1 and spams units in team games, but it would be better if he doesn't make 120 women...) Honourable mention Defc0n (talented Celtic player, but could improve his boom and early defence instead of going aggressive all the time) HerkEule ( certainly a very reliable teammate with great booms and attacks) Mentula ( another very fast boomer and strong attacker, but I haven't played with him in a while and he could have improved) MarcAurel (an effective killing machine, even with low pop and housed) DoctorOrgans (his attacks with Spartans are lethal but he can work on communicating nicely with his teammates instead of advertising the Third Reich) Wendy (I miss you! ) i_am_groot (he is great like his name suggests) Yulduz ( Spartans player quite similar to DoctorOrgans but the signature without early rushes) Cousin (another champion cavalry specialist) Borg- (he had been top tier in the past but the tides have turned) Ramirez (there are too many Ramirez brothers but one of them is super strong ) mr.michael (yet another champion cavalry specialist but also rushes in early game)2 points

Alpha26 feedback and suggested changes Included .text file below - Hans Chinese: * Change buildings visualsa little bit because they look the same most players get confused specially between houses, storehouses and farmsteads. * Change Team bonus to +15% barter efficiency and trading. * Phase 1 jav/spear cav instead of sword cav . * Phase 2 archer cav + sword cavs unlocking * Sencond hero LUI BANG 's bonus does not apply to raged cav only to melee ones. * Due to food gathering efficeincy feature Hans has almost +10% food income compared to other civilisations. I noticed it during playing Hans clearly have food advantage over all other civs. Food income gets even better with minister bonus and with Ptolemies team bonus added to that. Ps : ministers bonus, team bonus and gauls special +10% food gathering tech are not included in test and calculation. |civ | * | cost | food/min | +20% | +20% | +20% | 30 women | hans |10 fields | 600 wood | 850 | 1000 | 1200 | 1450 | | gauls |6 fields | 600 wood | 750 | 900 | 1080 | 1300 | diff | * | * | * | 100 | 100 | 120 | 150 = 5 pers ice houses | | | | | | | | +1500 food in 10mins | |civ | * | cost | food/min | +20% | +20% | +20% | 50 women | hans |17 fields | 1020wood | 1400 | 1680 | 2020 | 2450 | | gauls |10 fields | 1000wood | 1250 | 1500 | 1800 | 2150 | diff | * | * | * | 150 | 180 or 900 | 220 or 700 | 300 or +3000 | | | | | | min 4->9 | min 9->12 | in next 10mins | * Total food income difference in first 15 minutes= 150+ 900 +700+ 300*( 2minutes in phase 3) = 2350 food. Now you might ignore it but that much food advantage means . Better cavalry production --> even easier rush . Less women on food --> more women on wood --> better units production. . Better boom --> faster phase 2 and phase 3. Ps : 1 Hans minister = 0.5 trickle of that ressource with 50 units in range in other terms 50 food/wood gatherers + minister --> 30 ress/min = 300/ 10 mins. I used 50 workers in test because 50 is the most commun number per ressouces as in 50 farmers, 50 wood-cutters and 2 mines 24 each. - Romans : * Phase 1 spears infts instead of swords. unlike iberians they dont have walls to save from cav rush . spear cav can kill jav cav but in bigger numbers and with a bit of micro spear cav will lose easy . - Ptolemies : * Phase 1 jav-infts instead of slings (not mercenaries jav-infts like in a23) . * Phase 2 mercenaries slings and archers unlock from barracks. * Hero PTOLEMY IV gives +25% Hp to pikemen instead of +40% Hp. 140 Hp ontop of 12 armor means that unit has 100 hp + 15 armor (16 armor incase of allied spartans bonus). - Carthaginians : * because Carthaginians is an archers based civ it must have the +10 range tech for archers like the other archer civs ( mauryans ,persians and kushites). - Britons : * Add +10% food gathering tech from farmstead (similar to gauls) . * Change team bonus to stables and barracks -15% cost and building time. Gauls is better thans Britons in every way ( better team bonus , better heros , fanatics ,stronger cavs and farming tech). - Seleucides: * Women close to farmstead get +10% food gathering speed. - Persians : * KURUSH the cavalry type hero gives +15% damage to all cavalry units range 50 meters, +10% to all infantry units range 30 meters. * Change team bonus : Persians specialty => cavalry get +10% Hp or -10% traning time . - Changes apply to all civilisations : * Acceleration should be nerfed , . units have become much slower at formation or escaping . . A rush can easily fail . When big numbers units sometimes freeze for 1 or 2 seconds just because of a change of direction ( left to right ) due to rotation + acceleration . * New Techonlogies : Add a tech that gives archer cav ability to shoot while walking but alos gives slower mobility less DPM for example 2s , less range 45m and worse accuracy . This will make archer cav less affective against infantry but better against other cav which they are already too weak against. * Add siege for phase 2 : Smaller seiege with less Hp , less DPM and armor ,reasonably less expensive than the phase 3 ones having good sieg at phse 2 really helps some civs and make the game better imo . for example instead of waiting for phase 3 one will be able to get rid of a ennemy tower in own or border territory or even attack much earlier . * Heros buildings: Civilisations with heros whom historically kings born in ruling family or special leaders who later became kings should be trained from civic-centers all the rest of civilisations train from unique buildings ( example: palace ) . From civic centers : kushites , ptolemies , seleucides, persians , macedonians. . From unique buildings : gauls , britons , romans, hans ,mauryans, atheninians ,spartans ,carthaginians ,iberians. Instead of spending long building time and much ressources on expensive fortress which half if times no need for it but just to have a hero whom potentially will die in battle and can only be trained once. Thats why we see Roman or carthage heros for example so rarely despite their greatness -Rated 2v2 : Add possible rated 2v2 that will be good plus to next Alpha . ofc i understand it could be tricky calculations to rate 4 players at once with very different ratings or the case when a smurf is involved. It's unfortunate that the sources don't go into details such as how those troops were used and how the longer spear was wielded.1 point

Pretty sure wow didn't mean to just touch the mod.io browser and leave the more problematic mod-selector as is. As for the problem raised of figuring out what exists such a browser will be a sub-optimal choice anyway, it won't ever have more info than https://www.moddb.com/games/0-ad/mods and only covers a minor part of the mods available.1 point

well if it should stay the same, at least the range overlays should be accurate to 73 meters and not 60 meters.1 point

Diodorus Siculus, 15.44.3 : It will not be out of place to set forth what I have learned about the remarkable character of Iphicrates. For he is reported to have possessed shrewdness in command and to have enjoyed an exceptional natural genius for every kind of useful invention. Hence we are told, after he had acquired his long experience of military operations in the Persian War, he devised many improvements in the tools of war, devoting himself especially to the matter of arms. For instance, the Greeks were using shields which were large and consequently difficult to handle; these he discarded and made small oval ones (peltas summetrous) of moderate size, thus successfully achieving both objects, to furnish the body with adequate cover and to enable the user of the small shield, on account of its lightness, to be completely free in his movements. After a trial of the new shield its easy manipulation secured its adoption, and the infantry who had formerly been called "hoplites" because of their heavy shield, then had their name changed to "peltasts" from the light pelta they carried. As regards spear and sword, he made changes in the contrary direction: namely, he increased the length of the spears by half, and made the swords almost twice as long. The actual use of these arms confirmed the initial test and from the success of the experiment won great fame for the inventive genius of the general. He made soldiers' boots that were easy to untie and light and they continue to this day to be called "iphicratids" after him. He also introduced many other useful improvements into warfare, but it would be tedious to write about them. So the Persian expedition against Egypt, for all its huge preparations, disappointed expectations and proved a failure in the end. Cornelius Nepos, Life of Iphicrates: Iphicrates of Athens has become renowned, not so much for the greatness of his exploits, as for his knowledge of military tactics; for he was such a leader, that he was not only comparable to the first commanders of his own time, but no one even of the older generals could be set above him. He was much engaged in the field; he often had. the command of armies; he never miscarried in an undertaking by his own fault; he was always eminent for invention, and such was his excellence in it, that he not only introduced much that was new into the military art, but made many improvements in what existed before. He altered the arms of the infantry; for whereas, before he became a commander, they used very large shields, short spears, and small swords, he, on the contrary, introduced the pelta instead of the parma (from which the infantry were afterwards called peltastae), that they might be more active in movements and encounters; he doubled the length of the spear, and made the swords also longer. He likewise changed the character of their cuirasses, and gave them linen ones instead of those of metal; a change by which he rendered the soldiers more active; for, diminishing the weight, he provided what would equally protect the body, and be light.1 point

Yeah, it seems like it would be more simple to include the 13m as part of the towers 60m range, then any additional range is actually due to elevation.1 point
-
I guess I didn't realize every tower is +13 by default. I guess the issue then is that the range overlay doesn't take this additional range into account.1 point

Also covers the user provided mod case, where one doesn't want to go through mod.io for other concern yet still wants to have a preview image.1 point

it would be excellent to be able to make a url link.here... nobody is playing with the mod/patch. The problem is psychological, a mod is not the same as a patch. if we call it an optional patch it would be easier for people to accept the change in multiplayer. this would need less opposition. ignore lootboxes thing and concentrate on how tempting it looks to press that golden button.1 point
