  2. In my opinion, this a little too dumbed down, I appreciate more nuanced prices that we currently have, and I think 3 resources in a technology can be ok, depending. If all siege units were wood metal, it would be a little too easy to quickly switch from using rams to catapults.

  3. Thanks for the update, it seems that everything so far are working great without any errors! If I notice any other error I will inform you. mainlog.html

  4. What were u playing? a26? the development version? Using a mod? I had my mainlog balloon some when testing the vulcan backend on mac without the spirv mod. This was accompanied by a small army of pyrogenesis processes that ate up a ton of RAM. My mainlog only got up to like 10mb but if you have a high end computer I could see it going far past that.

  5. This question has already been asked and answered here: This page will help you find the correct datapath of the configuration files for your operating system: https://trac.wildfiregames.com/wiki/GameDataPaths Cheers

  6. Did you profile it? https://trac.wildfiregames.com/wiki/EngineProfiling#Profiler2 I experienced the same thing: https://code.wildfiregames.com/D4786 No. It is costly to copy JS-objects (the simulation components) to an other thread. JS cant reference data on an other thread. There has to be some kind of OOS check. It isn't done every turn. It's done that way: only commands and sometimes a hash of the simulation-state is shared.

  7. I see what you mean, but it would also be weird to have prices too divided. (metal for techs, stone for buildings, food/wood for units would be the other extreme). The main thing with these upgrades is that they shouldn't be too easy or hard to get compared to forge techs, and they should be accessible alongside forge techs. If they cost too much wood/metal, then they become mutually exclusive with forge techs. Thats why a portion of it is food. I think if one of the three should be dropped, it should be wood, what do you think? Something like this: tier 1: 75 food, 125 metal tier 2: 150 food, 250 metal

  8. It's the mod version (to keep tracking changes) not the SPIR-V version. Currently we're targeting SPIR-V 1.3.

  9. This couldn’t happen in a26 because of the Han farming issue, which made the mod the de facto version of a26 for anyone who cared about balance at all.

  10. @wowgetoffyourcellphone is the leader of the mod. I have nothing to do with this decision, but if I can bring some info to help discuss this topic: "The overall size of the Roman forces in Roman Britain grew from about 40,000 in the mid 1st century AD to a maximum of about 55,000 in the mid 2nd century.[1] The proportion of auxiliaries in Britain grew from about 50% before 69 AD to over 70% in c. 150 AD. By the mid-2nd century, there were about 70 auxiliary regiments in Britain, for a total of over 40,000 men. These outnumbered the 16,500 legionaries in Britain (three Roman legions) by 2.5 to 1.[2] This was the greatest concentration of auxilia in any single province of the Roman Empire. It implies major continuing security problems; this is supported by the (thin) historical evidence. After Agricola, the following emperors conducted major military operations in Britain: Hadrian, Antoninus Pius, Constantius I, and Septimius Severus." / "By the 2nd century, the Auxilia contained the same number of infantry as the legions and, in addition, provided almost all of the Roman army's cavalry (especially light cavalry and archers) and more specialised troops. The auxilia thus represented three-fifths of Rome's regular land forces at that time. Like their legionary counterparts, auxiliary recruits were mostly volunteers, not conscripts." / "Recruitment was thus heavy throughout the Augustan period, with a steady increase in the number of units formed. By AD 23, the Roman historian Tacitus records that there were roughly the same numbers of auxiliaries in service as there were legionaries.[24] Since at this time there were 25 legions of c. 5,000 men each, the Auxilia thus amounted to c. 125,000 men, implying c. 250 auxiliary regiments.[25]" This is simply from different articles on wikipedia.

  11. I would go for Agni, because that's how we always did it. And I like the name Hephaestus. Gofannon is cool too. So maybe "Agni Gofannon Hephaestus"?

  13. 0AD Hephaestus would sound cool. Perhaps we want to follow the old naming system and go for AArdvark Or AAchen, where your Linux mirror is located; Aachener mirror is often the default for many Linux distributions if you downloaded your ISO from an European hosting server, which means you probably curled your 0ad program files from Aachen - so it definitely deserves some credit. In addition, located on the border between Germany and Belgium, it is a nice city to visit.

  14. I prefer the name AGNI , If Indian media like this then 0AD get free advertisement, one of India's powerful ballistic missile is named as Agni, I don't know how many people will care about 0AD if we give it some names of Gods in dead religions, If it is Agni Indians will definitely care about 0AD, Agni is an active god in a Living Religion (Hinduism). making it too obvious by naming it as Vulcan is not very stylish but I like the way Vulcan sounds than Agni. 0AD Vulcan sounds a bit dramatic than 0AD Agni for sure.

  15. Oh I see, this would stratify the rows. As it is already committed, I'd say we can bookmark that option for later in case the issue comes up again.

  17. Per Latest supported Visual C++ Redistributable downloads | Microsoft Learn at least, platform toolset v143 (from VS2022) is still compatible with Windows Vista and newer, and per Which SDK do I need to ensure Windows 7 compatibility in Visual Studio C++ 2017 - Stack Overflow, the Windows 10 SDK can still build apps for Windows 7 given the right compiler flags - so it at least sounds like an appropriately motivated individual could upgrade the code / build system without losing compatibility (and unblock use of newer language features).
