  1. Just modify the templates. <BuildRestrictions> <Territory>own neutral ally</Territory> </BuildRestrictions> Then add these to the template to stop the structures from losing loyalty and from casting a territory effect: <TerritoryDecay disable=""/> <TerritoryInfluence disable=""/> If you want to do some moddding, I suggest you download svn version of game. It is developer version and all files are moddable. From there we can help you make a mod folder where you can put your new files into without worrying about mess up core game files.

  3. ArferBrick, it's better to create a simple mod than to modify the public.zip. A mod can overwrite any file in the public.zip by its own version, you only need to place a file with the same name and path in your mod. The advantage of making a mod is that it's clearly split from our code, and you can enable and disable it through the game. The only thing you need to make a mod is a mod-description file (like public.json, but with altered parameters, take a look at some active mods to see the json file), and the files you want to overwrite. Doing it like you do now is also possible, but will cause more problems when upgrading (an upgrade will replace the public.zip), and it will also not allow you to play multiplayer (you'll have a different version of the game, and will immediately get an out-of-sync error).

  4. Thanks a million for the info all Here's what I did (in order to help other newbies save some time) - I extracted the contents of /usr/share/games/0ad/mods/public/public.zip, then renamed the zip file to disable it. Then I made a backup copy of /usr/share/games/0ad/mods/public/simulation/templates/template_structure_defense_wall.xml & template_structure_defense_wall_tower.xml & changed the following in each file: Original - <BuildRestrictions> <PlacementType>land-shore</PlacementType> <Category>Wall</Category> </BuildRestrictions> To - <BuildRestrictions> <Territory>own neutral ally enemy</Territory> <PlacementType>land-shore</PlacementType> <Category>Wall</Category> </BuildRestrictions> ..and added - <TerritoryDecay disable=""/> <TerritoryInfluence disable=""/> ..at the end of each file, just before - </Entity> and saved the files. It works, b̶u̶t̶ ̶I̶ ̶s̶t̶i̶l̶l̶ ̶c̶a̶n̶'̶t̶ ̶b̶u̶i̶l̶d̶ ̶i̶n̶ ̶e̶n̶e̶m̶y̶ ̶t̶e̶r̶r̶i̶t̶o̶r̶y̶ and rabbits and trees still get in the way -but that's a story for another day when I've got some time to waste. All in all very happy with the result and many thanks for the help you all gave me. Eventually I'll try to learn how to get the "git" version and play around with that, but for now my weekend is almost over and I just want to sit back and have fun with 0AD :D. Cheers EDIT: Oh yes, and I just found out that I can add "enemy" to the list of territory restrictions, a̶n̶d̶ ̶t̶h̶a̶t̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶ ̶c̶a̶n̶ ̶m̶o̶d̶i̶f̶y̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶f̶i̶l̶e̶s̶ ̶o̶n̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶f̶l̶y̶ ̶-̶ ̶n̶o̶ ̶n̶e̶e̶d̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶q̶u̶i̶t̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶g̶a̶m̶e̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶r̶e̶s̶t̶a̶r̶t̶ ̶a̶f̶t̶e̶r̶ ̶e̶a̶c̶h̶ ̶e̶d̶i̶t̶. This game just gets better and better :D.

  5. Hello guys, I'm happy to submit to you my last map : Cyprus Island! Here is Cyprus: And here is my new map: This map is a 2-player skirmish ATM. It will probably need some refinements, I'll improve it gradually. I'll change the "border river" crossing the island later too in future versions. Any feedback is welcome! Here is the file: Update: Now in beta1.2, check most recent posts for the file And finally, some more teasers about the map: Olympus mount Limasol beach Mesaoria: Etc. etc. I hope you'll enjoy the map. Looking forward your feedback, happy gaming. CyprusSkirmishBeta.zip

  7. There should be a field where you can "add a reason for edit" if that's what you mean. Generally it's better to create a new post though, that way people who follow the topic, or are checking the "All Updates", will see that something new has happened

  8. The AI will try to reach it, but since it's impassable terrain you also could actors instead (since the AI doesn't try to gather those)

  9. I made a quick test and it seems you won't win at start, but you also won't win after capturing/destroying all gaia buildings/units. I believe that's because a 'conquest critical' entities list isn't maintained for gaia. I think it should be easy to solve with a trigger, but I expect it to be more interesting and challenging to allow a bot control some of the colonies.

  11. how looks the Ice Maiden? The Ice Maiden died at the age of 25 from breast cancer, though initial research found evidence she suffered a fall from a horse. She was buried with six horses, all saddled and bridled, to signify her high status. She was covered in tattoos, many of which appear to be images of horses wearing the stag headdress. Her head was shaved and she was found wearing a wig made from horse hair.

  12. Hi From the crash report it looks like it's running out of memory trying to render the scene and you don't have to post the whole log just the interesting HTML file that's a filtered one with only the errors, your system_info.txt file says you have an integrated GPU how much memory do have assigned to it in your BIOS that might be where to start to remedy this. Enjoy the Choice

  14. About Amazons. Herodotus, with his usual flare, tells a remarkable story of how the Amazons came to be with the Scythians which makes a great deal more sense when one understands that the nomadic Scythians were later arrivals and the Amazons were part of an earlier civilization still existing to the south of the Black Sea but in constant threat from the Greeks as the accounts of many battles suggest. He recounts that after the Battle of Thermodon, several galleys carrying Amazon prisoners were retaken by the captives and the women came ashore in the land of Scythia on the north shore of the Black Sea They engaged some of the Scythians in combat who upon discovering that the dead were actually women decided not to try to kill the newcomers but woo them instead. They eventually approached them unarmed and the two groups decided to merge but not without negotiations. The Amazons refused to live as Scythian women, they would not give up their place in society so their new Scythian husbands agreed and asked for their inheritance to be given them and they left for lands to the northeast. This story seems to tell of a merging of the nomadic Scythians with the earlier matriarchal society and their migration away from the patriarchal societies rising to power to the south and eventually the entire world. http://www.ancient-origins.net/myths-legends/tattooed-scythian-warriors-descendants-amazons-part-two-001158 The Ice Maiden. Also called Princess of Ukok or Altai Princess. Her mummified body was found in 1993 in a kurgan (burial mound) of the Pazyryk in what is now known as the Republic of Altai. “She was dressed in a long shirt made from Chinese silk, and had long felt sleeve boots with a beautiful decoration on them. Chinese silk before was only found in ‘Royal’ burials of the Pazyryk people - it was more expensive than gold, and was a sign of a true wealth. 'There was jewellery and a mirror found by the log. The great value of Pazyryk burials is that they were all made in permafrost, which helped the preservation. It was quite unusual to have a single Pazyryk burial. Usually men from this culture were buried with women. In this case, her separate burial might signify her celibacy, which was typical for cult servants or shamans, and meant her independence and exceptionality. She had no weapons buried with her, or on her, which means that she certainly was not one of the noble Pazyryk women-warriors. Most likely, she possessed some special knowledge and was a healer, or folk tale narrator. Her head was completely shaven, and she wore a horse hair wig. On top of the wig there was a symbol of the tree of life - a stick made from felt, wrapped with black tissue and decorated with small figures of birds in golden foil. The princess’s face and neck skin was not preserved, but the skin of her left arm survived, and we saw a tattoo, going all along it. She had tattoos on both arms, from shoulders to wrists, with some on the fingers, too. The best preserved of all was a tattoo on her left shoulder, featuring a deer with griffon’s beak and a Capricorn’s horns. A bit below is a sheep, with a snow leopard by its feet. It is said tattoos, once done, are for life. In this case, though, it was a whole lot longer. The experts say they were made with paint, partially concocted from the burned bits of plants, their soot or ashes which contained a high level of potassium. The drawings were pierced with a needle, and rubbed with a mixture of soot and fat.” (Siberian Times) She died between 20 and 30 years of age, she was around 1.65 metres tall, and the cause of death is unknown, the only sure thing is that there are no traumas present on her skull or on her bones. The mummified remains of the “Ice Maiden,” a Scytho-Siberian woman who lived on the Eurasian Steppes in the 5th century BC, were found undisturbed in a subterranean burial chamber. From Wikipedia The Pazyryk culture is a Scythian Iron Age archaeological culture (c. 6th to 3rd centuries BC) identified by excavated artifacts and mummified humans found in the Siberian permafrost, in the Altay Mountains, Kazakhstan and nearby Mongolia. The mummies are buried in long barrows (or kurgans) similar to the tomb mounds of western Scythian culture in modern Ukraine. The type site are the Pazyryk burials of the Ukok Plateau.(NOVA 2007) Many artifacts and human remains have been found at this location, including the Siberian Ice Princess, indicating a flourishing culture at this location that benefited from the many trade routes and caravans of merchants passing through the area.(State Hermitage Museum 2007) The Pazyryk are considered to have had a war-like life.(Jordana 2009) Other kurgan cemeteries associated with the culture include those of Bashadar, Tuekta, Ulandryk, Polosmak and Berel. There are so far no known sites of settlements associated with the burials, suggesting a purely nomadic lifestyle.

  17. Fixed! Changelog v1.1: Removed river Fixed topography around river Added roads between major Cyprus cities Minors visual improvements I hope it will fix all the gameplay problems and improve experience. I am always looking for feedback to improve it. @Lion.Kanzen: Thanks. Sorry, English is not my native language. I'm trying to do my best, but I often mess up with -ans -ians -nians -ananainainians. I'll try to remember for the next time! Should I create a scenario for this ? I suppose that I can't in Skirmish mode, as you need at least 1 CC for each players. Is it Ok if I build "gaian" villages, and put just a dock for player 1 ? Or should I put some "player 2" buildings ? How many resources should be enought for you ? I can try to create this one for you.

  18. I made a simple-formatted PDF version of the manual from the website: 0ad_game_manual_2016-03-12.pdf (LaTeX source is here) You can use it or do one of the following: a. save or print the manual webpage as is b. use browser built-in reader mode (at least Firefox, Chrome and Safari have it) or an extension to remove unnecessary layout and (again) save or print the result c. copy-paste the manual text into a word processor (for example LibreOffice Writer) (this preserves the formatting) and save/print or export as PDF Note that when printing (in any of the options) you can use not only a physical device but also a virtual PDF printer.

  19. I've tried out this map, it's quite nice, but I do have some issues. The CC of player one is too close to the cliff of the river. A unit can spawn between the cliff and the CC, and get stuck on one of those tiles. Either the impassable tiles should overlap a bit (so units can't spawn on passable but unconnected tiles), or you should make sure the CC is far enough from the edge so units can pass. Secondly, I'd also like some more shores to place docks. A surprise attack over the water would be quite nice on this map, but you have to search really long to find a piece of shore where you can build a dock on.
