  2. That is an effect we might propose for 0AD as well - like in settlers 4 where often used paths across the grass become dirt roads in the end.
  3. Today
  4. @wowgetoffyourcellphone, nice list. The first person that comes to my mind as an important character at that time is Mani, the founder of Manichaeism, which would become a major religion for a few centuries (would make an important Hero priest). There are a couple problems with this: 1) he was born in 216 under the Parthian Empire, which was succeeded by the Sasanian Empire when he was still a child (I wonder what’s the exact criteria in these cases, but to me it makes more sense to have him with the Sasanians), and 2) the religion would eventually be repressed by the Sasanians, although at the beginning they were receptive to it since it had many similarities with Zoroastrianism, but that started to change around 270, with more intense persecution after 290. I’m not sure how much you are into mutually exclusive techs and alternative history, but all this is a gold mine with that. Other immediate Sasanian concepts that could be used as techs: -Just looking a bit back I see that the “Panjagān was either a projectile weapon or an archery technique”, some have said it could have even been a type of arrowhead. I consider the last one, although the least fanciful, the most probable, but most experts disagree with this, probably the archery technique is the most preferred, and to me is a close second. From the sources, and the lack of evidence, being some kind of weapon seems the least probable. -Seven Great Houses of Iran: the Parthian aristocratic clans of the Sasanian court. More of a civ. bonus since it comes from before. Maybe some champion bonus, but Hero penalty, if no member of those houses would be a Hero, like Rostam Farrokhzad (otherwise I think at some point Hero categories would be nice to have, to deal better with certain bonuses and penalties, as I’ve had this problem before with something else). -Dehqans: came later, minor landowners. -Khosrau I Reforms: fixed harvest tax (which dehqans collected). Both of these could be consecutive Field techs, the first one a normal bonus, the second one to trickle metal. -I don’t know if buildings can be upgraded, but for Fire Temples (for civs that have Zoroastrianism as the/a main religion), there are 3 levels (Atash Dadgah, Atash Adaran, and Atash Behram), depending on the grade of the fire they hold (which depends on how it was originally produced, for which they identify 16 different forms, when all are combined and consecrated, that’s the highest fire degree, which is quite complicated to do, nowadays there are only nine Atash Behram, eight in India and one in Iran). -Maybe the Ayvān-e Kesrā could be the Wonder.

  6. I'm glad you found the mod! Let me know what you think of the project, and if you ever want to chat, you can find me more easily on Discord https://discord.gg/EFW7v3G2cg.
  7. Yes, around 20 or so. No idea what you mean by sci-fi, Zelda is pure fantasy XD
  8. IIRC we save the game state and that's all basically? Not sure anything from the gamesetup is saved so that's why I called it limitation ... A while back i checked it to try fix it but seemed to require a few changes.
  9. That's not a limitation, that's a bug XD
  10. That's not the only limitation of current saved game process. Maybe the biggest one would be the map is being regenerated from a new seed.
  11. That's indeed an issue. Thanks for reporting.
  12. IE i use two bakings one with the diffuse plain color and one with the alpha layer as holdout:
  13. Probably i can, i belive i can use holdout shader, didn't tested but maybe it could work. The hair baking is kinda tricky becase of the shape of the curves.
  14. My assumption is maybe he saw his Star Fox game that he's been working on from his YouTube channel? The only thing close to sci-fi would be the Ooca who have power armored suits and the like, but that's still more Eberron type of fantasy than sci-fi.
  15. Here it's different faces, so that wouldn't work, (only for skin color) I don't think @Alexandermb kept the feature of transparent skin / hair
  16. There are specific maps for the mod, and there are maps being made to be added to the mod. But the things you mentioned, is there any confusion? Isn't this a fantasy world?
  17. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bituitus https://www.attalus.org/names/l/luerius.html https://www.attalus.org/names/b/bituitus.html#1 Losing to the Romans isn't really a bad thing; we're talking about a superpower that crushed the entire Mediterranean world. His father probably couldn't have done it any better.
  18. I'd choose the first one for modern GPUs. Also it'll be simpler to optimize in the future (for example replacing by a single texture but with different parameters/colors) as we don't need to so many textures different only in some colors.
  19. Problem: The replay folder format YYYY-MM-DD_NNNN uses a per-machine sequence counter. The same multiplayer game has a different folder name on every participant's machine and different games having the same name. This makes it harder for cross-player merging of replay data (rating aggregation, replay sharing, debug traceability) without parsing every commands.txt to extract the matchID. Proposal: Change the new replay folder format to YYYY-MM-DD_<matchID>, using the existing matchID already written into commands.txt. Date prefix preserved for chronological sort; existing replays unchanged. matchID already exists, is generated by the engine for every game (multiplayer and singleplayer), and is identical across all participants of a given match. Use cases: Replay-sharing site https://replay-pallas.wildfiregames.ovh: matches uploaded by different players collapse to the same identifier instead of being renamed. Mods (e.g. local ratings): users can merge rating data from co-players without name-collision workarounds. Bug reports: devs can ask for a specific replay by ID and the user finds it directly in their folder list. Edit: The date should also be unified in UTC-0 or such.
  20. Hey, are there specific maps made for this mod? I think standard 0ad maps won't do the sci-fi setting justice. Something like space station maps, charred moons and toxic planets could be more appropriate for the mod.
  21. Why Bituitos? As far as I can recall, he's mostly famous for losing most of the Arverni's kingdom and vassal states to the Romans. I'd think if you wanted a powerful Arverni noble (you know, who isn't Vercingetorix or his dad), his father Luernius would be better, though less is written about him. Still, their territories were kind of at their apex under his rule, weren't they?
  22. The greatest Sasanian kings built the Sasanian Empire (224–651 CE) into a cultural and military superpower. The most renowned monarchs redefined Persian history through massive territorial expansion, administrative reforms, and monumental architecture: Ardashir I (r. 224–242 CE): The founder of the empire. He overthrew the Parthians, revitalized Zoroastrianism as the state religion, and unified the Persian lands. Shapur I (r. 240–270 CE): Famous for his stunning military victories against Rome, famously capturing Emperor Valerian. He fostered massive cultural growth and established the great city of Bishapur. Shapur II "the Great" (r. 309–379 CE): He ruled for an unprecedented 70 years. Under his reign, the eastern borders were secured, Roman advances were halted, and the first Sasanian golden era began. Khosrow I "the Just" (r. 531–579 CE): Widely considered the greatest of all Sasanian kings. He is revered as a philosopher-king, known for his revolutionary tax and military reforms, and for turning Ctesiphon into a massive global center of learning and art. Khosrow II (r. 591–628 CE): The last great Sasanian ruler before the Arab conquests. He pushed the empire's borders to their maximum historical extent, temporarily capturing Egypt, Jerusalem, and Anatolia. The kings of the Sasanian House of Sasan established one of the most powerful ancient empires in history. They managed a highly centralized administration, heavily focused on a professional cavalry force (the Savaran), and instituted a Zoroastrian state cult. The Sasanian kings were culturally impactful, sponsoring the construction of great palaces, fire temples, and rock-relief carvings. @Thalatta @Genava55 @d34d svn Thoughts on these being the 5 heroes?

  24. Surrounding the CC with fields is obviously gameplay inherited from AoE 2. It’s not realistic, but from a gameplay perspective it’s the safest way to protect your farms from enemy raids, especially in the early game, where your defensive capabilities are more limited. Of course, you can adapt the gameplay to your own preferences. Normally, it’s not recommended to advance to Town Phase before minute 8. You can even delay it until minute 9 or 10 depending on your strategy. Advancing to Town Phase requires a huge amount of wood and food that is usually better invested into increasing your population, constructing key buildings (barracks, stables, houses), and researching important economic technologies to gather resources faster. The larger your population, the faster your economy will grow. Ideally, you should aim to have 100 population by minute 7. A fairly common MP build order for civilizations with expensive houses (150 wood): As soon as the match starts: Constantly produce Civilians at the CC. Send the first 4 civilians to berries; the fifth civilian builds the Farmstead and then stays on berries as well (remember: 1 civilian per berry bush). One soldier builds a house near your chosen woodline. The remaining 3 soldiers build a Storehouse and start gathering wood. Every civilian produced from this point onward goes to chop wood at that Storehouse. Minute 2: Research wood gathering level 1. Build a house using 3 workers. Minute 3: Assign 3 woodcutters to build a barracks. Build another house using 3 workers. Start building fields gradually. Don’t place them all at once, expand them as you fill them up until you reach 5 fields. Alternate between building fields and building houses. Never stop building houses with those 3 civilians. As soon as the barracks is completed, start producing soldiers. Minute 6: Second barracks. Aim to have 30 workers on fields and 30 workers on wood. After the second barracks, you should already have those 30 workers on wood, allowing you to establish another woodline in a different forest. At that point, you should also begin assigning workers to gather stone and metal — 6 workers is a good starting number.
