Position: Quality assurance tester Do you understand that Wildfire Games is a non-commercial project, work for 0 A.D. is volunteer, and work is done for free? Yes Do you agree to distribute all your work for Wildfire Games under Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike license? Yes Are you sure you are not wanting to work on something programming related? (Then you don't need to send in an application form.) Yes Name: Evan Anderson Email: evanmand@protonmail.com Location: Utah, USA Availability: ~5 hours per week Age: 23 Occupation: I currently work as a quality assurance professional, focusing on embedded software. Skills and Experience: I have been working in quality assurance for about 6 months. Before my current position I got a computer science degree and have done some programming internships. Motivation: I love video games and open source projects. Being able to contribute to this game would be fun and rewarding. I also play the game a lot anyways, so I might as well be on the hunt for bugs. Personality: When it all comes down to one sentence I love creating and understanding how things work. Short Essay: I found out about Wildfire Games through 0 A.D., which I was introduced to by my brother. My family is super into real time strategy games. I am intersted in contributing to the project because I love gaming and tech, and would like to gain more testing experience. Interests and Hobbies: One of my biggest hobbies is gaming. I participated in competitive esports in college and have met many friends through games. I am also very into music (playing the piano/saxophone), indoor gardening, and building with LEGO (also competitively). Favorite Game: Current favorite game is 0 A.D. obviously. Overall my most played game is Starcraft. evan_resume.pdf

I am developing an AI called stevenlauBot. I have only made the game start move. All units go to the tree nearest to CC, cav goes to chicken, either by walking or teleportation, whichever faster. It looks cool! My plan is to make the AI to play standard tactics like how I usually play (only Han). It will be useful to practice 1v1.

Hi, I just have one question : which civilizations will arrive in 0AD ? The Germans arrived in 0.28.0 but are there any other civilizations in development for the future releases ?
-
literally came here to say everything you just did lmao. but, remember, RoN, IN ITS VERY OWN TOOLTIP WROTE :you can rename your cities to taunt your enemies in multiplayer games! I highly doubt that's gonna suffice in 2025 internet lol

It needs to revolve around something. Macedonians have good unit roster, especially champions. I'm not sure why you think having gameplay broken for the AI justifies these changes. This game should not revolve around multiplayer and its whims. Those RTS games that do, are quickly called out as failures. Just see the couple of recent RTS games that put the focus on MP first. I'll re-iterate my previous point. If you want balanced multiplayer, make a mod and promote that mod as a semi-official "balanced" game. See how TAG_Venom did it with ProTA for Total Annihilation: https://prota.tauniverse.com/

I'm not sure why they changed it, maybe @wowgetoffyourcellphone can tell you. I think it's a good addition because it should be atleast that big for a territory root. such a small territory root as in a26 is weird
-
because he's a bit too OP. the entire civ shouldn't revolve around one hero. Balance changes' should not worry about whether AI can use the changes or not, and besides, using your own argument, "it's just one unit you're never gonna make again" what's the harm? I'm here suggesting things I see fit for more varied and balanced multiplayer games, since that's what actually decides meta in most games. sure, there are bigger problems plaguing it for years, but why should that stop us from making better balance. no offense but this just sounds stupid to me

Please make Maury Palace back to how it was in A26. I'm not sure if the new one is supposed to be historically more accurate but I liked the version better. It's just harder to place and only available in P3 so nobody uses maiden guards much. Gymnasium might be similar in size I liked the old ones better.

Why is Alexander being the strongest hero a problem? It's just one unit you're never gonna make again. Why are we hating on Greece so much? Also, this will make his bonus useless if he's trained by an AI, as the AI can't use formations right now. Don't take this the wrong way, the game definitely needs some changes. It's just that the changes you're promoting here are infinitesimal when compared to the actual problems plaguing it for years.

7. Reduce Alexander's health by 15% on account of literally being the strongest hero in game right now 8. Make Phillip of Macedon's bonus related to phalanx formation/pikemen for historical accuracy 9. Make all elephants 10% more metal than they do rn in A27 10. Reduce size of all elephant stables (Currently feel too big for medium map size bases let alone normal) and added reduction size of Kushite, Carthaginian, Ptolemic Elephant Stables (smaller elephants, why same size ele stable?)

@user1 My opponent, Levski1914 ,left the game in rated without resigning when he lost the game instead of resigning. Lobby username: fanfantutu Opponent username: Levski1914 commands.txt

If Rise of Nations could have them, why not 0 A.D.? Granted, cities themselves were a major feature in Rise of Nations. How many cities you had influenced not only how large of a territory you controlled, but how many buildings you could build.

Vantha replied to ffm2's topic in Bug reports
There is this tip: Yeah, I figured someone would bring this up eventually. An idea I had a while ago but never got to implement was to categorize them by level (beginner - intermediate -advanced, which is already done in the code) and then by topic, like features, units, buildings, gamemodes, etc. How does that sound? -
The Seleucid Empire emerged as one of the largest successor states to Alexander the Great's conquests, playing a pivotal role in disseminating Hellenistic culture across the Near East and beyond. Founded in 312 BC by Seleucus I Nicator, it initially spanned from Thrace and Anatolia in the west to the Indus Valley in the east, though eastern territories were soon ceded to local powers like the Mauryan Empire. At its height under Antiochus III (r. 222–187 BC), it encompassed the eastern Mediterranean, Mesopotamia, and parts of Iran and Central Asia. The Seleucids governed a multicultural populace through a formidable military - featuring innovative units such as Indian war elephants for shock tactics and heavily armored cataphract cavalry - alongside claims of divine kingship and the establishment of Greek-influenced cities, such as Antioch-on-the-Orontes, which evolved into a vibrant cultural hub. However, the empire grappled with internal dynastic conflicts, protracted wars against the Ptolemaic Kingdom (the Syrian Wars), and challenges in administering remote provinces. By the mid-third century BC, regions like Bactria (c. 250 BC) and Parthia (c. 247 BC) seceded, initiating gradual fragmentation. A major setback came with defeat by Rome at the Battle of Magnesia in 190 BC, followed by the Treaty of Apamea (188 BC), which stripped away western Anatolian holdings and imposed heavy indemnities. Persistent civil strife, rebellions (including the Maccabean Revolt, 167–160 BC), and incursions from Parthia and Armenia further diminished its power, culminating in Roman annexation of the remaining Syrian core in 64 BC by Pompey. Despite its eventual collapse, the Seleucid Empire endured for nearly 250 years and left an enduring legacy by blending Greek and Near Eastern traditions, influencing art, governance, and trade routes that shaped the Hellenistic and subsequent eras.

Currently the whole history-description of athens is: On my screen this covers 4 of 5 lines. If there is more then 5 lines there is a scrollbar. So don't worry about a too long text. While at it, the Seleucids could have a longer history-description. Currently it's only:

If I can provide a longer summary, I would suggest this: Ancient Athens rose to imperial power in the mid-fifth century BC after the Persian Wars by transforming the Delian League into the Athenian empire. This empire, which dominated the Aegean through tribute and naval supremacy, collapsed in 404 BC at the end of the Peloponnesian War. Athens later regained some influence in the fourth century BC through the Second Athenian League (378–355 BC) and remained a leading city-state. However, it lost its political independence after the defeat at the Battle of Chaeronea in 338 BC, when Philip II of Macedon imposed the League of Corinth upon Greece. Although Athens subsequently attempted to recover its autonomy -most notably during the Lamian War (323–322 BC), the Chremonidean War (267–261 BC), and its revolt in the First Mithridatic War (88–86 BC) - all efforts failed. The city never regained full sovereignty and eventually became a Roman protectorate.
