Oleson in The Oxford Handbook of Engineering and Technology in the Classical World states that “the lever and screw press was in many respects an improvement using the mechanical advantage of the screw to apply greater pressure. Pliny the Elder (HN 18.317), writing in the A.D. 70s, mentions this as a Greek invention of the last 100 years (i.e., late first century B.C.)”. Of course technically the animation would have to change, but I think presently techs don’t do this (maybe eventually?).

Hi everyone, I'm having an issue with 0 A.D. Alpha 28 when hosting a private multiplayer game through the multiplayer lobby. I create a game in the multiplayer hall/lobby(online), my friends can see the game and attempt to join it, but after a while they always get a "Connection Timeout" error and cannot enter the match. Some additional details: Version: 0 A.D. Alpha 28 Hosting a private online game through the multiplayer lobby My friends can see the hosted game in the lobby The timeout occurs when they try to connect to the game We are all using the same game version and no incompatible mods Has anyone experienced this before? Could it be related to port forwarding, firewall settings, NAT, or something else? Any help or troubleshooting suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I would, if I knew anything about the GUI. You could always take a look at the OG Hyrule Conquest, they had something similar.

The map is low key terrible. lol I've often advocated for removing the terrible maps from the game entirely, but I've been frequently overruled on that.

@Dakara exactly!! there are days i played with bots when i started cuz i coulnt play in any of the games.

The map has questionable "quirks", there's also "non-Terrain" more in the middle that one can usually not access and that hides even the silhouettes of units.

We played Ardennes Forest with grouped lines and 8 players. My CC got generated on a hill, unreachable from the downside. I could ungarrision downhill and rebuild. Was a fun challenge, check the replay, but it should be fixed. commands.txt

Agree with manowar. But quitting the game is also a option. It's just a waste of time that can be spend else where when one is frustrated. Muting with autociv helps a bit. In lichess you can disable the chat completely and just get paired up in a game with some random persons. 0 a.d. is not so important.

@diagonalo I got sick of the behavior of people in the OP team games myself & much prefer playing with non-toxic people like Soylent, Sol, Loup. I would prefer if you kept playing 0ad & joined the team games that I & those I mentioned host.

This community is obsessed with OP TGs and I can't bear it anymore I give up. You are all just watching me getting bully. And the system is enabling the bully to do his work. Honestly I'm crying. How could you not read between the lines on how desperate I am. What's the point of living in a world where society allows bully like him to function and smile down on me like my father. The best way to report abusive behavior is to send a private message including screenshots and other details to one of the lobby moderators here in the forums. That's much more effective than pinging people or complaining in public posts. And if you ping moderators in the lobby please include what's the issue. You can't expect people to be looking at the lobby at that moment, neither can you you expect people know why you're pinging them when you just write their username.

I was not planning to post about this on forum, because its very dirty part of 0ad. But someone needs to do something about it. i been playing this game for 2 years now and i love it. These are all the dirty truth that should come out and aware the community. Instead of observing drama and laughing at it, players who enjoy this game, care about it, spending time on it should come forward, discuss, take steps to find solutions. @Atrik i agree with you on most of the things, but on this policing thing i disagree because i have been getting harassed for 5 days now constantly. For using a in game setting "ban" to keep away harassment from the game i host. You been online, you have seen all the death threats, cursing about me and my my mod, all the disrespect and harassment even though i haven't said a single thing towards him accept to "Leave Me Alone". Not just you the whole lobby been seeing these for 5 days, but where are the in game moderators? I have been pinging @Dunedan all the time but he responded once only in game and just said follow the instructions if you want to report anything while there was bad game name on top of it, dia cursing my mom, for him to see and it stayed there for a long time. But nothing happened, no one watching anything in game and people getting away with harassing others. You know me, all other regular player knows me, Tell me what have i done to deserve this? How do i respond toward this? He did the same thing in 0ad enjoyers discord Infront of the discord moderator @TheCJ and got banned for it. Making nub remarks or debate over game on online games are common and normally people gets over it next day. But these are not okay, attaching some ss from last 5 days below. They are cropped because of upload max size, if anyone wants i have 76 ss zipped from last 5 days. I can show u where i haven't said a single bad thing towards him, only banned him from my hosted games to keep harassment away, and i got cursed at, disrespectful words towards my mom, multiple death threats and constant harassment from his alt accounts. I am getting exhausted of all this. And if anyone curious about why i banned him, here is the context how it started well explained,

I was looking on barracks and didn't have the tech. I'm gonna check again. (I was playing with AI 4v4 but in some matches is just 4v1, AI for rival team do play very hard (or more), and my team mates not even Sandbox.)
