Swellick
Just curious what everybody here thinks is the best. By the way, I know that Compaq and HP merged, but they still sell them differently.
Cougar
None, I build 'em myself.
Quacker
Custom built's are always better, if you know what you're doing What're you do, don't get eMachines or Compaq. Trust me on this. From the list, i'd go with a Dell, then a Sony Vaio (which isn't mentioned).
Swellick
What don't you like about an emachine? Personally, I'll go with a Dell, but my emachine was a good deal, and I haven't had any problems with it - yet. Now, I'm really suprised at a Compaq! My best friend had one for the last 5 years, and had no trouble with it. Also, If I were to list all the individual companies, the poll would be 20ft long! So I have just listed the one's that I am familiar with.
Murchad
And Dell wins!!! But I would choose custom if it was on there.
DarkAngelBGE
Ditto Murchad. Custom is always the best, then comes Dell (though their machines aren't the cheapest).
Quacker
Its been my experience with Compaqs that makes my opinion go against them...and eMachines, i've heard a lot of bad about them.
Klaas
We have a compaq for almost 2 years and haven't had any problems so far.
Quacker
Have you added anything new to it? Every Compaq I've worked with has their own parts, so replacing them with a store-bought part was a no-no.
Fire Giant
Have you added anything new to it? Every Compaq I've worked with has their own parts, so replacing them with a store-bought part was a no-no. *agrees*That is just the problem I had when I wanted to upgrade the Compaq-PC of my brother... they even had some complex mechanic to fix the mainboard so you couldn't remove it (well, you could, but you needed to be brutal and destroy it...). Compaq tower cases are relatively good, but can't be compared with Dell or custom ones (Chieftec ).For three years now, I only use self-built computers and I must say that my self-built machines run much better then any company-assembled system, because I know what pieces should be from good companies (like the mainboard, which is often noname or selfmade in those company computers) and which ones can be less expensive ones
Mystic-Al-Bob
OhI'm the only one who didn't say DellI said HP because my printer is a HP and I don't have any Dell-things (I think)

chichigrande
I really like my HP computer, haven't had any problems with it, yet.
King Tutankhamun
Dell is not that great for support, it was really funny:Brian, Bobby and I were working on his computer and then we called Dell and this crazy Indian Guy was on and told us to press these buttons and then it messed things up even more! The computer would go extreamly slow then. Then the guy said let me transfer you, and hung us up! Hahaha, it was funny.
chichigrande
Good story Desmond. You shouild have called back and asked for the "crazy Indian guy".
Sam
Dell all the way!! We have bought 5 comps now (soon a 6th) and they give us huge deals on the stuff because we always buy from them. Plus they make other great products (they're MP3 play for example)
Curufinwe
(none ... I build them myself ... cheaper and same quality!
King Tutankhamun
I will do that for my next one, 'Quality of Desmond' seal of approval.
Argalius
I say compaq, I never heard of the emachines or something like that, with Dell you almost can't build anything new in it and compaq, well I have some good things with it, but I don't know if you can add anything, but from Dell I know you can't.
