wackyserious
So how can I restrict the caro_cavalry_archer to be only trainable at the fortress?
wackyserious
So, at the moment we have two champion units for the Carolingians. Royal Companion Cavalry (Schola Palatina) Royal Companion Infantry (Schola Palatina) Clergy can now also be trained at the church Edited April 23, 2018 by wackyserious

wackyserious
Was avoiding the brown-haired variant during the screenshot process, but kept appearing, so I had to choose it. Good guy clergy healing wounded units.
Tomcelmare
You could also give the christian priests to anglo-saxons, because they were already christianised at this time (e.g Alfred the great) And maybe add the fisherman to the carolingian dock? It doesn't have one for the moment...
Tomcelmare
Aachen, as it was during Charlemagne's time. The palatine chapel is on the right with its octogonal shape, Maybe this building could be the carolingian wonder :Â Â Â Â The original shape is still visible nowadays: Inside :
Stan`
Yeah it was planned to be the wonder. But it can't be the whole thing for obvious reasons (if it's not obvious it's too big).
wackyserious
Why don't we separate each? With the Throne room serving as the palace building while the chapel would be the wonder or the separated entities could be different scenario/eyecandy entities available at Atlas.
Stan`
Yeah that could work.
Tomcelmare
For the wonder, I was talking about the palatine chapel only, not the whole palatial complex
wackyserious
But Alexandermb already made a wonder for the Carolingians, and it's really massive
Tomcelmare
By the way, what will be the use of the carolingian watermill? I think the building is beautiful as much as it is picturesque, but it should have a purpose in the game, maybe smithy technologies? I know the frankish swords were the best of their time (as tough as the Damas steel)...

Yes, technologies researchable on the mill would be good.
Tomcelmare
Ok! I didn't realize that, because I didn't play enough!  I thought of another possible technology: "Missi dominici" which could be available as soon as Charlemagne is in the game: it could give a bonus in the gathering of resources to show the good administration that was established under Charlemagne's rule, OR it might be another bonus: increasing speed in the recruitment of units? Have a look at the wikipage: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Missus_dominicus

Tomcelmare
Yes, the palace is the building on the left wing. That's a good idea to separate the buildings

Where the Missi Dominici can be trained at the palace building after researching https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capitularia_missorum_specialia which was the edict that defined the role and functions of the said office. Similar to the ministers, a Missus dominicus can only be trained at a specific limit and requires one fortress or civic center each.
wackyserious
The palace building will also function similar to the Persian apadana building. Part of the original concept for the Carolingians was for them to gain metal though taxation. Copying the function of the Apadana will also limit the training of Schola palatina at the palace building, similar to how Immortals can only be trained at the Apadana and though heroes.
