  1. Not sure how many vertexes I should use for the shield, but since you're likely to have a lot of units on the screen I kept it as low poly as I could (40 vertexes, 96 edges, 56 faces, when triangulated). @Lion: Can you make the texture? I've attached the UV-map to this post. You should make both front and back to this UV-map, they are exactly the same. Should I also give the hairy shield a try? Not sure how we're going to make it look hairy in the game though.
  2. Are snowy textures for buildings still on the agenda? And if yes, does that mean part 2, beta or a future alpha version? I really look forward to seeing building textures adapt to the environment they are build in. (I would even like to go as far as to model icicle props for certain buildings, that would look a-maze-ing! Imagine those towers with icicles dangling from the roof, heaps of snow against the base and some white spots on the roof!)
  3. What version of 0 A.D. are you using?
  4. The mauryans xD several icons, a few technologies, textures, wonders (I don't think they are buildable yet), ... A lot has changed!
  5. Not sure, but you can check it out by importing a unit in .dae and modelling the helmet on the head of the unit. Afterwards place the helmet at the origin and delete the unit.
  6. The helmets etc are separate props. To know however what size they should be, you can import a dae in blender, make the helmet the right size and then add it to the unit in the xml file.
  7. That archer truly looks amazing!
  8. I like those shields with holes in them, they should definitely be in game!
  9. (in blender) Scaling: select everything with 'a' and scale with 's' About the stairs I'm not sure, but the sides of the stairs look ... unreal. There should be a slope, a wall or stairs on the sides as well. I like that gate in the last picture you posted, I wanna make it!!! xD
  10. Sorry Lion, I didn't mean to say 'different style' but 'different stair style' xD I forgot a word. The style is good, just not the stairs... What a stupid error from my part xD I feel like a complete idiot now!
  11. Really interesting images! Finally some visuals on their buildings. This should help getting the modelling started.
  12. Nice helmets! I wouldn't mind trying to make some of them in blender!
  13. Is starting to look good. The stairs look a bit strange, maybe you should try some different stair styles Scaling the whole model up a bit along the z axis could also be a good idea, it looks a bit flat.
  14. Currently I place small entities inside the actor to block the places where units should not be able to walk
  15. The perfect case would be one where the water splash 'floats' on the water, but the waterfall itself extends under water so it can be moved upwards or downwards. Well ... that wouldn't be perfect, but it would be really great anyway!
  16. Okay ... that seems pretty ... ehm ... wow! Now I'm just scared to play xD I don't have any recent (or decent) recordings, but when I find the time I might make some.
  17. Great! Can't wait to see what you turn up with and to start modelling after my exams! :-)
  18. If anyone wants to make some concept art as to what the buildings in some of these civs should look like, that would really be a great help.
  19. Ehm ... I've been studying the violin for 12 years and am not bad at it ... not sure if I'm good enough to contribute, but if I can, I'd certainly like to. Any information on how to contribute and how good I should be in order to contribute?
  20. nice one, this one sure would be recognizable at 40x40
  21. In that case it doesn't really matter how accurate your results are anyway xD
  22. Oh, okay, sorry :-) It's just that they look really really similar at the moment.
  23. The war ships and the merchant ships are really similar, could something be done to differentiate them a little bit more?
