  1. I like the berry bushes idea (also for apple trees etc?). Maybe something 'seasonal' the bush stays 'empty' for a while, then suddenly regenerates berries. You should also be able to chop down bushes (which gives wood) to make building space. I like farmland bonuses. But how would you visualize this? I would suggest that farms can only be build within a x range of a farmstead. And (to distance farms from the cc) only allow farmsteads outside a y range of your cc. Having food/grain differences is too confusing for new players. Having farmland bonuses would also allow for fertile land along rivers and around oasises, which would increase realism enormously! Maybe we could even implement bad soil to place in deserts/rocks/frost which decreases farm efficiency. When building a farm, the efficiency could be displayed as a percentage (100% at farmland, 75% elsewhere and 50% in bad soil, or something along those lines). An example of such resource gathering can be seen in spring. When you place that resource building you see the efficiency percentage. These percentages could be done, either with aura entities or with a percentage map. To balance the gathering of metal/rock could be increases in poor soil, which is also quite realistic. I see a lot of potential for this idea and I'm already dreaming of fighting over fertile valleys!
  2. Oops, I didn't fix all of it, I still need an emblem for the Egyptians ... And I don't have a clue about how to fix the civ error.
  3. Nah, LSM is usually in France. FOSDEM is always ULB, as you said. (ULB is french: it stands for Université Libre de Bruxelles)
  4. Already fixed that yesterday, just forgot to commit it. I'll do that this evening.
  5. The legends are true: I fell for that one. Unfortunately those guys retired, so seeking revenge has become pointless ...
  6. could you send me the axe texture in png? (or put it on the GDrive)
  7. I would like to see the burning of the library of Alexandria as a background with people trying to save important documents from the flames and soldiers who have just burst open the gates. The librarians, flames and soldiers/background could be on different planes. I can't draw something like that, and I'm not sure anyone else wants to, but I would still love a backdrop like that :-D
  8. That won't be easy. Next week I'll probably have time for something like that. Added to my todo list.
  9. Not sure what you want me to do.
  10. We'll just use the same model as the other civs.
  11. I also need you to make a banner texture. This is the texture of the persian one:
  12. So ... I guess we're not fooling around any more ... sorry had to make that joke xD I made a composite bow and an axe:
  13. The mode release was a joke. We didn't joke about our progress, the mod is downloadable as presented in the post from our git. It just isn't an official release for that, we feel that at least one civ has to be finished entirely for an actual first Alpha so you'll have to wait a little longer for an official packaged download.
  14. Yeah, that is a lot of fun xD
  15. It seems like we won't be allowed to release our mod, at least not legally. This is what I encountered when I tried to download the Alpha 1 of Aristeia: It seems like AoEo doesn't want any competitors offering bronze age civilisations, and in some sense I understand them; they wouldn't stand a chance! But I think their reaction is a wee bit exaggerated, and I'm certain a lot of people will agree with me on this. It's not because they made a bad game that all good games should be swept from the market so that people don't have any alternatives. The most hilarious thing is that they actually think we want to make money out of this xD Man, we spend days on row modelling, texturing and doing research, barely sleeping in between, and then we give everything to you, for FREE, and then they'd charge us with something like that. That's just sick. If you're thinking something like: oh, no, now I'll never be able to play this AWESOME mod: don't worry! We'll continue working on this project whenever we find the time, which will probably be less often because of these f***ers, but hell, we'll even continue modding in prison if it ever comes to that! To circumvent the seized download link we'll spread each version by torrent from now on. And if the large media corporations get their say in U.S. law and all p2p file-sharing systems get put to an end (which I seriously doubt, but a doom scenario we must keep in mind anyway) we'll just upload Aristeia on some obscure filesharing site in Russia or China where they don't know what the word 'copyright' means ("什么?版权?") and post the link here. Once again we've had to learn the hard way that these large corporations are the cowboys on the information continent and we, copylefters, sharealikes and open-source fanatics are the Indians they want to crush. But we're glad to find out they are aware we exist. So one message to the large corporations: You'll never be able to control us And one for AoEo in particular: Just make a better game next time, that way you don't have to be jealous!
  16. That's the one with the dark spots. I don't know, I think it has to be a very smooth texture.
  17. I just used the obelisk that was already in the game, so you'd have to make a new texture for that one. The wall is still not good.
  18. I've updated the cc model, still have to upload it though, will do so when I get home.
  19. I was too tired to figure out how to do the trees ^^ It's a little smaller than the others.
  20. I continued to work on the civ centre a bit, here's the result: The left one is on flat terrain, the right one on uneven terrain.
  21. Actually, no. It is possible to draw in blender without mouse, setting the coordinates manually. Oops, no you need the mouse to select things ... ok. You're right.
