However some trait for certain champion units that makes them stronger as they lose health would be a real game changer (and it wouldn't be too much micro, since it's just one special unit type)

Tomorrows World (2013, A BBC Horizon Special)

Thank you guys :-) I'm going to go for it! Hopefully, you'll see a little less of me here on the forums ;-) that means I'm studying. -
We put your carthaginian portraits in there for the people who couldn't wait, like me, but once they get in the official game that seems a bit pointless ... so yes you did contribute 2D art, but not really to our mod ... not sure what to do with that xD It seems Lion added you anyway, can't hurt can it?

This is getting kind of off-topic ;-) There's a thread dedicated to gameplay modes somewhere around here. Anyway a mode where you can build roads, which have an effect on unit speed (and thus troop movement, resource gathering and, most importantly, trading) would be amazing for the finished game! Let's just be patient and keep proposing awesome ideas ;-) -

I watch a lot of DemocracyNow, WikiLeaks and JuiceMedia, and now youtube has started proposing conspiracy theory videos to me... That's one of the (many) horrible data mining consequences (and also of the bulk of naïve people a flawed educational system has produced) Sometimes, at least, they are really funny ... but the problem is that they're meant to be serious, which is a rather serious issue IMHO. Atlantis, according to the most probable hypothesis was just a story about Crete, which was a really advanced and well-faring civilisation at the time. Crete was hit by the tsunami which followed the eruption of a vulcano on Thira. There is evidence for the eruption as well as for the tsunami, although we can only speculate that when Plato spoke of Atlantis, this story had its roots on Crete. But it is rather likely that following this catastrophe sailors and travellers spread the story of the destructive inundation and so - as is seen with many other stories - it became a myth that is still popular today. EDIT: Part of the Island even sunk into the sea. EDIT2: Central part of Thira that is.

I think the tower limit should depend on your territory. If you build a new civ center or a fortress, your territory expands and you are allowed to build more towers. This way you don't have to destroy earlier towers to protect a new cc

They lost me there as well xD I assume they cut out the parts of the interviews that didn't fit with the message the producers of this documentary wanted to convey.

Tomorrows World (2013, A BBC Horizon Special)

Thank you for the tips, I'll certainly check them out (I love reading and hearing about this kind of stuff) The important thing is that people can choose, you can't force everyone to go open source, but I want to have people get to know open source more (even though everyone uses it, few know what it is) and have a system that is more friendly towards it (I remember certain pc companies once had the idea of making linux live cd's unable to boot, don't know if they did it, but just the fact that they considered it made me really angry). I've seen the number of schools and public libraries using linux based operating systems on their computers grow in Belgium over the past years, and I really think it's the way to go (less virusses, better customizability for the administrator over the public users, and last but not least, a lot cheaper). With linux also becoming the best gaming platform (if it keeps following the path it does now) (let me explain: 1) the framerates of OpenGL are better than those of DirectX[1], and the framerates of OpenGL on linux are better than those of OpenGL on windows, so there's little reason, except for windows being the most common operating system - but they're getting into trouble[2], to make games for windows instead of for linux 2) steam has come to linux, I don't like steam, but it's like "Big Brother" on mars[3], I'm happy about what the consequences are going to be - or at least what I hope the consequences will be 3) the ripples ubuntu is spreading will spread the fame of linux and more people will start using it, which will draw more developpers) Unfortunately Linux is becoming less and less open source (IMHO) or rather the programs available for it are. Take a look at OpenOffice, for example. I've also got the impression that the app store (in ubuntu) is becoming too much like the android app store: filled with trash. The selection process for programs to end up in the repository should require a slightly higher quality IMHO. I talk mainly about linux here, because I've little knowledge about open source programs for windows, so I don't mention them. I would prefer the world becoming entirely open source, but that is plain unrealistic and even dangerous in some aspects (military) (although the military could do with some more transparency, that way Wikileaks would have less work) I'm not really sure where I'm heading. On one hand I want to get a good job and make lots of money, donate lots of money to all the cool projects out there to which I can't donate because: 1) I can't pay over the internet, except with direct transactions and 2) I don't really have any money to donate anyway. On the other hand I want to work for the OS community, build for a better world and the only thing I want in return is appreciation and the chance to live in that better world when I grow old, rather than in this one that has been polluted, destroyed, ripped of it's riches and infected with corrupt people by previous generations. My opinion currently is that I will be in a better state to help the world if I get a good education, a good work experience and a respected place as a computer scientist some day (who promotes OS xD), but I'll see what the future brings. All I can do now is do my best. Which I don't. Unfortunately. I don't study enough. Because even now, barely studying I get 80% average and got a place at my Unif. But I need to work harder if I want to keep that place. And I've never had to work for school until now, so I don't know how to do it and this frustrates me and I have to stop talking now because I'm getting no where. I'm just rambling. One day I want to live in an OS country. Technotopia or something. A country in which science is not held back by conservative religious people, where everyone gets a decent education and where the newspapers are filled with scientific breakthroughs instead of murders, accidents, politics and sports (and possibly the latest war the US has gotten itself into) (oh and I forgot obesity) (and those stupid ads for diet pills) (I could do with anti-anorexia pills though). I'll leave it at that, I've been awake for much too long, and that's like being drunk and on energy drinks at the same time[4]. -

And a crane that has a building hp restore aura (and maybe it could have an animation when it is 'working') -
True. They would be amazing in scenarios.

Exactly what I tend to do, I generally don't finish any games anymore. (Civ, for example: I start a game, I play a few days, I forget all about it and I start a new game xD)

Two things: 1) Would it be possible to also note the mods people are running so that you can play china/egypt with other players who have that mod installed/running. I would suggest adding a little icon (gears or something) after the username and when you hover over that icon it says "Mods: Bronze" for example. 2) When are we gonna see this in the actual game? This will boost multiplayer activity a ton! -
I takes too long to play though, I don't have that kind of time.

I don't trust this at all... They certainly knew more than given credit for, but it is difficult to say how much more. Also, some of the ideas stated as a fact in this documentary are not scientifically proven and should therefore not be stated as a fact, but proposed as a hypothesis. Anything could be chance, you can't just remove that possibility. The documentary does propose some interesting ideas, but having read many books on the tinkering with statistical and scientific data, I have to do more profound research on the subject before I say anything else about it. They lost me entirely at "more advanced civilisation". Interesting series to watch, with a few spoons full of suspicion and criticism. I'm a huge BBC and National Geographic documentary watcher, I read at least 6 scientific journals each month (not including computer science journals) and I can't help analysing things for a deeper meaning when I watch/read/listen (something I got from my prof Latin Mr Mingeot). My favourite writers are Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman because you need to have imagination, knowledge and an analysing mind to fully understand what they are talking about. Some entertaining documentaries I would propose you watch are "Tomorrow's World" (BBC), "Andrew Marr's History of the World" (BBC), "Kingdom's of South America" (BBC), "Drugs Inc" (NG), "Supersized Earth" (BBC), "The Story of Science" (BBC), "How Hard Can It Be" (NG) and The Royal Institution Christmas Lectures, which are meant for children, but what the hell ^^, they are soooo good!

AoE, you could garrison in allied buildings/boats -
I just saw this documentary. It was A-MAZE-ING!!! I would really suggest you watch it if you're interested in science. And even if you aren't! aamof There was a really nice part about open source / open hardware solving a lot of problems in the world. "Progress is no longer in the hands of governments and large corporations, it is now driven more and more by groups of passionate people who have the support of large internet communities." "The process of invention is becoming a global conversation with many minds interacting, sharing ideas, making the seemingly impossible possible and the speed at which this is all happening means that these inventions are changing our world more quickly than ever before. It's an exciting time to be alive!" (I couldn't agree more :-) ) I hope this trend continues and that one day all (or almost all) people will work for the common good rather than for themselves (or for corrupted politicians). Of course this requires major redesigns of the current economic model, but with the growing number of open source projects and the popularity of systems like Kickstarter, I believe the system is moving towards the public. I think the biggest example of the effectiveness of this new trend that I've seen is in movies. Some of the crowdfunded movies I've seen were better than any hollywood produced movie I've seen (with, off course a difference in graphical quality, certainly when it comes to CGI) As an actor and someone who has to watch at least one movie each day, or else I become unbearable, I think my opinion on this in grounded on some solid foundations.

Oh, I'm not protectionist, I'm probably on about every social network I know, (although I rarely use any except gmail). And as a matter of fact I'm even against social networks (I don't trust them for one cent) but I just mean that they can be really useful, so I don't see why you wouldn't use them, you can just make a fake account anyway. I didn't know you needed a google account ... when I joined youtube it was still separate. The speed at which the internet and computer world have changed since I started surprises me time and time again... (a recent example was my rediscovery of a 32MB SD-card and a 512MB hard-drive)

If respawning animals get implemented, it should be so that they only respawn in forests/near oasis and a certain distance from buildings. -
Not sure I follow. All of my french friends have facebook, so I don't see why that is a problem. Also you can just make a youtube account and do nothing with it except upload videos...

Oh, I already did that one (look at screenshot in spoiler in first post), thanks for the ptolemies one! I did the swords already as well as a matter of fact xD If you'd downloaded the font and taken a look at it we wouldn't have done the same work twice... I might still use your swords anyway. Could you send me the svg's for ptolemies and swords?
