  1. Hi all, I would like to suggest adding more unit types to each civilisation, as currently we have specialised civs that are good at one thing and weak at others but there isn't anything that it well rounded. Some variation in map generation would suddenly give one civ a huge favour, for example low wood map favours civs with mercenaries and low mines map favours wood-dependent civs like Celts and Mauryas. Every civ should have a bit of everything so that they are still balanced off Mainland, inspite of different terrains and resources. My current rank of civilisations: Excellent: Macedonian, Seleucid, Good but with flaws: Persians, Britons, Gauls, Mauryas, Iberian Satisfactory: Athenians, Kushites, Carthage, Spartans Difficult to use: Romans, Ptolemies, Han (bugged) This list means Macedonians and Seleucids are not really missing anything. My only suggestion is perhaps give Seleucids a slinger unit and perhaps another citizen cavalry type for Macedonians (archer cavalry would be especially good) Persians are missing good infantry melee units; they need more champion infantry that can be produced easily from the barracks. I would recommend giving them an infantry sword champion or infantry pike champion. They also need catapults. In the meantime, I think having both the chariots and heavy archer cavalry is redundant. Britons, Gauls, Iberians are missing archers and catapults. Iberians are somewhat playable without catapults because of the fire cavalry. They need an infantry archer; English Longbowmen did exist. Mauryas are missing infantry skirmishers and catapults. I would recommend giving them infantry skirmisher and catapults. Athenians are quite well rounded; all they need is a champion cavalry unit. I placed them low on the list because they are uncomfortable to play with due to the early slingers and the need to build barracks with stone. Kushites and Carthage are fine if you factor in the range of mercenaries, but it would be better if both had a citizen infantry skirmisher or slinger unit. Spartans and Romans lack a long ranged unit. They need an archer units. Both factions had archers in history. Spartans are also missing champion cavalry. Most Roman players resort to hiding behind towers, forts and camps instead of engaging in battles like the other factions. Ptolemies have a great selection of units but I just find them impossible to play with. Han is simply bugged, but aside from that, they need a skirmisher unit, albeit infantry or cavalry.
  2. New icon for Maurya poison archers: There should be a sign like this near every tower and fort:
  3. That is the core of the problem, thank you. DaddyCool's game and TG_FUN are 2 stale games that should be removed.
  4. Help! I'm also on Linux and I can join the lobby after a few tries but the majority of hosts say "Service unavailable" when I try to join them. I had to disable TLS encryption in order to join the lobby, otherwise I get "Stream Error". Previously, I did not have this issue.
  5. I don't know which troll came up with the idea that I am Shyft. Time for this to end! @Player of 0AD case closed
  6. height is specified in the template files. You don't have to calculate; you can just estimate. For example a human archer is 1.7m tall, a tower might me 10m using this height and default range and my formula we can obtain the improved range.
  7. The answer of ∫arctan(x+5)dx is So GenieBot was wrong there.
  8. There are also issues to do with port forwarding and packet sizes, I think those are also preventing people from joining hosts. I don't see why joining someone is difficult if both players can join the main lobby. An additional remark I have is that sometimes the game crashes when I try to join the lobby. It subsequently crashes my entire computer system; the whole operating system freezes and fail to respond to mouse and keyboard inputs. This is especially problematic on Windows 11 and KDE desktop, but less of an issue in Gnome
  9. I'm afraid I didn't understand this. What is being reduced? I think your idea is good and I have seen it in other games, but lets make them all similar as currently some civilisations have much better bonuses than others. The Spartan bonus is much better than everyone else.
  10. I just thought Spartans and a huge flood of infantry, forgive me if I am wrong.
  11. Calculating elevation bonus: air resistance has been ignored and assuming archers are shooting at 45 degrees angle 45 degrees is not necessarily the optimum for elevated towers, you should differentiate the formula for R2 then set the differential to 0 and solve for the values of theta there. But it should be somewhere close to 45 degrees and it's some long maths
  12. The only regular player in your list is JC, others are more or less too inactive or smurfing. I haven't seen Vali, Feld, Fish and Book since A26 was released. Also you forgot about berhudar and borg
  13. Also what do the numbers stand for?
  14. That's me xD Why am I being compared to JC??? As you saw last night I am nothing like him. I like Spartans but I can deal with being other civs, unlike JC. How did you generate this list? How did you fetch the data from the server? Teach me please! Is this from the WFG database or your own personal replays?
  15. Totally normal, high power consumption is good because it means your system is working hard to process 0ad. You should worry if its consumption is low - system is ignoring 0ad -> lag and crash Best solution: use a Linux
  16. @leopardi think the Windows task manager remarks the power consumption relative to the other running apps. 0AD consumes much more than the average program does so it is ranked to be super high. In fact, it is one of the least hardware demanding games I have ever played. In the case of @real_tabasco_sauce it is a Windows bug that happens to my brother who still uses Windows; he had messages like CPU temperature being 8520 degrees Celsius and RAM usage of 120%.
  17. Edit: Aslan, Isam96, Wolf12 are also strong players but I mixed them up with the Ramirez brothers, apologies
  18. I suppose there would be more inter-personal connection when speaking instead of typing.
  19. In my opinion the top 10 (forgive me if I forgot to include you; I haven't played with many of the players on the leaderboard. This is just based on the few people I've met and I could be biased) 1. Hussar (Simply unbeatable, I haven't seen him lose a single 1v1 and can hold 1v2 in team games against strong players) 2. Berhudar (Very skilled player who is also very versatile, although not as magical as Hussar) 3. Decger (Did you know that God plays 0A.D? His username is Decger) 4. SaidRdz (devastating attacks with archers and infantry, very fast boom and strong base defence as well) 5. Vinme (legendary champion cavalry spam, but perhaps a bit monotonous) 6. NoobDude (the exact opposite of his name) 7. weirdJokes (the pioneer of new strategies, possibly the most creative player in the lobby. His champions can win outnumbered fights, although it would be better if he fights with more units) 8. Ginnungagap (also creative like weirdJokes, but he is hindered by too much voice chat) 9. Havran (Half of the time he is unbeatable like Hussar, simply strong) 10. Stockfish (surprises you with rushes in 1v1 and spams units in team games, but it would be better if he doesn't make 120 women...) Honourable mention Defc0n (talented Celtic player, but could improve his boom and early defence instead of going aggressive all the time) HerkEule ( certainly a very reliable teammate with great booms and attacks) Mentula ( another very fast boomer and strong attacker, but I haven't played with him in a while and he could have improved) MarcAurel (an effective killing machine, even with low pop and housed) DoctorOrgans (his attacks with Spartans are lethal but he can work on communicating nicely with his teammates instead of advertising the Third Reich) Wendy (I miss you! ) i_am_groot (he is great like his name suggests) Yulduz ( Spartans player quite similar to DoctorOrgans but the signature without early rushes) Cousin (another champion cavalry specialist) Borg- (he had been top tier in the past but the tides have turned) Ramirez (there are too many Ramirez brothers but one of them is super strong ) mr.michael (yet another champion cavalry specialist but also rushes in early game)
