  1. We've had some discussions on this, but in the end it comes down to how much time and people we have available, so while it's an interesting idea we cannot guarantee anything.
  2. Yes, that's our intention. There's no reason to invent the wheel all over after all And that is one thing that at least in my opinion is a very good concept. It's fairly easy, but still reasonably realistic, so to me it's a a good way to do things.
  3. Well, if you'd read the comments on that page you'd seen that it's not misspelled at all. It's just spelled the British way.
  4. It does say "currently under development", but in case you can think of a better way to phrase it, please tell us so we can make it more obvious. Welcome to the Wildfire Games forums btw
  5. Well, while we are making it from scratch that doesn't mean that it's not inspired by other editors
  6. Well, as always expected minimum requirements and the like are not to be taken too seriously. 0 A.D. will run on both Windows, Mac and Linux (as many different versions as are reasonable, but I'd guess Windows XP and most likely Vista, at least one version of Mac OS X and a bunch of Linux varieties, so yeah Ubuntu is very possible).
  7. Welcome Alyssea! Thanks for the nice words and I hope you'll find the process towards a finished game as interesting as we do.
  8. I'd think even future employers have humor though
  9. Oh, it's that time of the year Pity we do it later in Europe so it gets even harder to convert between different time zones for a while
  10. I'm guessing you mean the December/January? Sorry for being such a nitpick, but that's the way I am
  11. As I wasn't the one in contact with Ancient Warfare I don't know if you should get some account details, so we'll have to wait for Michael for that. The missed 'D' could of course be a cause of trouble, wouldn't think so though as you were supposed to send your shipping details to Michael/Bobby, so I guess it's somewhere there that the trouble is rather than here. (The only way I can see (=could be some other way, but I don't see how) that missed 'D' being of any importance would be in case someone would have seen that it only was one 'D' there and then registered as MAXDARK, but as there is no such user and since Michael/Bobby should have realized that something was wrong if they got information from two people that can't really be the problem.)
  12. Ok, perhaps something went wrong in the process somewhere then. Especially since Caesar obviously got his Since I wasn't the one in contact with Ancient Warfare I can't help you further, but I'll alert Michael (aka Mythos_Ruler) of the problem and we'll see what we can do
  13. What issue is it that you haven't got? The Dec/Jan or the February/March? I haven't got the Feb/Mar issue yet either and I'm living in Sweden. I just went to the Ancient Warfare site and checked and found this: http://www.ancient-warfare.com/cms/index.p....html&Itemid=98 so if it's indeed the 1-2008 issue you're talking about it shouldn't be too far away. If you didn't get the last issue though, then I'd suggest that you contact Ancient Warfare directly.
  14. Hmm, shouldn't this go in this forum: http://www.wildfiregames.com/forum/index.php?showforum=110 ? It's up to you though, I hope you get a great and wonderful birthday regardless and pray that God continue to bless you. Enjoy the party!
  15. Hello and welcome to the 0 A.D. and Wildfire Games community! Thanks for all the nice words and I hope that you'll enjoy following the process as we get closer to a finished game. Thanks for all your offers of help, we'll sure need a lot of people to help with scenario/map/campaign designing when we enter that phase. And testing of course, not sure where you've seen an application for beta testers though, as we're not really near that phase of development.
  16. Thanks for the nice words As it's done completely voluntarily, by people who have other things to do too, and also since we do want to make it as good as we can, we cannot say when it's finished. Yes, it will run on Linux, and hopefully Mac OS X too. Once again, thanks for your nice words and I hope you'll enjoy following our process towards a finished game.
  17. True (And note how I several times said "not for this game" and similar ) And yeah, I'd personally not want it in 0 A.D. in any case, just thinking a bit about how it could be done
  18. That could be interesting. It's too complex to be a part of 0 A.D. though. Not necessarily too difficult to program, but rather too much to think about for the user/to test to make sure the game is balanced. It would sure be something to think about if someone makes a more complex game (and I don't mean that 0 A.D. isn't hard to develop, just that our aim is to make it easy to play, at least relatively), and then includes both positive and negative effects of a larger population. One idea could be (for such a hypothetical game, not 0 A.D. just wants to make that really clear so you don't get any ideas ) to make the units train faster, but have less hitpoints (simulating that there are more deseases, higher risk of food shortage etc if there are more people). That would force the player to make the decision between a large population, that can respond to threats in greater numbers but aren't as stable, and a healthy one, that has the stregth to counter stronger units but would quickly get overwhelmed by large numbers, so to speak
  19. We're sure flattered, but the game will be free. That's been the idea all the time, and I can't see how we would go away from that perspective to sell it at a time when it's not even near being finished. Especially since that would not be fair towards those people who have been waiting for it all this time. So, sorry, but no
  20. Thanks We too hope that the quality will speak for itself, most of all we do this because it's fun and rewarding on its own though. Otherwise I'm sure we'd given up a long time ago Positive comments like this is a great motivation too of course
  21. It's Carthaginians versus Persians (as you can read if you click through to the actual screenshot ) I'm sure someone with more knowledge of the specifics can tell you more, but unless I've misunderstood what Michael have said about these things Carthaginians used a lot of mercenaries.
  22. Norway isn't that far away after all, perhaps this is something to think about Nice to see your enthusiasm for your city if nothing else
