  1. Well, though I know where we're heading I don't know what will happen to us along the road
  2. True, just don't forget that they aren't just villagers so you'll have to use a slightly larger force to actually make that much damage
  3. True, but on the other hand, if he/she can defend from the rush he/she can get a confidence boost instead (And yeah, I'm almost arguing for the sake of arguing, so you don't have to take it too seriously )
  4. Well, remember that your units could be gathering that time too (Plus of course that your units will have to travel to reach your enemy.) So, it's not as simple as it may seem
  5. I agree. It's not very nice when you have to actually tell them to heal each time. I remember having trouble with that in the Empire Earth series, it's like if you'd have to tell the soldiers to attack an enemy =)
  6. We don't have any formations implemented yet, the units in the screenshots are placed by hand.
  7. Don't think it's your browser, either I must have forgot to add it or there must have been some error somewhere And I didn't think it was an insult, so don't worry about that.
  8. Please see this thread for an answer to your question about the role women play in the game. And I don't want to be rude, but I think almost every question about a release date has been answered. The answer has not been what they've been looking for, but that's another thing Not sure what you mean by VOD, but we do have some plans for the autumn which possibly will make it more clear at what stage the game is, I won't say more than that right now though, just don't get your expectations too high.
  9. The game will not be released at the end of summer, at least not this summer, there are far too many things left to do. Both bugs to get rid of, and new things to program and create.
  10. It will be a little bit more complicated then that since one need to add some more options etc, but there will be tools to enter models into the game.
  11. I guess that depends on what you mean by modding Some people might consider writing a custom AI modding, at least in the sense that it needs a bit more than just moving some sliders or clicking some buttons. We will make it as easy as we can to add custom AIs though, though again that's a complicated area so it's not possible to make it very easy.
  12. Please calm down Alex, I think it's obvious from the situation that it's in the game world, and to my knowledge you are not in the game world, right On the other hand, and this goes for everyone, please remember that we're on the internet and that it's harder than in real life to "read between the lines" and understand what someone really means, so be more clear about what you mean than if you'd be discussing with your friends at home or so. Another thing to remember is that there are people on these forums to whom English is not the first language, which is another reason to be clear about what you mean
  13. Maybe you should think twice about things before you post Makes sense what you wrote here though, but we do hope that we're past those first 500 miles, would take a very long time before this game is finished otherwise
  14. He's referring to this http://wildfiregames.com/0ad/page.php?p=11868 In the screenshot of the widget a list some threads appear (the ones which had new posts at the time the screenshot was taken) and this one was one of them.
  15. As you can see by the link under "Affiliates" in the menu to the left Wildfire Games and Ancient Warfare Magazine are working together. You might remember the raffle and discount offer we had together with them last year. They also had a review of 0 A.D. on page 49 in the December/January issue (unfortunately there must have been some misunderstanding as they say that we're nearing the end of the testing phase, but apart from that it's a nice review), so please make a visit to their website and if you are interested in Ancient Warfare (why would you be here otherwise ) I can recommend subscribing to the magazine. I do, and even though I'm not an "ancient warfare nerd" I still find it really interesting to read. The present issue (June/July 2008) has the Age of the Trireme as it's theme, and contains a lot of info on naval warfare in the centuries leading up to "0 A.D.".
  16. I can see what you mean But you'd be more disappointed if we released whatever we'll have in a few months and called that a beta
  17. No, I think he meant that "Where do I sign up?" was a joke.
  18. Hmm, no offence, but did you really read my previous message? I think I was fairly clear that we haven't decided on how to organize the beta testing, nor is it about to begin in the near future.
  19. By responding to those who have applied to be beta testers. That's about how specific I can be right now as we're not even near beta and thus haven't decided on the exact details for the testing.
  20. (And regardless of whether you're kidding or not that's another thing, that's for voluntary gifts, it won't affect your chance of being chosen as a beta tester or much else for that matter. It will help to pay for website upkeep and similar stuff, which can bring the release a bit closer (WFG wouldn't work very well without the website etc, at least not in the long run), but for everyone )
  21. I was referring to the ones you can eat, but regardless of whether or not you could get them for free it would still not be free since you would pay something to be a part of the beta And that's not something we'll accept, we're trying not to be corrupt you know
  22. Hmm, I see a chance to be evil =) But no, I won't be. The exact details will be decided later, but in general I'd say: being active at the forums being able to show some skill at RTS games having a computer that can run 0 A.D. (of course ) having enough free time to be able to test the game enough being able to submit bug reports being responsible (hard to check, but anyway, it's something we'll look for in those who'll be a part of the beta testing) and perhaps cookies, lots of cookies :P (that would make it non-free though, so forget that )
  23. Well, for normal game play the sun will stay in the same position, it is possible to move the sun though, so in Scenarios it can be moved to make the scene a day/night/sunset/sunrise scene.
  24. Well, I believe I've said it before, but I might be wrong. The exact number is not decided, as that is dependent on a lot of things (computer resources available, balance, etc) but I'd be surprised if no one will make a mod which allows unlimited population. For now I'd suggest expecting something around 200 though, it's better to be happily surprised than negatively (And there's a reason why that showcase didn't say anything about pop cap etc, we haven't really decided yet after all There's a reason why testing is one of the major parts of game development )
