  1. Well, any non-historical objects will be strictly scenario editor only objects, so no worries about having to see them in ordinary maps (unless the map itself has got a mythical theme of course ).
  2. The resolution can be edited by going to [the place where you checked out 0 A.D.]/binaries/data/config/default.cfg and edit the lines: xres = 1024 yres = 768
  3. 0 A.D. is a free, real-time strategy game currently under development by Wildfire Games. It's cross-platform, 3D and historically-based. Wildfire Games is switching from a closed development process to open source, making the game's code available as GPL and the art content available as CC-BY-SA. People are encouraged to reuse and learn from and improve our work. We are not releasing a playable game, but we want to show what we have achieved and make it easier for more people to get involved in bringing it closer to completion. Check out our open source page for more details and info on how you can contribute.Questions? Check out the developers forum and wiki.
  4. Animal AI, i.e. for example animals attacking units within LOS, is indeed planned. So is terrain affecting movement, but not dangerous terrain.
  5. While not exactly the way you describe it we already have that planned. See http://wildfiregames.com/0ad/album_page.php?pic_id=10123 for a concept sketch.
  6. For the main part of the engine we use C++, and for scripting we use Javascript.
  7. Well, the thing is that it's not really the civilizations that's holding a release back, it's the overall gameplay. We're not too far away from opening up the source (i.e. making the source code available to download) so while we're not releasing a playable game we're making the code available so it's not impossible that someone else might take the game in its current state and create an installer. I really hope that people rather spend time on other things, and it's not very likely that people spend time on doing something like that for an unfinished game, but it might happen. You speak about feedback, and it's sure something we'll need, but the feedback most users would give at the moment isn't what we need as the energy isn't best spent on small bug fixes etc but rather on getting the game closer to a finished state. We do of course try to fix the bugs we find, but it's not really worth testing to find every small bug before the code is more finished.
  8. It's the years from 0 A.D. to 500 BC if you put it another way, and yeah, it's also partly "everything we wanted to put into part one, but would've taken too much time". But apart from us having a wishlist with some things left out from part 1 and the timespan nothing is certain yet. We want to finish this part first you know
  9. The only difference between night and day (and different weather for that matter) is graphical. There were ideas for how it would affect gameplay, but those have been postponed to part 2 (or rather, postponed for now and it's to be decided if they'll make it into part 2) together with some other features that have been cut to make it possible to get the game done reasonably soon. Personally I'm not sorry not to have them, I turn of the weather in EE as I just find it boring.
  10. Welcome to the forums! Hope you'll enjoy being a part of the community (and perhaps the team).
  11. No problem We all want it to be as good as it can as well, so we appreciate it.
  12. Welcome to the Wildfire Games forums leoleez! I hope you'll enjoy being a part of the community. Looks like you've played your fair share of RTSs
  13. Hello Michael! Welcome to the Wildfire Games forums! Sounds like you've been playing a few games in your life =)
  14. I've set up things now. Am a bit uncertain at how things work though =) The thing is I've set it up so that the group new users are assigned aren't allowed to use the PM system, but that users get transferred to another user group that has those permissions after posting 10 posts. That works as expected, I'm however a bit uncertain about what's the case with current users as people who already have made more than 10 posts weren't transferred automatically. Probably it's just a matter of people having to post one more post and they're transferred to the correct group and they can use the PM system again, shouldn't be any trouble as most people who will not make at least one new post probably aren't interested in using the PM system anyway. The problem would be if everyone who has had access to the PM system still has as the spammer seems to have registered a whole bunch of user accounts some time ago. So, would anyone please check and see if you can access the PM system? As far as I can see none of you regular users shouldn be able to access it at the moment, though if you can things are a bit more difficult as then everyone who registered before today might have access to it.
  15. Thanks for your concern. I'm intending to do something like that, though I'm looking for a better way than being forced to move all existing users to a new user group. And to be honest, as it's only been two spam PMs (though sent to a lot of people) as far as I know and both from the same person (though not the same username/IP), it's not been my highest priority. I will take care of it though, and will definitely deal with it immediately if it happens again, but for now I'll rather wait 'til I find a better way to do it. EDIT: I shouldn't have said that obviously, there just was a new spam PM sent out and I don't have time to take care of setting things up now =) I will do what I can to stop the spammer though.
  16. I recognize that, I haven't played much MultiPlayer, mostly just against the computer. But I do have a tendency to build a lot of defences, sometimes in AoK I've been building towers as a way to attack almost Building towers/castles closer and closer to the enemy
  17. Welcome to the forums! I hope you'll enjoy it around here and contribute to the discussion Feel free to tell more about yourself so we can get to know you a bit
  18. Welcome to the Wildfire Games forums While we do want to get some attention so we can get new people on board when we needwe don't want to draw too much attention among gamers just yet as most probably would be interested for a short while and then leave when they get tired of waiting. It's much better to get some more interest up just before we're ready to release. It's not necessarily easy to find the right balance though as we need to be seen a little bit at least to attract new team members It's kinda funny that the two things you mention are actually things we have in the game already (might be some tweaking of some details left there, but compaired to the things we've not yet started to implement they're very implemented ).
  19. Sorry to hear that. I hope nothing further happened? Like viruses etc.
  20. Cool Nice to see what's going on with your project.
  21. Yeah I thought I should add something like that so people wouldn't think that WFG would cease to exist or something That would have been very sad news.
  22. The exact details for this haven't been decided, especially since we don't know what possibilities we'll have for game servers etc. If we have the resources we'll probably set up some kind of system, but it's too early to say something specific. Feel free to make more specific suggestions, but don't count on us to implement any of them. No. I think it's been discussed in more detail somewhere else in these forums, so you should just have to search if you want to read more about why we'll not add it.
  23. It's really easy to do, no magic required even
  24. Welcome to the forums Decimus Hope you'll enjoy following the way towards a finished game. And that you'll have fun in the forums in the mean time of course
