  1. For info on the current plan for 0 A.D.s units/buildings etc you can take a look at the Design Document which is posted in the Trac wiki.
  2. First welcome to the forums. Second, since you talk about game modification among other things I'd say this place is as good as the other places. To answer your questions: 1. No. 2. Yes and no in a way. Yes that the modders have the source code (as well as everyone else since 0 A.D. is open source), but no since the main reason is that people have been spending some time on the planning/designing phase of the mods. (See http://os.wildfiregames.com/ for more info on this.) 3. You click on the button that looks like a pen in the lower right of your post. 4. No, we're developing our own 3D engine for the game. It did however start out as a mod for AoE2, see http://www.wildfiregames.com/0ad/page.php?p=6911 for more info. 5. No. (And as you might have noticed I've deleted your other post.)
  3. Yes, and yes. Depending on what you mean by scripting we might actually need some help sooner rather than later. It will be quite some time until the editor itself is finished, but someone with good scenario/trigger scripting knowledge and also good planning skills could definitely be useful quite soon to help set up the base system.
  4. I recently found an interesting game called AI War: Fleet Command, and what's even more interesting are the articles about game development which are written in the developers blog. The one I've linked below is the first one about a different approach to developing game AI, but there are a lot more you can check out on a lot of different topics. http://christophermpark.blogspot.com/2009/...-ai-part-1.html Feel free to add your own favorite articles/authors below so we all can benefit from expanded knowledge
  5. If you can't get the files then I doubt that the game in its current state will be of much enjoyment to you, but perhaps I'm wrong. Could you please explain a bit more what your problem is? It's hard to help you if all you tell us is that you've got difficulties
  6. Agreed. I blame my limited knowledge on translation tools
  7. Well, due to the fact that we haven't written all texts in English yet we don't think that getting anything translated at this point is a good idea. We'll make it clear when the English texts are finished enough though (probably not until the game is more or less ready to be released as there might be changes to the very end, at least during the earliest phases of gameplay testing when we see what/if any major things will need to be changed).
  8. Looks good indeed. Will you please add this to http://trac.wildfiregames.com/wiki/SubmittingPatches ?
  9. Hello, and thanks for your interest in 0 A.D. And of course for your patch, one of the programmers will take a look at it soon, and hopefully it will just be to commit it. Otherwise they'll get back to you in this forum. (When we get more patch review requests we'll definitely set up something specifically for them, but until then this forum is probably the best alternative in my humble opinion. There's no reason to add more complexity if it doesn't add any value (like making it easier to find the patch review requests). We're in the process of redesigning the website though so I'll bring this up for discussion and we'll see what solution the team thinks is best. )
  10. It look interesting and I hope that it will be the base for many good new games in the years to come.
  11. Sweden is roughly the same (though a slight bit worse I'd say, I'd blame that on the oil our western neighbours have got ), so I wouldn't say being a petroleum exporting country is necessary. I'm sure it helps though
  12. I hope you'll like the new version as well, though things will change quite a bit. I'd say to the better, but then again everyone can't like everything. You can always take a screenshot to remember the present design by, or visit archive.org Hopefully you'll still want to visit this site though, we don't intend to do anything that will scare people away
  13. A little update for our faithful fans. Michael Hafer have been kind enough to create this piece of art to show what can be done in 0 A.D.
  14. Great to hear about your trip (and no, it wasn't too long ) I doubt that's the only reason Aviv, while it probably is part of the reason I think (though I don't know for sure) that it's more due to symbols being easier/faster to understand than pieces of text (once one knows what they mean of course ).
  15. Please go to the linked thread to read the full job description, but in short it's a web programmer we need, so (X)HTML, PHP, MySQL and more is needed.
  16. Here's a chance for someone who doesn't know anything about game development to contribute to 0 A.D. We're planning to redesign the 0 A.D. home page and to make that come true we need a web developer. To read more about exactly what skills we want you to have for this job (and other) please go to the Application thread in the forums, where you also can read the instructions for how to apply.
  17. Want to get ships moving? Want to make the bravest soldiers run and strongest trees to move? Then animating is for you, and if you have experience doing it in 3DS Max you might be the one we're looking for. To read more about what we're looking for and how to apply, please visit the Wildfire Games Application Form thread on the forums. And now something to give this news post some value even for those who don't have the skills to apply. This is the first look at the Roman Quinquereme, stay tuned to see it in all its glory:
  18. Ah, true overall more people might be using Mac, but I was thinking about 0 A.D. developers
  19. Hmm, I'm afraid I can't help you. But I suggest some patience After all is Snow Leopard even out yet? I mean some things can be missing due to that. And in any case you might have to wait for an answer as Mac is the OS that things are the least tested on so far due to Windows and Linux being used by more developers.
  20. No offence, and it can be easy to miss, but have you read the 0 A.D. front page or have you just looked for a download link? I'm just asking since at the top of the page it clearly says "0 A.D. is a game currently under development by Wildfire Games" and a little bit below that there's a news post about open sourcing where we clearly say that we haven't released a playable game yet. That said, it is possible to download the game in its current unfinished state, but it's really just recommended for developers at the moment as it's a bit more complicated than to just download it. For more info you can check out http://trac.wildfiregames.com/wiki/BuildInstructions to see if you think it's worth the amount of work it requires.
  21. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_watermarking In short it's an image (with some logo or similar) pasted over another image to show who created it or where it's from.
  22. For your new avatar? I don't think we want to officially endorse your avatar, so I'm afraid not. I mean the 0 A.D. logo symbolizes the game, and while it's one thing if people use it in links to the 0 A.D. website and similar things I don't think it would be a good idea if people started to use it in something as personal as an avatar. That would make it seem like Wildfire Games said - and agreed with, and promised - everything that person said. So no.
