  1. Hello Michael! Welcome to the Wildfire Games forums! Sounds like you've been playing a few games in your life =)
  2. I've set up things now. Am a bit uncertain at how things work though =) The thing is I've set it up so that the group new users are assigned aren't allowed to use the PM system, but that users get transferred to another user group that has those permissions after posting 10 posts. That works as expected, I'm however a bit uncertain about what's the case with current users as people who already have made more than 10 posts weren't transferred automatically. Probably it's just a matter of people having to post one more post and they're transferred to the correct group and they can use the PM system again, shouldn't be any trouble as most people who will not make at least one new post probably aren't interested in using the PM system anyway. The problem would be if everyone who has had access to the PM system still has as the spammer seems to have registered a whole bunch of user accounts some time ago. So, would anyone please check and see if you can access the PM system? As far as I can see none of you regular users shouldn be able to access it at the moment, though if you can things are a bit more difficult as then everyone who registered before today might have access to it.
  3. Thanks for your concern. I'm intending to do something like that, though I'm looking for a better way than being forced to move all existing users to a new user group. And to be honest, as it's only been two spam PMs (though sent to a lot of people) as far as I know and both from the same person (though not the same username/IP), it's not been my highest priority. I will take care of it though, and will definitely deal with it immediately if it happens again, but for now I'll rather wait 'til I find a better way to do it. EDIT: I shouldn't have said that obviously, there just was a new spam PM sent out and I don't have time to take care of setting things up now =) I will do what I can to stop the spammer though.
  4. I recognize that, I haven't played much MultiPlayer, mostly just against the computer. But I do have a tendency to build a lot of defences, sometimes in AoK I've been building towers as a way to attack almost Building towers/castles closer and closer to the enemy
  5. Welcome to the forums! I hope you'll enjoy it around here and contribute to the discussion Feel free to tell more about yourself so we can get to know you a bit
  6. Welcome to the Wildfire Games forums While we do want to get some attention so we can get new people on board when we needwe don't want to draw too much attention among gamers just yet as most probably would be interested for a short while and then leave when they get tired of waiting. It's much better to get some more interest up just before we're ready to release. It's not necessarily easy to find the right balance though as we need to be seen a little bit at least to attract new team members It's kinda funny that the two things you mention are actually things we have in the game already (might be some tweaking of some details left there, but compaired to the things we've not yet started to implement they're very implemented ).
  7. Sorry to hear that. I hope nothing further happened? Like viruses etc.
  8. Cool Nice to see what's going on with your project.
  9. Yeah I thought I should add something like that so people wouldn't think that WFG would cease to exist or something That would have been very sad news.
  10. The exact details for this haven't been decided, especially since we don't know what possibilities we'll have for game servers etc. If we have the resources we'll probably set up some kind of system, but it's too early to say something specific. Feel free to make more specific suggestions, but don't count on us to implement any of them. No. I think it's been discussed in more detail somewhere else in these forums, so you should just have to search if you want to read more about why we'll not add it.
  11. It's really easy to do, no magic required even
  12. Welcome to the forums Decimus Hope you'll enjoy following the way towards a finished game. And that you'll have fun in the forums in the mean time of course
  13. No. There will probably not be any Alpha release, if/when we have a public Beta release we'll make sure you'll hear about it on the site/forums. The actual development of the game didn't start until 2003 by the way: http://www.wildfiregames.com/0ad/page.php?p=1492
  14. Creative But I'm afraid we can't use that due to copyright reasons

  16. Well, thanks for your concern , but I'm not sure what we can do different from what we're doing at the moment. First and most importantly we don't really need all that much hype at the moment, we don't have a finished game and I'm afraid most of your friends aren't highly skilled programmers with a lot of free time. (If you do have friends who fit that description feel free to send them our way ) The main reasons why too much hype is negative are some of the things you've listed in your post. If we don't have anything to provide to people the interest is likely to quickly wane and will not be useful at all regardless of whether or not there are 10 000 people who know about what we do or 1000. We can't give you any info on release dates because we don't know, we'll of course know when we get close to it, but for now it's too much left to be done for us to be able to estimate. Especially since just about everything is uncertain, not necessarily when it comes to the game (though we've never developed a game before and thus things are new for us in that sense, not everything since we've been working for some years now, but still), but rather when it comes to us. The team. We do have a life apart from WFG, and while we try to put a lot of effort into getting this game closer to being finished it's not like we have all the time in the world. And we do have other interests than 0 A.D. Most important though is that while we might know whether or not we'll spend time on 0 A.D. we have no way to know how much everyone will have a given week and that makes it impossible to estimate a release date. At least for now. I can tell you this much though, there will not be a demo. As we'll release the game for free there's no need to put up a limited version. However, as we're about to making 0 A.D. open source, there might appear builds which are a snapshot of the game in its current state. That's not something we'll release though, and I doubt many people will spend the time doing that if they don't have the time/skills/interest to join the team right now. We do want to have some forum activity going though to keep us reminded that there are people out there who want to play the game. So if you have any ideas on how to make things more interesting/lively please tell us. And one final note about info, what is it you want to know that we don't give you/can give you? There is quite some info on the 0 A.D. website and in the forums. We have a Revision Log on the website where any major additions to the code/art can be seen. We do post new screenshots/other things fairly often (more often on the Moddb site http://www.moddb.com/games/0-ad as we feel that we don't want to ruin the experience for people who don't want to see any spoilers/get too much info before the release. Moddb is a community for modders/developers, so we feel that someone going there can take getting some more indept info).
  17. Well, just reading the message should not do any harm. Don't click any links in PMs unless you trust the sender though. Please send us a PM/email if you get any more Spam messages so we can take care of it.
  18. Unfortunately one of the forum users have been using the Private Messaging system to send spam messages. Please delete those messages if you've got them, they're not in any way affiliated with WFG. We're sorry this have happened and have deleted that user account, we'll take further steps if necessary, but for now we hope that's enough to make sure it doesn't happen again. And just as a reminder: Spam is not allowed on these forums in any kind of way.
  19. Nice to get a chance to get to know you a bit. Seems like you've played a game or two in your life =) Done. We do have some custom themes and stuff yeah, so that's the difference there. We don't host our forums/website on invision boards though, we just use the Invision Power Board forum software
  20. Hello and welcome to the forums I hope you'll feel at home.
  21. Great to see you around here And congratulations on being so close to finishing your studies (I'm hopefully getting close too, but it's something with me and theses/papers So it might take a bit longer than it should in the worst case, but I'm close in any case.) I spell my name with a 'k' btw =)
  22. Well, both Free (gratis) has always been our intention, and free in the OS sense is something we've been thinking about for almost a year and are coming to the end of preparations for.
