Splendid, will have to try that out as soon as possible Looking forward to having treasures as well and to see other things implemented as well, keep up the good work

First an advertisment and then some info. Fortunately for him, but unfortunately for us, our current Sound Lead, Matt Sherman, has become too busy with real life work to lead the Sound Department. Thus we're looking for a new person to fill this position, see below for what qualities we're looking for. A note first however: a huge part of being part of a project like this is communication, so you should be prepared that quite some time will be spent on reading/replying in forums, reading emails, PMs etc. Please see the Application form for more info on how to apply for this and other positions. To try and improve the forum experience we've removed a few forums and added a few new ones: The General Chat forum is now the only forum for topics which are not related to 0 A.D. or Wildfire Games. We've added a new Scenario Design/Map making forum where you can showcase your maps/screenshots as well as discuss how to improve your map making skills. As the game is still in development there's a risk for bugs, if you find them please report them in the Bug reports forum There's also a new Spread 0 A.D. forum where you can discuss how to get the word out to others about the game.

It seems you're on Windows? And using the pre-built .exe? While Philip is the one who'd know I'm pretty sure this change requires the .exe to be re-built, which is now done, so it should just be to update SVN and the error should be gone

Hello Mitch, thanks for the nice words about the game. And welcome to the Wildfire Games forums
-
Is the game allowed to access the internet? A firewall/antispyware program could be blocking it even if the port is open. Also, the process is called pyrogenesis.exe on Windows so that's what you'd have to add to your antispyware's whitelist of programs to allow access to the internet.
-
That's probably better yeah
-
Would it be hard to add something like % of map discovered? There are a lot of other things which would make sense to add later, but that could be worthwhile to have already if it's not too hard to implement.
-
The text isn't close enough to being finalized, so it's a bit too soon to start any actual work on translating the game. It would be useful to discuss the best technology for the translation framework though, so it can be implemented as quickly/effortlessly as possible. There have been some discussion in other topics, but that consisted merely of mentioning one or two different softwares, so this topic can definitely be a good place to do that.

For more info on how we plan to make animals work see: http://trac.wildfiregames.com/wiki/Design_...Entities:Nature . I doubt we'll give non-ranged cavalry a ranged attack just for hunting, but if it proves to put one civilization at a disadvantage we might as well.
-
That depends on your firewall I'm afraid, so it's not too easy to help you with that. I assume you've got a manual or something to help you with it? It might be called something like Forward ports/Port Range forward, or perhaps even open ports, I don't know If you still can't find something (a google search for some of the above words and the kind of router/firewall you have can also be useful), you can post the name of the router/firewall and we can try and help you.
-
I think that just allows the game to access the internet, you'd still need to open the specific port as well.
-
Has he opened the correct port in his firewall? (UDP port 20595) (Or you if it's you who's hosting.)
-
Ranged cavalry already have that ability. I personally don't think it makes sense to add it to the non-ranged cavalry though.
-
Would it be ok for me(/you if you like) to add this to the DD? As well as the info on stances?
-
You've misunderstood what Bob said, and have turned this topic into something different than it was meant to be. I'll close this topic as Brian has tried to answer it and at the moment that's the best answer we have. It will definitely be before the Beta though
-
Please. All he did was to ask when a feature that is going to be in the game is going to be implemented fully.

Do you think it would be more efficient to record an in-game movie? I could try recording a movie if you tell me what you'd like to include. -
And you sure seem to be trustworthy enough to get them So now you are able to do more
-
Should continue to work, the restrictions are already implemented. Looks great btw Ebb and flow is not planned, but if someone wants to implement it we're not going to refuse putting in the game We're not going to delay the release for it though.

Theresa Andersson - "Blue skies" This one really benefits from being watched rather than just listened to... It might seem a bit weird at first, but watch it at least one minute before you give up on it. -

You can change it in the cfg file: http://trac.wildfiregames.com/wiki/Playing...raphicsSettings -
Thanks for reporting this. In no way are we including any harmful software, so it's most likely a false positive (many antispyware/antivirus tools report things as spyware/antivirus even if they're not), or it's something other than our installer that's put it there. That said I don't get any message about a worm in that folder when I search it with Superantispyware. Have you updated recently so you're using the latest version? (If it's a false positive they might have updated the program so it won't report our code as a worm.) Also, from where did you download the file? (While we're most definitely not including any malicious software someone else could potentially be including a worm in a package they've made.)

Could you please explain what you mean? The game should probably get harder to play as it's getting closer to being finished in one sense though: it's going from being a sandbox with some game features to a full-featured game. I'm guessing that's not what you mean though, so some explanation would be nice so we can do something about it

Offensive/defensive states are definitely planned, but we haven't considered whether or not to give any increases/decreases to values etc. Not sure if the added benefit is worth the complexity, but it's definitely something to think about. Units standing on walls is likely, units walking on walls unlikely, siege towers/ladders would probably take too much work to make them worth spending any time on. Perhaps there's someone who's got a great idea how to do it programming-wise who'll join the team later though so one can't rule it out completely. Battle ships will definitely include soldiers and siege engines on them, but boarding is probably not going to happen. Sorry if I sound rude but that's not going to happen unless you play a mod. If anything we might remove buildings if testing shows that people are too confused by all the buildings. To explain why I'll say that the game is just that, a game, not a simulation, and definitely not reality If the game were to be 100% realistic it would be boring, would you want to have to wait while the smiths made the weapons or the men ate/slept? That does of course not exclude the stable in and of itself, but when the game was designed the set of buildings included were decided and unless there's a really good reason to change the number/which buildings are included we won't. That said, we intend to make it as easy as possible to mod the game so someone can easily create a stable, and several buildings not in the main game design are already included as editor-only/scenario buildings so, who knows if there'll be a stable included among them (Disclaimer: This is not a guarantee that there will be, simply a statement that it's not impossible ) Thanks for all the nice words Hope you'll keep following the game as it progresses, and please continue to post in the forums, it's always nice to see new feedback. Even if we may have heard it before it's still useful to know what people thinks
